If I went one card over the amount of new cards I wanted to add today, how to I prevent the deck from adding another card? If I bury or suspend the card another new card just shows up again. For reference it's a kanji recall deck

Does anyone have any advice for learning more natural-sounding, somewhat complex sentence structure? I can make basic sentences but once you start getting out of simple shit like, I don't know, カツ丼は美味しいですね my mind goes blank. I realize that it's best to interact with people to really learn this (and I'[m sure having a larger vocabulary makes creating sentences easier as well) but is there a stepping stone in between that and primitive sentences?

Read more and you'll see how longer sentences are made, naturally. A good shortcut to natural sounding sentences is to learn sentences linkers, like te-form and conditionals, and also noun clauses. Those can add quite a bit of variety to what you say even if the content is basic. The best way to reach advanced composition, which is one of my eventual goals, is to read enough to internalize and learn to mimic native speech. Hell, in english, often, after I read

I haven't yet read any LNs. My main reading material currently are two VNs. Then the side I'm reading one piece and yotsuba, as well as two shoujo manga I want to start too. As it is said here often, the only rule of reading is to read what you are interested in. I found VNs really easy to get into because the texthooker+rikaisama makes it really easy to move through it and just be exposed to and absorb various grammar forms.

Now that I've experienced how easy and fast it is to look up words via Rikaisama, I don't think I'm gonna bother learning via manga or VN or whatever else. It's too fast and convenient. I'd probably retain more new info if I had to manually look things up, but this is nice, too.

What's a phrase that properly catches the meaning of "pretty much" as in "I'm pretty much the boss of this place now"?
I read on jisho that 「一応」 might fit the bill, but I don't know if that's true or not. And I'm guessing that if you want to use it like that kind of adverb you need to make it 「一応に」, right?

Personally I don't like it so much. Sure, realizing how little you know humbles you and stops you from getting ahead of yourself, but it feels like every time I learn something new and look back at the mistakes I've made (be it in how I worded something or how bad my grammar is) I feel more and more uncomfortable even trying to speak the language.
But I can keep going because I know experience and fluency is something that only comes through time spent reading and speaking the language. English isn't my native language either but I ended up becoming very proficient at it over the years, so the same must surely be possible with Japanese.

Take the sentence and then work out if it would be a confirmatory question or not in English as well.

If you've already completed one VN there's no need to worry yourself about picking something easy. Just avoid anything notorious for being super heavy on chuuni and you'll be fine. Using じゃない without any sentence ending particle as a rhetorical question is a pretty feminine thing I think. Usually you'll see か or ですか on the end if it's a rhetorical question, whereas if you see よ or ぞ it's almost certainly a straight negation. There are lots of little clues like this which you will pick up on if you keep reading.

Disregard reps at all. Just go through material difficulty gradually. You won't retain much jumping straight to muramasa.
I had initialy problem getting into VNs because even moege were a bit too hard.
I went back, spent month reading article a day on NHK easy news and went into VNs.
Reading my first VN I was really struggling but continued to read it every day bit by bit and got better to the point when I started my second one it seemed easy.
Instead of doing Anki Reps every day, read set amount of VN lines every day. Even 100 lines is alright for the beginning and as the time goes by and you get better you can set the number of lines higher.
We are all gonna make it!

You can go straight to word learning or you can learn kanji and associate mnemonics with them. Some (most?) people say it's a waste of time, some people do learn them. I recommend using Kodansha's "Kanji Learner's Course" and mining your own deck from it, along with Core study. But you might want to skip it, learn a hundred or so words and go straight to reading. You can try both. Your choice.

It's been a while since I've messed with my Anki settings, but upon looking at them I realized I have a big chunk of missed cards from a while back when I got lazy for a few weeks.

Another problem is that Mandarin is a Northern dialect of Chinese, and I'm pretty sure most Onyomi are actually taken from Southern dialects of Chinese (e.g. Cantonese).

Some people just have a personal vendetta against college. Introduction classes are just that, introductions. They are almost always piss easy and slow no matter the subject.

Academic classes will never take you close to knowing Japanese with any skill level that can be considered fluency. Considering that you can reach basic fluency in six months by self studying and academic classes either cost money or cost opportunity, it's actually a net negative to take an academic class in language.

There is one exception: A Japanese linguistics course will teach you things that are actually impossible to "learn" "naturally" until you have a native-like level, so they're actually useful. They can also make self-learning faster. Just don't take a normal class that's designed for learning the language and uses something like Genki or JSL, unless it's for credits and free.

It isn't necessary, absolutely, but a degree will definitely help you get work in Japan if that's your goal. I think that if you pace yourself over a number of years, you can accomplish any amount of reading goals. I have dozens and dozens of manga I'd like to read, but I know I'll get there eventually as my ability improves. Reading is a skill that can always be worked on.

Although if you have a shitload of VNs you want to read, I can't help you as those things really drag on forever.

Does 「天使が好きを見るで人間は。」 mean "Angels like to look at humans"? I just randomly thought of something to write and this popped up. My thought process behind it is that 「天使」 means angel and angels are the ones performing the liking so I put 「が好き」 to get "Angels like". Then Angels are also the ones doing the looking so 「を見る」 or "to look". Then followed by 「人間は」 "Humans". In all from my rough understanding of Japanese and particles I think this should mean along the lines of "The Angels like to look at [the] humans". Is this correct or would it at least be understood? Also could you please correct any mistakes with the reasoning behind them. Thank you!

You're trying to map English grammar onto Japanese in a way that doesn't make sense. The は particle never comes at the end of a sentence, and 好き is not a verb. Here's what you're after:

天使は人間を見るのが好きだ。

Depending on the context, this could also mean that angels like to look after or keep an eye on humans. If you mean that they enjoy gazing upon the human form, you might consider 眺める or 見つめる rather than 見る.
