News:
-Sara's Kai Ni is confirmed for implementation on September 11. There will also be new yukata CGs.
-The July ranking rewards have been distributed. The new items are the F6F-3N and F6F-5N night fighters of the US Navy. They are early implementation and an update will be carried out in the Sep 11 maintenance related to night battle mechanics for them.
-The Summer 2017 event is underway and is set to end on September 11. It is a large scale 7-map "what if" operation taking place in the west. The event name is Break Through to the West Once More! European Relief Operation. The main operation is four maps, while the extra operation is three maps. The new ships are Hatakaze(E-2 reward), Richelieu(E-4 reward), Sagiri(E-1/E-2 drop), Amagiri(E-3/E-4), Matsuwa (E-5 drop), Luigi Torelli (E-6 Drop) & Ark Royal (E-7 reward).
-More Kai Ni are planned for the latter half of the year. At least one BB and one CL will get a second remodel.
-The 5th year of KanColle will see something "interesting" regarding foreign ships.
-New Akizuki and Matsu-class destroyers are under plans to be added.

The problem with this event is that not only is it an absolute slog disguised as only 7 maps, but also that E7H really has no counter. Hard maps in the past followed a basic rule: either the route was a nightmare, or the boss was. None mixed it to this degree. Even with all the debuffs both the route and the boss node are hellish. You can't compromise to make the route easier because you need everything you have to deal with the boss. It's definitely the closest to pay to win the game has ever been. There is daily login stuff. That's literally what the daily quests are. Weekly is in place of those that normally reward you for 7 days straight, and so on.

Go surface fleet, 1fBB2CAV1CV2DD and 1CL1AV1CLT3DD was mine. You can send some planes to D if you want. It's a long haul so aim for whatever's most cost effective and reliable. Sometimes hard is 10 times harder than kuso mode, where as sometimes it's only twice as hard and it doesn't necessarily happen in the hard events only. You did the TP phase without a transport fleet? God help you. Regardless it's extremely easy and you only need an A rank. If you send route support and an LBAS to the only real problem node (D node) you'll reach the boss without an issue. 1 LBAS to D and 1 to the boss worked for me every time. With full anti-installation and yasen equipment in the escort fleet the S ranks were pretty much guaranteed unless the imps were refusing to die but again you only need an A rank so that should not matter.

I'm still not convinced by the CVL in the escort, but I admit you don't need that much night battle power for chipping.
That said, I'd still put an AP shell on Roma, because you might need a clutch APCI in node G or node T. That should be less of an issue if you put a third fighter on Yura.
If you are worried about Saratoga last slot being wasted by the FCF, you can always use Hiryuu for the chipping run instead, although Hiryuu has less funky crits potential because you can't really put a bomber on her third slot.

Having a CVL in the escort is pretty neat though. They only take part in air phase, but there aren't any nodes in this route with carriers that is single fleet, so two fighters hit the AS cap on CV hime node snugly. She's out on the final run though, I'll just deal with having some fighters in the main fleet.

The one issue with that boss is the tsu in G and boss node. The former can screw your big slots and the latter might just render your LBAS barely serviceable.

Shiden Kai 2 doesn't have accurate stats because the plane has been around since the very beginning and only got the evasion buff after more fighters were added. In fact, lots of starter IJN planes have barebones stats that haven't been updated outside of the mandatory range for LBAS. Zero 32 is relatively new and has some evasion but not 21 or 52. Some may argue that F6F deserves the armor stat more than Seafire, but I don't really care outside of getting more accuracy out of fighters.

Even after this I remain convinced this map is impossible. I'm just relieved it's over and my favorite ships won't face defeat.
The night battle may not look so desperate, but T ended with Shoukaku red and Iowa, Taihou and Abukuma orange. During the day, red Iowa scratched a BB hime to red, who then hit Taihou for just 7, so she was probably saved from going red by the 1 armor on the seafire fighter.
