What was common and typical in the Waffen-SS was high casualties and equipment losses in battle. For better or for worse, they did not like to retreat or let up from attacks.
You cannot judge an entire branch when there's a huge range between its members: men like Otto Skorzeny or absolute scum like Oskar Dirlewanger wore the same uniform but represented two very different things.

SS formations overall had higher casualties than Heer units, but were usually better supplied/prioritized with new equipment due to their political standings.

This meant that the SS was depriving Heer units of badly needed equipment, losing that equipment, then squandering even more.

Case in point, the 6th Panzer Army was created out of the most senior SS Panzer divisions on the Western Front. It was lavishly equipped with Panthers and Tiger 2's, and failed to make an effective breakthrough during the Battle of the Bulge. The 6th Panzer army advanced about 20 miles before their advance was halted. A month later, 90% of the heavy equipment given to the Panzer army was lost when they were abandoned to escape encirclement.

This is what I've read. The best gear being distributed to relatively green SS troops who, because of inexperience and fanaticism, promptly lost it. All while veteran units struggled with dated/broken equipment and poor supply.

The 1st, and 12th SS Panzer divisions got priority for Panther's and Tiger2's before the more experienced and arguably more effective Panzer Lehr Division.

The SS was mostly mediocre, a bunch of brainwashed fanatics throwing themselves at the commies either out of fear of them or their devotion to Nazism. This often led them to be foolhardy which got a lot of them killed. There were elite SS but I would say only 4 of them (out of 36 divisions) were - the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th. The 9th and 10th weren't bad until they got rekt in Normandy and never recovered; Arnhem was the last hurrah of the veteran 9th troops, the Paras killed so many of them the division was pretty much as useless as the 12th (Hitlerjungend) after that.

The rest of them ranged from meh (the 16th, 17th and 18th) to complete shit (those Bosnian ones).

Had opposition groups 'disappeared'/shipped to Siberia, starved Ukraine to death because they were too capitalist - the NKVD were as much to be feared as the Gestapo. And of course the Soviets had more tolerance for killing POWs, though in the Nazis case this is understandable ( the Nazis killed tons of Soviet POWs). They also had a bit of a pillaging epidemic whem they entered Germany, but the difference is the leadership punished the offenders for doing so, whereas when Nazis troops slaughtered villages and burned all their stuff, no one cared and, if anything, it was encouraged (lebensraum and all that).

The number of civilians killed by bombing is a) many times less than the number of civilians exterminated by the Axis; and b) was not always (though sometimes was) done intentionally or purely for the sake of killing people. Usually it was collateral damage. The same cannot be said of the majority of civilians the Axis killed, especially when it comes to the Nazis vs the Soviets and the Japanese vs the Chinese.
