What's worth building from a parts kit edition
Old thread

FAL. Everything else requires silly levels of additional equipment.
For example, doing a G3 kit build involves folding and welding a receiver flat, which I can imagine is rather easy to bungle if you're doing it for the first time.
How much would you pay for a beat up L1A1?
>>30156516
How hard is an FAL kit to build? I know that no other gun is AR easy but where would it rank?
>>30156870
Didnt build mine personally, the previous owner did. From what I can tell, though, the barrel and gas tube are the only hard bits because they require a receiver wrench, a vise, and decent amounts of torque to put together. Aside from that, it's Legos.
Harder than an AR. Easier than an AK or G3.
>>30156960
>harder than an AR but easier than an AK
Well maybe I'll snag a parts kit eventually.
>>30156804
What receiver?
>>30155716
Clearview Investments.
>>30157192
What the fuck optic is that?
>>30157214
>What the fuck optic is that?
Like clockwork.
>>30156486
>AR-10 still being excluded from the OP
Into the trash it goes. Fuck your thread.
>>30157217
Seriously though. I'm curious.
What the hell is it?
>>30157225
>anyone giving a fuck about the AR 10
I barely give a fuck about my AR-15. It's a good platform and it just werks but it's boring as fuck and there's plenty of neato guns out there that are just that much more fun to shoot.
>>30157214
>>30157225
just let the plebs have their fun
>>30157243
So babbies first red dot then? Neat.
>>30157243
>>30157266
Also
>that dot size
What is it? Fucking 8MOA?
>>30157279
Well considering it's designed for shooting ducks and clays out of a choked shotgun, it's almost certainly no LESS than 8MOA. Probably more.
>>30157279
>>30157294
Probably a lot more than 8MOA for the S1; the R1 seems to be about 6MOA.
>>30157240
Thinking a reliable, precise, consistent firearm is boring isn't a problem with the gun matey, it's a problem with you or the way you use your firearms.
>Anyone implying the AR-10 isn't a good, fun firearm that can hold its own against any of the other rifles in this thread.
'avin a giggle m8.
>>30157430
I never said there was anything wrong with AR's m80. They just don't pique my interest much compared to other guns.
>tfw wasn't around in the 80's to enjoy the huge variety of rifles in the US at the time that weren't AR's or AK's.
I'm getting my first rifle this summer
I'm starting with a 22 like the sticky says. I've only shot my friends 22s, bbs and shotguns before.
How much less accurate are aks than ar15s? I'd like to get an AK because I'd feel better about taking it on several day hikes than an ar. Does an AK have noticeably more recoil? Ibe only shot dinky rifles and I dint want the kick to be too much for me.
>>30157430
they are boring mang, thats all we are saying, no history
>>30157614
>no history
Some history.
>>30157645
Anyone have any experience with these?
>>30157231
weaver qwik-point
>>30157813
it's memes but true
>>30157611
7.62x39 wouldn't recoil much in anything other than a handgun. I grew up shooting 12 gauges and .30-06 rifles, though, so I might be a bit biased.
>>30157813
The Pre-ban ones seem to be in much better shape id say, compared to the ones now.
>>30157611
>AK
>AR
>battle rifles
>>30157645
Well THAT kind of AR. Yeah. I'd love one of those.
>>30157532
>>30157614
You guys can't have fun with a gun unless it has history?
The SCAR has less historical relevance than the AR10, yet it's in the OP.
>>30158049
>>30158049
I never said history m8. I have an AR. I have no interest in buying an AR-10.
