My opinion is hired soldiers have been extremely common through out military history. It's been proven time and time again "private sector tech and soldiers" are far better than anything conceived by a government entity.
The only reason governments keep their nation-state forces is so they can fight in "unjust" "morally grey" or "popular wars" (Iraq's invasion began as a popular war). If a government relied on a 100% PMC force I don't think many companies, which are publicly traded, would want to be involved.
