Does condor make decent shit?

For armor plates, is it a universal plate for your chest / back, or do I need two seperate plates?

Nice dubs.
No, condor stuff is crap. ATS and tactical tailor make better budget pouches.
There's a guy here who said he reinforced all of his condor stuff's stiching, but
>do you know how to do that
>do you want to spend time doing that

There's good, budget plate carriers on the market. A surplus chest rig (chincon, sadf m83) with a slick plate carrier works fine and would cost less than you think

As for your plate question, no, almost all carriers are set up for the same style of plate, front and back. There's a lot of different cuts of plate though. Like 5 esapi sizes, law enforcement 10x12

My plates are from armorwear.com
They were cheap $200 for both, but they're 2 pounds heavier than ESAPI medium and a poor cut. They've gone up in price but their cut has improved. Cut is important for coverage and how well it fits in the carrier.

Looking for some help. Ive seen a pic on here a while back of a molle version of the M83 battle jacket, i think someone said it was used by New Zealand, but i cant find it anywhere. I've seen similar split front yolk harnesses but nothing quite edzachary what im looking for.
Pic kinda related, looks almost 100% to this except the pouches are attached by molle not stitched in

lots of people keep speed reloads on the side and the majority of the mags up front.
Why? chest rigs have existed since ww2. There as old as the assault rifle. The chest is an easy to access spot with either hand.

But you're right, lots of people liked support side ammo only. Thats not a lot of ammo if you follow the modern mentality of "single stack slim mag pouches. It also interferes with pistol draws if you like pistols

Also, ammo on the back sides or immediately under the arm is easier to access when low on the belt. It's hard(er) to draw from plate carrier height.
>>29470990
>chest rig H harness
>back pack strap
What's the problem?
>>
>>29471335

Makes sense I didn't think of single stacks. I've got four AR style double mag pouches on left side.

I never understood not having a leg rig for side arm after mil service.

Idk guess to each their own. Thanks for input.

I know rucks can be a pain. Have you looked at the assault packs by chance? It's what I prefer. and I have both the old style and new style rucks. What would be considered a good, no frills chest rig that can hold at least six 7.62x39 AK mags, preferably in black?

I've been looking at this:

http://www.amazon.com/VISM-NcStar-Chest-CVAKCR2921B-Black/dp/B005E98Z4K/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1459656302&sr=8-3

Is this a stupid idea?

Why?

Also, that pattern is ok but not that one. Its from the company thats one step below Condor. So not very durable. Youd probably be better seved witha Chicom surplus one.

For AK mags, yes it's one per pouch, although I've heard you can stretch them by soaking it in water.

5.11 Rush 72 is a pretty decent general purpose pack, 55 liter cap I believe. I had to hose mine down with a layer of water repellent to get it to fully acceptable levels, but it's a 8/10 truck/go bag. If I was covering serious terrain for an extended period I would go to one of my dedicated hiking packs first though.

Fad bag seems a little harsh, it's a big general purpose pack with good material and solid stitch work. Definitely on the same page with regards to serious trekking though, it's something I would want to take out for an indefinite period of time. Well worth it to invest $200-$500 on a legitimate end-all pack for serious use. Kicks ass in the range/truck bag department though. Thing is stuffed full of useful shit from basic survival kit to a big ass h2o bladder to roadside stuff to tools and fasteners. Main compartment still completely empty ready to be stuffed with purpose-specific clothing/good/etc.

I'd have preferred a slick outside myself, but I got a hell of a deal locally.

Fellow gear queers,
I'm looking for a combat uniform, specifically Crye in M81 or a good clone.
I don't really feel like waiting forever and a day to get lucky on ebay to get a set from Crye.

I really like the exposed knee pad on the combat pants, so unless Beyond Clothing is willing to alter their own stuff to accept Crye knee pads, they're out.

Semapo Gear (airshit) looks to be the best option, but I haven't found anybody who has their shit in stock.

And the last option I found seems to be the lowest acceptable quality, which is from FFI (also airshit), who also seem to be out of stock everywhere.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Partially aesthetics, and partially because I'm tired of blown/ worn out knees on pants. I do a lot of shooting in a rocky "pit" for lack of a better word, and I go through pants pretty quick.

I'd go arcteryx over it, I wore the PCU level 5 for work daily over a atom jacket and such in the winter and while it was nice as a light windproof layer if it snowed or rained it got wet pretty quick and typically fucked my day up. I swapped to my drac jacket and was way happier, despite lacking a hood.

The little one holds extra batteries for whatever I'm carrying, as well as an IR strobe whenever I'm given one.

The bigger one has foxtails, roadflares, flaming rocks, and trash bags for SSE.

The Camelbak has flexcuffs, sandbags, and bungee cords, just a small EPW kit for whenever it's needed.

Then there's the chemlights. Really not much reason for those besides me having a fuckton of them and wanting to look cool. I also use them to mark rooms during MOUT or gun positions during ambush prep.
>>
>>29478232

The only issue I have with those pants is that they don't have a knee pad adjuster height. Is Crye the only combat pant that has that?

Depends what you want it for....
>Battle Vest:
good for innawoods, long duration survival dress-up/ fantasies. Easy to get on/ off. If low profile, ideal for bug-out.
>Plate Carrier:
Gun Fight delusions galore. Can't separate armor from load out (usually), increased weight. Not quick to get on/off. Only recommended if you're rolling with a lot of hommies.
>Chest Rig:
Light incursions anticipated. Allows for pack easiest of the three. Versatile for bugging in or out, plus rooty tooty fresh and shooty. Allows for non dedicated us of a plate carrier (Slick carrier)
>Don't Forget about Battle Belt:
Light load-out, good for gaurd duty/ bugging in.

If I can't find something like that, I'm torn between the ITW Fastmags and the BFG ten-speed pouches. As for the TACO, I thought about it (would be cool for my Mini 14 mags), but I don't really want dangling shock cord, and I don't want to have to deal with trimming it.

The OP pack is for short patrols. Not good for a use that would require a 4 part sleep system. I have a SOL green bivvy in mine which fits the role the pack is designed form.

I dont like pull tabs you have to shift to the side for pulling mags out, I don't mind over the top velcro pouches though.

Any other questions about that pack? I love mine, for what it is, it is great and I recommend it or the Milspecmonkey version if it is for CC.

The 5.11 RUSHes have attachment points, if you can figure out a way to hook them up. Maybe Grimloks

up for selling some to me? I literally have money burning a hole in my pocket.
>>
>>29481425
Nope. It is really only meant for 20lbs optimal or 30lbs max. The hardware that attaches the shoulder straps to the pack are polymer. You can put more weight in it if you use the buckles for attaching to a carrier but the buckles are plastic so I wouldn't go much over 30lbs.

I suppose you could put a wire frame or kydex sheet in the hydration pocket to give it more regidity but it wouldnt transfer the load to the straps as a frame should.

Current loadout for HD, the chest rig is Finnish, i'll give a try at SOE micro chest rigs as soon as I get a real gun (something like an AR) or just replace pouches on this one.

I like the Arcteryx caps, and I have had good experiences with the Hatch pads as well. The Arcteryx ones are very light and the cups themselves are flexible, which helps on flat surfaces. The Hatch pads are a little bulkier and the cap is hard. I like hard caps better for work on soft ground, but they can slide around on smooth surfaces.

The Blackhawk SERPA is the best holster on the market
>>
>>29485367
Belt is a match for preference. Snake eater tactical warbelt, hsgi battle belt(slim, slotted, comfort, etc.), eagle, a duty belt, whatever.

Holsters are also preference, level 1-3, kydex, Sherpa, SLS, tek-lok, etc.

You'd have to give specifics about what you want and what you want to do to get a good recommendation. Lucky for you, you have a glock, not so lucky it is a 23.
>>
>>29474285
Put that tourniquet somewhere you can reach it, not out all willy nilly. It'll get dirt and shit, then the velcro won't work as well.
>>
>>29485461
i guess that what im asking though. Id want to put the pistol, mags, and my ifak on the belt so something with molle webbing would accommodate the stuff i have (if thats an advantage?). As for the holster i want somthing that im not going to fumble with while drawing, but wont let go of my pistol in case i have to tacticool parkour across rooftops. Its not for duty but i do plan to take a tactical pistol course at some point so everyday wear isnt a concern but id like it to be functional

Budget?

On first blush ID say a quality cobra riggers belt with Velcro from almost anybody that costs over $60, HSGI battle belt(normal, slim, slim slotted, regular slotted) and a kydex holster from countless companies or a g-code. That would be a great quality starting point for around $200.

Budget would be a cobra rigger belt with Velcro and a Sherpa for like $100, and gives you update potential as you get more tacticool.

Be careful when picking sizes on the belts/warbelt because you may or may not want the ends to touch and you have to account for clothes under it.

Just an FYI, the Elite CO Shooter's cobra belt has been much stiffer than the HSGI cobra belt, in my experience. Though, if you need the inner velcro for a battle belt, go with the HSGI, just beware that you may need to size them larger than you think (my experience, again).
>>
>>29485896
Just do your research on sizing and stick to American made products and you'll be fine. If you buy stuff from places like condor and voodoo, you will end up buying the good shit as it wears out just from moving it around and practice use.

HSGI, VTac, shellback tactical, tactical tailor, SKDtac, grey ghost gear, blue force gear, tactical assault gear are all solid companies for soft goods. There are a lot of smaller companies that also make great stuff, so just look for American made. The exception are companies like maxpedition and vanquest that make shit in Taiwan with codura, Velcro, and YKK.

Learn to love malice or any polymer locking molle clips. Fuck that rattley webbing and snaps bullshit.
>>
>>29486065
>just beware that you may need to size them larger than you think (my experience, again).

True facts. Unless you wear a 30in waist and want an uncluttered front, don't get a medium rigger and small warbelt. I am and I do, but ends touching is so hot right now. Not to mention with the HSGI slimgrip slotted I only have 12 columns to work with... Must resist urge to finish second set in coyote/multicam.
