I think you misinterpreted what he's saying: it's not that they're going to be $1500, they're only making 1500 of them, which is pretty fucking stupid. Shit like that and the A1 would sell well all around, but if you're only going to build 1500 carbines, then they're going to be bought up damn near instantly.

>they're only making 1500 of them
Per model, supposedly, to be fair. That said, the only two that people have consistently wanted in signficant numbers are the A1 and XM-177. Everything else is pretty under the radar, and they were retarded as shit to not just focus on those two instead of devoting the majority of their time and money to other models. I'll be surprised as shit if the 602 manages to sell out soon, barring GB flipping kikes.

I know what he said, and my statement still stands. They are making them limited because they want them to sell fast, that's the whole idea of a limited run. If he wasn't a poor sob then he'd go and buy one of the 1500. But instead he complains that people will buy them and sell them on armslist for more. Cry more.

It's a retarded move no matter how you slice it, Mr. Colt Rep.

He's completely right to complain on that point, though it's stupid to complain about people flipping them for more money when you should be bashing the retarded company that is Colt for making another stupid decision. There's a reason they've changed hands so many times in the last 20 years, and it's not because the people who run it know what they're doing.

Colt says they want to release reproductions of every model made during the Vietnam era. Since the AR program was an unminded clusterfuck, this could mean upward to a dozen+ models if they go full ham. Likely, they'll just focus on the 601-605, with a couple of carbines.

Bear with me.

So when I go to zero the red dot (assuming my irons are zeroed), should I start by lolipopping the dot with the front sight post?

Finally, once the red dot is zeroed, can I literally place the dot on my target anywhere in the field of view (by adjusting my head/cheek weld) and achieve hits? That's the part that I don't understand.
>>
>>30201245
That's how it works, as long as you can see the dot, it's on target.
>>
>>30201245
Yes, because your head and cheek may move, but the rifle has not, therefore the point of aim has not moved.

>>
>>30201245
>should I start by lolipopping the dot with the front sight post

No, you should get a sight picture with your irons and put the dot on top of the front sight post.
If you don't have a rear sight you won't be able to do this (unless you have the red dot at absolute cowitness, in which case you can center the FSP in the tube).

>can I literally place the dot on my target anywhere in the field of view ... and achieve hits

Yes, that's the entire appeal of red dots.
>>
>>30201245
I split the dot with my irons, just make sure that when you initially zero that the dot is in the center of the optic so you don't zero it with parallax error. That way when you do introduce parallax by changing weld, head position etc it will stay true and not exacerbate parallax error introduced during the zeroing process.
>>
>>30201245
>So when I go to zero the red dot (assuming my irons are zeroed), should I start by lolipopping the dot with the front sight post?
Yes.

>Finally, once the red dot is zeroed, can I literally place the dot on my target anywhere in the field of view (by adjusting my head/cheek weld) and achieve hits? That's the part that I don't understand.
That's what the ad copy usually says. That being said none of the red dots are truly 100% parallax free, so you will get very slight deviation if the dot is at the very edge of the tube. Again, a total nonissue at typical carbine ranges.
>>
>>30201245
once zero'd, it really is that simple. red dot on target, thats it.
as far as zeroing, put the dot on the tip of the front sight post (and looking through the rear). fold your sights down and take some shots with dot only to double check your zero. you may need to adjust slightly

I guess my reason for the vx2 is it is relatively inexpensive, and will do what I need. I'll probably get the 4-9 though.
I'm not exactly rolling in money, and the vx2 I feel will be fine. The only real shooting it will see is shooting clays at 400 yards at the range
>>
>>30202538
If it is not a GSA contract item from Leupold it is almost guaranteed to either be of all overseas parts or be assembled overseas as well.

If a lightweight point and shoot scope at moderate ranges is what someone is in the market for though, the Vx-2 are mighty attractive for their price and weight.

70 for the stripped upper
100 for the muzzle device
40 for the gas block

the keyboard was $200

I've used quite a few NVG's in my career. PVS-7 are nice because they are affordable gen 3 but if you're going for true good NVG's head over to Tactical Night Vision Company and find a pair of PVS-14's. They blow the PVS-7's out of the water. Pinnacle is a great company. good 10 year warranty.

Honestly I usually only shoot 55gr. I have some 75gr hornady TAP that shoots fine out of my 16" 1/8 midlength. I have never really tried 1:7 but I like the option to shoot high grain ammo.

As far as I know the stabilization issues are grossly exaggerated but that being said I have no personal experience.

That is why I mentioned in your experience. Every barrel is different in what it likes. Try the heavyweight stuff to see how it does and let the results guide your decision.

They are from Cobalt Kinetics but I think the only way to get it is buy purchasing their BAMF Edge AR15 which runs $2,995

They aren't all aesthetics; some future shit in that gun like auto mag drop when the last round is fired. When the next mag is loaded, it auto loads a bullet.
