>>
>>30204645
At the time the handguard had had the threading stripped out of its retention screw holes, so it was prone to rotating or walking off. A nice tight riser bridge was a quick and dirty fix.
>>
>>30204667
I regret the bad lever man, unfortunately when I got it I started having problems with the screw loosening so I loctited the thing in place.

Now it won't come off and I'm stuck with it.
>>
>>30204714
That's too bad. Idk if you're the anon from the other night but another guy complained about his being locktited in place.

What kind did you use?
Might be able to heat it up with a heat gun and break it free
>>
>>30204732
I am that guy. The loctite wouldn't be such a problem if I still knew where the tiny allen key was that came with the thing. I have a large set of them but none are quite an exact fit and I've semi stripped the screw attempting to loosen it.

If it comes to it I might end up breaking off the entire bolt release and replacing it.
>>
>>30204714
definitely try heating it up. if you have to get it off, you could try epoxying a throwaway allen key in there

That's where you are wrong, on both the original m16 rifle and the current m4 carbine the M203 attached in the same way. Both requiring the removal of the bottom handguard. Be it the polymer hand guard or KAC RAS.so actually that is how some small arms attachments work.

If you are concerned about external ballistics but want to stay short, 12.5", for unsuppressed smoothness you can go 12.5" mid gas as well. If you want to be shorter than a 16" rifle with the can 10.3/10.5".

11.5" is for copouts buying factory rifles that have to be tuned for the dumbest of users.

WAR Upper in combination with an adjustable gas block to fine tune at the start, set and forget is truly the best choice.

Sorry to say that I have a stag arms lefty upper... With that in mind, would you guys suggest a noveske switchblock, govnah or syrac/jp/slr adjustables?

Any concerns on unburnt powder blasting away a suppressor's lifespan for 10.5/10.3? I do plan on using a muzzle brake for sacrificial baffle.

Is the "11.5 > 10.5 due to 40% dwell time" an old bullshit meme?

Thanks for the replies.
>>
>>30208805
I've only had experience with the syrac and it's worked well on my buddies gun but his is an unsupressed 16" gun. I've never suppressed an sbr so I am the wrong guy to ask. For a single adjustable source, I like the govnah. Order it with the pilot dimples and tune it with a hand drill for the weakest ammo you will shoot. Yes adjustment requires a free bullet or a pokey tool, but you aren't counting clicks or worrying about threaded regulators gumming up with carbon overtime and getting stuck.

The switchblocks are tuned to Noveskes specifications, not your individual rifle and ammo choices. Furthermore touching hot gas blocks with my hands to adjust them or being unable to shroud it with a rail without being limited to the noveske rails always bothered me.

As for blast baffle life on a 10.3/10.5 I use a brake mount so the brake serves as sacrificial baffles as well. How much it helps with a Stellite blast baffle/core on modern designs versus older suppressors that had full stainless baffles is up for debate but it gives me piece of mind.

It is true, however if you are planning on tuning your gas system already then it doesn't matter. It is a concern for those who are just throwing a rifle together and shooting it with anything from the shittiest low power ammo to super mega firebreathing bolt lug cracking handloads.

congrats, you bought a peice of metal thats exactly the same as millions of others, and then drilled some holes, your like a machinist or a wizard or something.

tbqh anon, if you have ever used a drill press and sand paper, you can do it.

TL:DR
>buy asteticly pleasing 80% lower
>drill holes
>they are all the same
>jig is important

I just finished my first ar 15 for some reason the barrel shakes and wobbles does anyone know why that is?
>>
>>30209391
either your upper and lower fit is really bad or you fucked up installing the barrel to the upper reciver
>>
>>30209168
Wow this board has become insufferable. Your either a civilian or a POG but anyways, I have about 1000 rounds of 62gr pmc green tips and I'll probably shoot downwards of 55gr federal .223 so probably that.
>>
>>30209492
>Wow this board has become insufferable
There's always been a few of those dickheads on here. Although, I'm not certain whether that guy was trying to be a dickhead or be helpful.
>>
>>30209391
did you put the barrelextension pin into the corresponding opening on the upper ?
>>
>>30209492
No anon, I'm just being realistic.

Probably 1 in 9 then. You may as well match the barrel to the ammo, and that'll do better than a 1 in 7 for 55gr 223.

1 in 7 will do better with heavy, but if you're not really planning on shooting them why bother?
>>
>>30209522
Just being realistic. If you aren't going to shoot a lot heavy projectiles, and instead shoot a lot of 55gr cheapo, you may as well get the barrel for that ammo.
>>
>>30208805
>noveske switchblock, govnah or syrac/jp/slr adjustables?
Noveske if you want to quickly switch from suppressed to unsuppressed, i like my slr but it's not for constant adjustment.
> Any concerns on unburnt powder blasting away a suppressor's lifespan for 10.5/10.3?
As long as you aren't magdumping all day, a brake will only extended the life by a few thousand rounds, i suggest using a brake just to make the can quieter.
> Is the "11.5 > 10.5 due to 40% dwell time" an old bullshit meme?
Yes but you can just open the gas port up and fix that.

Alright /k/unts, question time.
>going to *the* major antique rifle convention/gun show in WY this July
>have approximately $10,000 in gun money remaining for the year
>acquaintance is bringing an original, high-grade, pre-1898 Winchester model 1892 with factory letter for me to look at (approximately valued at $9,000, no idea what he's going to ask for it)
Should I buy it the rifle, or should I finish my AR10 (still need a good barrel and handguard) and buy a S&B PM2 for it?

'92's are my second favorite rifle ever, this particular one is in my favorite caliber ever (.25-20), and there's a good chance he'll cut me a hell of a deal. Plus, the gun is only going to increase in value.

Where is CG?

I wish to shit on his liking of the EMR v1.

>first reason it's inferior to the v2
Proprietary height accessory rail sold only through ALG, which is $20 plus ~$3.85 shipping (ALG wasn't offering free shipping when I ordered it). Now, this isn't really out of line for metal mlok rail sections (though twice what the polymer Magpul ones cost). However, the front and rear cross slots won't fit anything with a recoil lug/cross bar (which is basically everything you'd want mounted out there) because they couldn't be bothered to use anything other than a bog-standard cap screw. Which means, as the pic shows, I'm losing almost an inch of sight radius and smooth top.
>second reason it's inferior to the v2
Total combined weight of the v1 plus the top rail is 12.19oz, with the top rail segment weighing 3.35oz. This is almost 2 ounces heavier than the v2 (10.6oz), for less rail estate (7 slots on the v2 vs. 5 total/3 usable on the v1+add-on).
>third reason it's inferior to the v2
Total cost of the v1 plus accessory rail is higher than the v2 by itself. $145 for the 15" plus $20 for the accessory rail plus at least $7 in shipping (for whatever reason they charge separate shipping for the rail and handguard, and they come from different addresses) is higher than the $165 with free shipping for the v2 (no, I don't know why the v2 and v3 get free shipping).
>fourth reason it's inferior to the v2
QD sockets on the rail don't work with SOCOM/bull/medium-bull/many other barrel profiles that have a thick profile in front of the chamber, there's not enough clearance for a QD button to lock in, it hits the barrel because they're at 3 and 9 o'clock. The v2 puts them at the upper 45* position and they clear then. I also think having them on the upper 45* makes them more ergonomic, but that's personal preference.

SO:
>tl;dr CG can suck it with his misinfo and blatant shilling
>>
>>30207930
Do you just use it as anti seize or do you lube with it too?
>>
where can I find an anodized 80% for less than $40?

Is $65 a good price for 150 rounds of plinking .223? Cheapest I can find in my area and it's at Walmart, which I hate supporting.

Well the cheapest is at Bi-Mart, but they don't take American Express which is what I want to use, so fuck me.
