Man, Parfait is such a good game, kamige even.

Is it ok to talk about VNs that originally came out in English but were later untranslated into Japanese?
>>
>>17352369
Why would you advertise it as "last game in the series" anyway? You're blocking yourself from making any money from that series in the future, how is that desirable?

>>17352492
I'm assuming these videos are recorded in dev machines, so even devs playtest with this insane lag and don't feel like maybe they should optimize the damn thing?
>>
>>17353040
Going in and optimizing an inefficient piece of software is not always easy, and developer time is limited and expensive.
>>
Speaking of Parfait, does anyone have a download link? I've been trying to find it from nyaa, animesharing, and obscure chinese websites, but everything was dead. Which is strange for such a profilic game.

If you can't find anything else, maybe try this. Some people report issues with unzipping though. Parfait.exe opens the Japanese version while 帕露菲.exe is for the Chink version.
The game's also on AnimeBytes if you have an account.

I'm hyped.

In the Spring chapter, Rikka isn't exactly the most pleasant girl. Then there's the incredible and shameful cliffhanger with Mayuri's route. Why was that done like that? Well, obviously to hook you through all the season until the final Winter chapter. They (I.G.) got a lot of shit because of that. Have in mind, those episodes are priced around half what costs a full game, at about 4800 yen each. Yet, in duration, they are almost like a fully featured game. Almost smashed the box in the trashbin, because I didn't expect having to bother with a cliffhanger for years. But again, they did the same shit or worse with Kara no Shoujo.

The Summer episode, centered around Erika, was gold. A full pleasure to read. Maybe a bit slow at the start, it really catches on fire after the introductions. They step it up a lot in number of scenes and CG. It includes a theatrical representation of Rapuntzel and a ballet very nicely done of The Sleeping Beauty. Mayuri is still awol, but Suou is very present during the whole chapter (poor Suou is a depressive trainwreck, but still provides for some very interesting developments). In this chapter, another character is introduced at the start, Chidori, who becomes Erika's mutual love interest thanks to the nun's deed who decided to pair them up as Amitié. It starts with a very rough relation that wraps up progressively. At this point I knew the series was saved.

The third chapter centers around Yuzuriha, the doubtlessly best character in all the series. Smart and talkative without being cocky as Erika was, yet witty and fun. A Sun that delivers life wherever she breathes. This chapter truly resurrect the series from its initial letdown and made people to come back to it, as the devs themselves acknowledged. It also provides even more CG.

Nothing is known about the Winter chapter. Absolute secretism other than it will give conclusion to Suou and Mayuri's route.

Two and three are more or less standalone. It seems, after the first chapter, someone caught the writer and the whole team by the balls and told them to step it up, and they did so. They also survived these years thanks to their events and the Manyo concerts.

The best part? The drawings and the music. Some more elaborated CG events at the second episode.
The worst part? Episodic all ages yuri. And the writing; difficult to explain. Its strongest point is the elaborated writing style yet it's also its weakest point because the dumb author introduces so many tryhard stupid anachronistic jokes and references. But nothing is worse than the fuck-it cliffhanger at the first chapter. Still it will depend on how the last chapter is delivered and so far there is reason for optimism.
>>
>>17354932
>cliffhanger

I think those are supposed to make you interested in a sequel, and not make you never want to touch the series again.
Honestly I don't care about a cliffhanger. I never really did. Yet, while during my time reading it, I was always thinking of continuing reading the series, but once I got the ending, all interest evaporated in an instant. By now I have somewhat forgotten, why it was so terrible, but regardless... there was a lot more wrong with that ending than just being a cliffhanger.

Yes I made a mistake, leaving AKS behind, a dark nukige where you have sex for money and power is always intersting to read. In 手垢塗れの堕天使
you play as male MC with a low self esteem this time, and the main heroine is the idol. What will the idol get from having sex with him? Is going to be the intersting part.

>What will the idol get from having sex with him?
Protag got plastic surgery so he looks like an ikemen, that's why the girls like him. I found him insufferable as he still behaves like an ultra beta and the two H scenes (more like one and half) weren't even that hot. Probably won't check the full game

Probably children.

Is there actually a pregnant idol game already? Not one where you make them pregnant and destroy them or whatever, one where the girls are pregnant and they HAVE to be so, to stay idols, as that's part of their success? Would be kinda funny, as that'd be the complete 180° of the normal idol scene.

Because of ad:lib actually having a release this month as well, I figured I'd go back to dokodona and play some other routes aside of the one I did last year. I also read (most) of common again. The game pretty nicely reminded me, why it's so nice and in a way also different from typical moege. The whole scene with the protag's friend surrounding the birthday worries in Tsubasa's route are absolutely gold. Best stuff I've read in a moege in a while, and it didn't even involve a heroine. The game really isn't afraid to show, how little freedom one has with a girlfriend. Wait, both girlfriends are doing something with their friends? FREEDOM!
Everything past that is for the most part good comedy. Though the friend is generally pretty nice. Helps, that Tsubasa is his sister, and that's a rather normal brother sister relationship. Something you normally don't really get so see in VNs either. She has her ways to make her brother do, what she wants... especially after he got his girlfriend, which just happens to be her best friend. It's.. something else.
>>
>>17356880
Yeah I really liked Tsubasa, the 4-way hangouts were surprisingly really fun. Made me wish they didn't magically make everyone else in a game disappear once you get on the girl's route in a lot of other games. Plus she's a cutie. Reminds me of Iroha from Oregairu.

Just finished twincest route and it was fucking lovely, Miu is miracle of modern moe-engineering. And fucked up in the head just the way I like it. I really hope the other routes are even remotely as good.

If I have to bitch, there was maybe a little too much porn, but at least it felt relationshippy instead of cheap excuses to get the reader to crank one out. And I guess that nebulous quality of "really good but missing that indefinable something keeping it from being amazing" but I should read the rest of it before passing judgement.

Soundtrack is just gorgeous.

paschime3_04.jpg

Done with Pastel Chime 3. (hard route)

At the end I didn't really bother with the plot anymore, as it's just retarded. Whatever you fight, there's some kind of betrayal or mindcontrol involved. Either your enemy is betrayed by their "boss", or your characters are betrayed by someone who then is your enemy. At one point even your characters are betrayed by someone, who is betrayed by someone, who is also betrayed by someone. It's utterly retarded, really.
As such, the enemies aren't worth talking about. Yet the game acts as if it was. The actual bad guys are too shallow to care about, the other ones were only fooled anyway. There's literally 0 interesting conflict in this game.
It's sad. The game is obviously inspired by Persona, but completely failed at the story part. In Persona 4 you may not have much of a story, but at least you are dealing with inner conflicts of characters for a good chunk of the game. Obviously betrayal and such isn't necessarily bad if it happens, but if literally EVERY enemy is in some way either betrayed/controlled or betrays someone (or both at the same time!), it gets retarded.

But at least you have the "s-links". Those are varying in quality. If they try too much story, it gets retarded, otherwise you can have some good fun. This is also where randomly best girl of the game appears, as a minor side character. (Botan)
These are very badly connected with the main-story, which isn't so different in Persona, but here they are quite a bit longer. Gives in part a weird feeling. You don't actually have to even see ero-scenes with at least Lilly to get her ending. I'd assume that's similar to all but one of the other heroines. Getting their link towards the ero has no gameplay advantage anymore either, and is fairly costly, too. That's where NG+ comes into play. Aka, have fun replaying shit to see more scenes here.

The gameplay is also rather wonky. The stats are an unbalanced mess. Def doesn't do anything, which pretty much leads to a domino effect. It's also incredibly minimalistic and kinda boring. +5% physical damage here, -5% magical damage taken there, or how about +10% hit chance? Yeah, thanks. I'm so excited. I suppose that makes balancing things easier. Binds level up based on the character level, which means you can't grind a low level bind later on, which is another crappy design decision. Speaking of binds, there's nowhere near enough. At the second half of the game, you get way too little, plus some just suck as, again, anything defensive is useless. Obviously no fusion to really customize your abilities or whatever either.
Elements and whatnot also give persona vibes, but are also minimalistic. Resistance lowers damage a little bit, weakness raises it. But really just like 20% or something. Null... nulls damage, and reflect reflects. But I've never seen that. Why? Because you ALWAYS see resistances. So why would you ever hit something with an element that'd get reflected or nulled? They really didn't think things through.
Finally there are too many item cheats. Characters can equip up to three consumable items, and some are dumb. Tension+ and damage+ (for one attack) come to mind. Cheap and OP as fuck.

Plus Disc I'll not be playing. Supposed to be mostly ero. I'll check NG+, but I think I'm done. Doubt there's much reason to play on, given that I don't care about more s-link scenes and there probably only being old battles with higher stats as additional challenges. It was still.. kinda enjoyable, but I can't recommend this.

Is there actual romance in Flowers? I like yuri but I avoid yuri VNs because I get the impression a lot are either just subtext or not very good.
>>
>>17359544

Yes, but it's constrained by being all ages so it lacks the hot passion of the bodies interweaving. The story provides for reason to halt further development beyond the initial romance phase, which can be bad in some cases. On the other hand, you avoid (unnecessary?) fanservice scenes, although the author cannot avoid fanservice retorts in the text. It doesn't get to a Sarah Waters level, to be clear about its quality.
You could define two parts in a Flowers chapter. The first part or common route has the main character playing the role of Sherlock Holmes, solving a case under the theme of The Seven Mysteries adapted to the school setting. The second part then proceeds to develop the romance until the point where it gets cockblocked. Is it worth it? Depends how the romance between Suou and Mayuri gets solved in the final chapter. But there is no reason to assume it will be any different than a satisfactory end that stops at the height of the romantic peak, before it gets the opportunity to develop into more vulgar content. All ages, mannnnn.

It being all ages is one of the reasons I'm actually interested in it to be honest.

I don't mind all ages, I'm just too used to proper relationships in my VNs that stopping at JUST GOOD FRIENDS wouldn't feel rewarding.
From what you're saying it sounds like something I'd like. I'll wait for the last volume before starting. Thanks.
>>
>>17359700
It's made for you, then.
The only people who got angry are the old fans who came from previous I.G. works expecting a full self contained visual novel (i.e. non episodic), sex and gore galore.
Also, episodes Summer and Autumn are independent enough by themselves. It's only the first one that has the cliffhanger in the Suou route.

And done with Tsubasa's route in Dokodona. Well, that ended abruptly. At first I though, it'd be a bit more of a normal route, as it started pretty "normal", but in the end I'm not sure if it was much longer than Ishi's route. Just different. This simple had no final drama arc or anything.
Still fun, and in typical Dokodona way it made me think once more, what most moege do wrong. And in this case: Family. Tsubasa herself may be a fun girl herself (though my heart still belongs to Ishi), but what makes her special is her brother and to an extend also her best friend. The brother, also the best friend of the protag, is actually a really great character and due to the obviously coming familiar ties with him and his girlfriend it's just something else.

Most moege simple focus so much on the girl, that they completely forget everything else. Sure, sometimes that makes sense. Ishi for example also doesn't have much of a family she brings with her. But in exchange, the mother of the protag has a major role in that route, which was also nice. As simple as Dokodona kinda is, strangely enough it does so many things that should be normal, but for whatever reason aren't. Will be interesting to see, if the next ad:lib title holds up with this. But before that, I'll probably still do Abe's route and round it off with another playthrough of Ishi's. Ageishi and the teacher aren't my thing. Although I wouldn't be surprised, if there's some good stuff in those routes as well...

How come traps are pretty popular in eroge but there are rarely gay scenes? Crossdressing is inherently gay so I don't see how you can like one without liking the other

Because eroge is extremely standard when it comes to H-scenes. Basically every H-scene boils down to blowjob, titjob, or vaginal sex. Anything that breaks that mold will threaten and intimidate most otaku. Gay traps are more likely to be in doujin games.

well I can virtually guarantee the discussion for biman is going to be pretty much limited to 'muh dick.'

thing is no one else can really keep up with all the new releases either so we just pick one or two (if any). or simply wait until opinions trickle in from everyone else. though christ, there's probably only like what, two dozen regulars in these threads?

anyway. most everyone else is in the same boat and so will probably be willing to discuss these things for quite some time after they come out. the only real alternative is that you skim through it and thus barely even get to get in on the discussion.

just relax, mate. pick a thing you want to read and there'll likely be other people playing it at the same time. the things you don't get around to until later, people will probably still want to talk about when you're done. or you might find out it actually sucked ass and so you get to dodge the bullet.

Honestly I don't remember the last time I played and finished a title on its release day. Usually I just wait for people's opinions and/or EGS before playing unless it's from a studio I'm familiar with.
There are too many decent to great titles in my backlog and time is limited that I can't really risk going through stuffs that might turn out to be garbage.

Come on Japan, someone among the 127 million people living there must know English.

I don't know the context, but I don't see what's engrishy about that, assuming she's actually taking pudding to someone.

it does tend to be used with certain types of food that go bad in certain types of ways. that pudding for instance obviously isn't going to go rotten on the way to her friend's house, it'll just separate or get squishy or something that will change its condition.

What are some games that you have to play with a guide? Games that, even though were clearly meant to be read in certain order, the developers for some reason didn't enforce it.

Also, what are some games that you should not play with a guide, for whatever reason?
>>
>>17367646
On a related note, I have an urge to always read with a guide no matter what because I'm afraid of missing a CG or nice scene in a route, but at the same time I feel like that could be spoiling the experience with some games, especially if the choice/mystery is supposed to be part of the fun (like in a mystery-based VN).

Anyone else have/had this problem? How do you deal with it? One blind run, then follow a guide for the remaining routes/endings, or what?
>>
>>17367646
>What are some games that you have to play with a guide?
A fuck ton. Though rather than "have to" it's more the fact that it's more convenient and the system is shitty designed. Like YU-NO.

>Also, what are some games that you should not play with a guide, for whatever reason?
Tototo, or a classic dating sims like Doukyuusei. In the former because of spoilers, in the latter to truly get into the feel of real dating. Also I'd say stuff with flowcharts like Appliques games are better played without a walkthrough.
>>
>>17367646

You should never touch Magical Charming without a guide. You may just end up hating yourself and the game. Although I personally didn't like what I've read of the "true route" anyway. Even WITH a guide, it was a major pain in the fucking ass, and the story wasn't my thing either.

Similarly, Chaos;Child. In this case it's more because experimenting is the worst thing ever with its skipping speed and possible crashes. Even following the guide at seiya will have you skip around 5 hours to see everything. And you obviously can't just do something else, you get relatively frequent shit where your input is needed in some way.

Seisai no Resonance has a not locked true route. I don't think it's a good idea to play it first. Don't need to do it last either, but.. yeah. Second time and onwards you can skip gameplay, which I think you want in the true route. Also if you want to read other routes, you should probably do it before.
>>
>>17367713
>I don't think it's a good idea to play it first
Why not? Or rather than first I wanted to make it the only route I played when I get around to it.

It is a shame that Satou-san (I mean Satouin of course) doesn't have a route. She's smart, levelheaded and cute but stuck in position of side-character. Inui Saki ("archrival" of the game) got the same treatment but she'll get a route in sequel at least. This situation isn't that rare and I can remember many other examples of great side-girls but it is always pains my heart.
>>
>>17367798
I can hear the OHOHOs from here. Fuck it's been forever since I found a good ojou route.
>>
>>17367779

Well, it's the true route, so it'll feel rather weird to do other routes afterwards. Some may not care too much about that, but yeah.. it has all you'd expect a true route to have.

Then the aforementioned gameplay. I still don't know if something was bugged, or if the chosen difficulty somehow changed because I played some other mode at some point or whatever, but the last battle in my first route was a bitch on "easy". You essentially could only get "hit" once without dying. I've never seen anyone else having had that big of an issue, so I wouldn't be surprised if something got messed up for me in SOME way, but yeah.

Finally it's about atmosphere and such as well. I feel like going a more "normal" way first is an advantage. Why is kinda a spoiler, but it's probably at its best if you come from Yuu's route, like I did, and you actually like Yuu at least well enough. But regardless of that, it's a clear "final" thing to do, in my opinion. The roommate way may work better, as that's a more "normal" view on things you get, that is lacking in the true one.
That said, if you actually play it blind, it's not like you'll really have the choice. The game has a good amount of kinda blind choices, and the initial branch is old rpg style questions you get, as in "this is the situation, what would you do?". It's actually kinda cool, as it's about partnering girls and finding out their affinities towards each other, but.. yeah. You have three possible partners you can get there. That roughly defines which routes in the end are possible. I'd just do the questions honestly and roll with what you get. If it allows you the true route.. so be it I guess?
>>
>>17367667
I used to do one blind run first, but then I played Steins;Gate 0 and got the Altair end on my first run. It was super anti-climactic and then Mother Goose and Automaton just weren't as good. Reading only Stardust at the end felt really empty.
Honestly, it pretty much ruined my experience with the game and now I can't play anything without a guide
>>
>>17367713
>And you obviously can't just do something else, you get relatively frequent shit where your input is needed in some way.
I had it up on my second monitor so I could go do other stuff and look back whenever I needed to make a choice. Still a disaster, although not as bad as the atrocity that was Chaos;Head's choice system.

And I read the Seisai no Resonance true route (normal ending) first, it's okay to play first I think, it doesn't really have any major reveals that negatively affect your experience of the other routes. The main issue is doing the good ending has slightly less impact if you've left a long gap between reading the rest of the route. I'd just do what >>17367842 recommended and play blind.
>>
>>17367857

Damn, that reminds me the worst case of "NEED GUIDE" I've ever encountered, including "it kinda ruined the game for me": Virtue's Last Reward.

That game allows you to freely jump around the flowchart, but in exchange, it has one million "half endings", which you can get past with a certain item or information you get from another branch. This is so heavy, that you can't even finish the game without that happening once. And the content past the "to be continued" ending is generally short and not very impressive either.
If that wasn't bad enough I then ended up in a branch where I needed a password or something, and the protag was like "if I think just a little more, I should get it. I feel like I should know this!". So I was sitting there and thought and tried and eventually gave up and looked online. Game lied. I rage quit.

Honestly, the biggest complaint people had about 999 was the awful coffin ending. And what did they do in the sequel? Make every branch into one, AND lie to the player? Holy shit. It's one of the worst VN game designs I know. I only don't call it the worst, because something like Root Double does exist...
>>
>>17367909
Wasn't that kinda the point of VLR though? That you're supposed to be jumping all around the timeline, and you have the actual plot-related ability to jump to anywhere on the flowchart and progress as far as you can from there. I don't recall having had any problem with it since 999 basically spelled it out that the plot requires player input because you yourself are a character.
>>
>>17367798
how easy is aokana for a newbie trying not to be an EOP?
>>
>>17367976
how easy is it for you to read that screenshot?
>>
>>17367963

It was done absolutely horribly though. The branches are short anyway, with some endings being so abrupt, I'm not sure why they even exist like that. The game always cuts away if things get interesting. Getting back later killed the flow and you just have some 10 minutes of whatever to read. And it then lies in regards to what you can do and what you can't.

The story can be quite nice at times, but I still feel like they did literally everything they could to not have it be like that. The problem is also, that certain solutions just don't work because they aren't the one the game wants, even though they work just as much. But that's a general problem with games like VLR I guess. I mean, I know I had really bad luck with my blind choices. It should not happen though. You should at least not get told you can solve something you can't.
>>
>>17368010
I mean I'm obviously not reading at fluent/native speeds, but I can understand it just fine. Is that representative of the difficulty as a whole?
>>
>>17368011
But 999 was all about learning thing in one branch and using it in another. I think you may have just misinterpreted what they said by "if I think just a little more, I should get it. I feel like I should know this!" They wanted you to go try another branch without stating it outright since it's not something Siggy was supposed to know at that point.

Though I dunno why I'm defending it, VLR was pretty weak and really only served to cement my suspicions that Uchikoshi a) only knows how to write one plot with the same one twist and b) had no intention whatsoever of tying up any plot threads related to 999. Didn't touch ZTD and from everything I've heard I made the right choice.

No way. Doukyuusei is less of 'Dating Sim' and more of 'Stalking Simulator', both of Doukyuusei games are pain in the ass to go through without any walkthrough whatsoever. Always use walkthrough for that.

Kakyuusei however, the easier girls can be earned without walkthrough and has actual dating mechanics in it instead of date from triggering event flags. It should be played without walkthrough for the first time, then use walkthrough to get the missing CGs/get the harder girls with bizzare event flags.

Anon, nobody gives a shit about playing naturally on subsequent playthrough with the same girl. Anyone that don't care about the leftover CGs will already drop the game/chasing another girl by this point.
>Doukyuusei isn't even that hard without a 攻略.
Yeah, go try finding girl the girls in 20+ places with limited save and no indicator if you're missed crucial plot of the girls that you like. Or the fact that you can get locked out from getting one girl because you want to settle a debt that you have with another girl. Also fuck the save system.

Some of Asuka route's stuff gets brought up again in Aqua After, though overall yeah it strangely has much less major plot revelations than the previous routes. The epilogue however is pretty important, so you can't skip the route altogether.

The following unvoiced spriteless side stories could be skipped I guess, but they do flesh out some background information if you're interested and has characters that are somewhat related to Aqua After. こもれび is a bit boring but かげろう is pretty entertaining and has the juicier background plot stuff.

Remember that Aqua After isn't included in the remake so you have to play it separately, after finishing the other stuff first of course.

The game is fairly linear, and most of the routes are only minor side-content, which includes hers. It's fine, for what it is, and a nice little "what if..?", but that's about it. She has her role in the story though.
Mind you, it's not a moege. Things like dating or the romance isn't the main thing. And if you have a too weak heart, then the one other enforced "route" may not leave you too happy. Especially if you like the girl. Pic unrelated.

How is Monmusu? The newest two games in the series sure have high scores on egs for unvoiced RPG maker stuff and the old trilogy are between 80-86 too.
>>
>>17370256
deserving of its scores. though if you're new to the series i would wait for the final installment so you can just marathon it, or only play the first trilogy and wait on the second since the games combine and progress carries over. your opinion of the first game should determine if you keep playing or drop it

yes and no, i haven't played it yet since i'm waiting for all parts to be released but supposedly the ending of the first trilogy wasn't supposed to happen and created a time rift, so the characters and setting are technically the same but from different timelines, some radically different
>>
>>17370438

Aren't the rpg maker parts a little too long to play back to back anyway? The first alone has an average of 50 hours on EGS.
Though I guess some really like playing something long as fuck back to back like that.

i'm not someone to normally get hyped for things but i recall finishing part 1 of the original trilogy, eagerly awaiting part 2, finishing it in 2 days, and realizing i had many more months to wait for part 3. even in the first part of the rpg maker trilogy they included some end-game content that you could grind for and i'm personally not 100% confident i could stop myself from doing so even knowing it would be a waste of time since i could just get to it later through normal game progression

Finished Newton, I quite enjoyed the main-story. The side-routes are a bit weird. They aren't bad, but some of them kinda make the main-route feel a bit weird, which is unfortunate.
The ending itself was also nicely bittersweet. You don't find that in many eroge nowadays. (especially not those, which you'd think are some kind of moege at first view) Because of that (?) there is a not canon epilogue that's a happy ending of sorts, though the author made very sure you understand, that it's not canon. But I think that's for the best. I suppose it's rather rare to see a not canon "doujinshi style" additional epilogue/route, but it works quite well as a final something here.

Yeah, I liked it. If anything though, the game was a little too fast paced. Yes, a VN too fast paced, crazy I know. Some things I feel like should've been shown a bit more or become a bit more of a topic. There's also one villain of sorts in the story, but he is a rather weak character as well, and not exactly a high point of the story. There was a lot of fun to be had though and some rather nice characters and such as well. And bonus points for Lavi's bonus h-content featuring her inventions. Though I'm sure the latter one will be too weird for most people.

I actually liked how the "villain" ended early seeing he's not as interesting and it would feel everything would drag on with him still on the story. Also about how the VN itself has few fillers at the expense of character development (like maybe doing icha icha for 2 hours or some shit). And that bittersweet ending.
>>
>>17375449

I'd rather have an interesting villain though. The game generally had a bunch of shortcuts here and there, and those aren't always that pretty I feel. Some things could've needed a bit more attention.
And by that I don't mean the lovey dovey stuff, that's also mostly missing I guess. That being rather minor is fine, although completely ignoring how characters end up interested in each other feels rather weird at times making it not fine. Some of the branches are just weird as fuck. Which is why I feel that those side-routes drag the game down, even though they aren't terrible. It's just that the way they exist it drags the main-game down.

Not sure if its because of the eroges, but at least I wont be able to marry for sure. I own a middle size company and have a good income so getting a woman to marry is not a problem, actually had three marriage candidates in last 5 years which my mother found because I'm refusing to show any interest in it, but couldnt accept any of them at all. I even slept with the last one a couple times, with a "hey maybe if I fuck her I can feel something for her and start a relationship from there" but nope, I just cant feel any shit for them, everything seems so fake and bad. Well its probably because they're after my money and doesnt feel anything for me as well though.

I'm perfectly fine with this, you can call me stingy but I worked too hard for this stuff and definitely dont want to share all of it with something like a sex toy anyway.

Same. I've thought of countless ways I could accomplish this game's theme for myself. The only thing I can think of is pay some Chinese farmer's daughter $30,000 to have my child and not name me the father then go pick her up 16 years later and take her home with me but then the girl would never know I'm her father so .... it's less immoral and exciting.

It's amusing how desperately you're trying to backpedal yourself out of this with semantics but one of the requirements you listed is still "getting with guys". There'd be no reason to request it in the first place if you weren't interested in that. The sooner you accept your homosexual tendencies rather than being so strongly in denial about them the better your life will be.
>>
>>17377547
No, here's what happened, I asked for a game with a cute girl as I'm tired of self insert beta males.
You said there's Yuri shit.
I said i'm not interested in girls with girls but rather if they end up with guys or even if there's no relationship involved.
You then replied saying that I want otomoge, completely dismissing the second point.
I said I don't as there's games with female protagonists that aren't otomoge like danganronpa and majokoi.

Here's where your autism kicks in. You saw my other criteria and points but decided fuck that shit.
You thought 'I make a funny, I call him gay, you now like otomoge and nothing else you say matters, I ignore you don't want yuri but don't ignore you want otomoge.'
So you decided to post just that.
Now I call you out on your lack of reading comprehension, and overall EBIN funny 'you are now gay' faggotry. By mentioning nukige has female protaginists and even ask you if you consider those other games as otomoge or not.
You thought to continue with your ignorance and just keep spouting your poorly put together arguement.
Next I respond, which is pretty poor on my part for responding to the mentally immature.
You then continue on your charade of shitposting and instead of reading you desicde to say 'hey you like arguing, you must be gay'!
Which brings us to this, you apparently think straight relationships are gay, if seen from the point of view of the female and consider yuri straight as they're both females.
No doubt you will cherry pick what you want from this post or just ignore it and continue with your charade.
If you ever had a thought of comitting suicide I'd go for it, no doubt your parents and other many others would be more than pleased.
Consider this me filtering you.
>>
>>17377635

You do realize that you yourself are dismissing, that you are fine with the girl ending up with guys? That IS what's commonly referred to as otomege. Perhaps you don't ONLY want that, which is fine, but if you are actually fine with the female protag ending up with guys, do check that stuff out.
You can go to their thread and ask for something not too heavy on romance as well, perhaps with a bunch of other female side characters. Some otome games even have friendship routes for girls. But we here don't really know much about it, nor does that stuff belong here as we have a separate thread for it. There isn't really anything inherently wrong with guys enjoying shoujo works either, so just take a look around and ask there. With "our" kind of VN, there's also plenty of stuff not very focused on romance, so otomege should have SOMETHING there as well. It's not all the female targeted equivalent of dumb het moege.

If for whatever reason you hate the sound of "otomege", try out something like Sakurai's steampunk series. It's one of the few series that's not really for a specific gender. Depending on the game you may have a male or female protag, though perspective may also change around. They are very untypical for eroge, though that's somewhat normal for liar-soft I guess.
Also generally speaking, you have better luck with stuff that changes perspectives. A 100% female protag is very rare in games without at least yuri subtext or being an otomege.

Ideally you'd want it to be exactly like the game, so you have a wife who's busy with work so can't come home and leaves your daughters with you. That way you get the added fun of NTRing her while having her financially support your lifestyle. Realistically I guess finding such a wife would be difficult so you'd have to compromise. You could do your idea but actually stay with the girl a bit so she remember you when you go to collect her 11 years later.

I've been wondering for a while but what's with japanese media and portraying bad guys as comically evil?

They may act normal but when other people find out they're evil, their personality goes for ride and they become sick, laugh maniacally and overall break their character.
I mean I get they were putting on a facade to trick people.
However why can't they have the same personality or an improved personality over some generic evil one.
It really feels like a cop out like the writer doesn't want you to sympathize with the evil character or they can't write a good evil person so they make them as hate-able and annoying as possible.
It really is a disappointment. The only decent evil characters I've seen are protagonists really.
>>
>>17378721
>I've been wondering for a while but what's with japanese media and portraying bad guys as comically evil?

I feel like this happens in a lot of American media as well. Although I must say Japanese media seems like the worst, most consistent offender in this area. I also hate it and cringe whenever a villain does an evil maniacal laugh or changes personality.
>>
>>17378721
>>17378872
it's bad writing 101, gotta make sure we know for sure they're evil because the plot won't work if there's no bad guy to do bad things. though i think there's something cultural in that nips aren't great with subtlety and work best with more overt social cues.

personally my least favourite type of bad villain writing is the sympathy bait ones where they try too hard to make them understandable/sympathetic but they shit the bed on the characterization or it comes out of nowhere, so they expect you to feel sorry for a shitheel who's spent like 20 hours antagonizing everyone because he got bad touched as a kid or some junk.
>>
>>17378721

It's really a Japanese thing to overdramatize in general. That's part of it. It's also lazy writing.
Personally I'm not a fan of it either. I enjoy if enemies are actually acting in a way, you can at least sorta understand. It's fine if it's wrong, even obviously wrong, but as long as they themselves have an understandable goal: Sure. Like, you know, wanting to save someone they love or preventing "worse", provided there's actually a good chance that there IS worse. And so on.

There are a few games that do this fairly well. Ar Tonelico 3 comes to mind with its whole setting. The "bad guys" (or girls in this case I guess) simply do something which is necessary to sustain their world. The party essentially doesn't get to know that for a while and their actions seem rather evil and dominating, but there's good reason for it. It's not ideal, but in the end the party simply grasps at straws and their way is more of a gamble than anything.
It's an easy to create conflict. Do you want to keep a status quo, even if it requires periodic sacrifices, or do you want to gamble to perhaps solve the situation though it could also ruin everything? Both ways are understandable. As long as one side isn't doing silly villain laughs that is.

The main plot of Fortissimo is also really nice in that all characters have their reasons for fighting. No blackmail, mind-control or other silly things involved, aside of the general setting making them fight to a certain extend. (pretty much, once the fighting area is created, someone has to die in the next whatever amount of hours, or the whole island they are on gets pretty much destroyed, killing everyone on it) That said, people try to find solutions and stand by their own believes when it comes to when, who and why to fight. In a certain way even "if". They got into a really shitty situation together and yet they know, at some point they may need to fight, as their own priorities simply clash. Much better than "well, they were just randomly mind-controlled, blackmailed or fooled" and after defeating them, they are automatically good guys. The much more indirect pressure of the setting allowed a lot. They are all dealing with the same unchangeable situation, HOW they deal with it is what leads to all kinds of nice discussions and such as well.

Unfortunately this kind of stuff his actually somewhat rare. A lot of villains aren't even worth looking at, because they are too shallow, or they just get their "feel for the maniac!" random scene a short time before they get defeated. But it has to be liked to an extend in Japan, otherwise games like Baldr Sky Dive wouldn't be as popular.

>>
>>17380862
Less sales, less people willing to take risks. The best eroge writers transferred over to light novels for the most part too as it pays better. Or cases like F/GO grabbing Sakurai and Higashide.
There is practically no way for eroge to make a return to the 00's glory of experimental titles save for a literal miracle. Luckily that era left us lots of nice titles for the backlog and we still get a few alright games per year at least.

shinsounoise_01.jpg

Tried to finish up Shinsou Noise, which I put on-hold after chapter 4. But chapter 5 is just boring and 6 was terrible. It's unfortunate, as the game had a relatively nice cast, solid production values and so on. But it just goes so down-hill.

The problem is mostly the awful structure. You get into the game with a fairly interesting main mystery. But that's hardly dealt with. Instead you get random cases, which aren't exactly short either. After a bunch of them, that "main mystery" gets randomly solved. It feels so very unimpressive. Though I guess at that point, you don't really care much anymore anyway. You may wanna know whodunnit, but just to be FINALLY done with the freakin' thing.
There are also issues with a main villain or whatever only really getting introduced in the second last chapter (last with an actual "case" even), which feels very dumb as well. Then again, the whole chapter 4 reveal was dumb already. That should've been an "end of prologue" thing I feel.

Speaking of which, the game would've been better without the silly main-mystery, and simply could've introduced all the staff from chapter 4 at the beginning of the game and just have a minor overarching plot regarding the main villain, while having random cases. Or, you know, actually having a game about the mystery they established at the beginning. They tried both at the same time of sorts, and as such kinda failed at both. So in the end, this is just another case of "great girl trapped in bad game" game. Saya was really a great genre-savvy girl.
>>
>>17381782
This is exactly what I felt about the game. Everything became too dull very quickly and I stopped at chapter 4 three months ago. Wanting to know what happened to Sakura is really the only thing is stopping me from uninstalling this from my PC.
>>
So I heard Monobeno is close to 5Mb in script size. Is that actually all in the main plot, or is a good chunk of that available in an extra menu for H-scenes? If so how long is the main game actually?
I really want to play it but the length is terrifying...
>>
>>17382108

It may be an accident doubling of the scriptsize. The EGS average playtime and vndb length aren't really speaking for a close to 5mb game, but more to one with half that length.

How does posting the name warrant a spoiler?
It helps discussion.
If somebody came to this thread.
And saw these three posts and didn't look at the spoilers they'd assume something crazy with the game in the spoiler-ed pic, somebody asked the name and somebody answered.
Nothing worthy of spoilers like X was betrayed by Y or X married Z.
Furthermore if somebody came to this thread and knew about that game but hated spoilers, wouldn't think to open that pic to discuss it.

>>17382629
>How does posting the name warrant a spoiler?
Spoilers are made up of content and context. Let's take your example,
>X was betrayed by Y
and change it a bit to a generic "your friend betrays you". By itself it isn't a spoiler because there's no context as to what that content is pertaining to. But then say another post replied with a plain "oh that was crazy when it happened in XYZ", just posting the name itself constitutes a complete spoiler. It works both ways.
>>
>>17382668
The debonosu game's trial was cute and fun enough to waste time on, so I'll go with that.
>>
>>17382728

People would assume the cute thing warranted enough to cause him to express himself.
>Post a spoilered picture of nukige with the title name and say MUH DICK!!!

Do you feel h-scenes should be a staple for VNs with relationships?

I mean I've seen many VNs do it poorly and it just feels like sex after sex with little development in their relationship.

I think there should really just be the initial sex scene (the first one always does feel special, with both parties being nervous and the girl giving her up to the guy) and the rest should be in the omake or something like an after story.

I kinda liked how panical confusion handled it, with the initial sex being shown but for the other sex scenes you just saw the sprite moaning and finishing with sex, to show that they did do it but without padding out the game.

He IS a guy. He has hobbies that are relatively normal for guys and so on and so forth. In fact, he is considered somewhat boyish even (from characters thinking he is a girl). He makes a better "onee-sama" than an "imouto", if you know what I mean.
He ends up the girliest character simply because the other girls are just so weird. One girl somehow manages to make anyone puke from whatever she "cooks", let alone is not capable of having an even somewhat clean room, another pisses in a bottle and let's him take care of it (although that's in part her trying to seduce him... but using THAT method gives away what kind of girl she is..), and the last one has a serious case of chuuni. (and is still the best girl in the game, as that's still the most normal in a way..)

Part of the game's theme is kinda, that girls may not be what you think, and a nice girly girl is an illusion. Which is why I said, it's somewhat a meme, that he is voted for "best girl" so much. He isn't any more special than most of the other trap protagonists out there. They are mostly very similar anyway.

Why is this still a thing? In every instance of a popularity vote on heroines I can think of over the last several years the BLOOD RELATED imouto takes it.

>>
>>17385003
I can think of every clochette title not taking it, having to write around incest probable drama sucks.
>>

>>
>>17385003
What's worse is that they did have blood-related imouto in Loverable.
http://www.hook-net.jp/smee/makinglovers/ako.html
But looking through Ako's description it seems their parents will also be characters in the story rather than conveniently away like every eroge ever, and the presence of parents was the one thing I liked about Fureraba, so the lack of blood relation won't probably be a deal-breaker or anything.
>>
You guys should've learned by now that blood related or not has absolutely NOTHING to do with how the story will go. There are more than enough blood related sister heroines where everyone is fine with the romance, just like the are not blood related sister heroines where you have some sort of "incest drama" going on.

Yeah this. Blood relation is usually inconsequential to whether incest is actually treated as a major drama in-game or just played for the cute / fetish factor. I do wonder however what makes the devs decide which one to pick in the end. Is there actually a notable player base that likes imouto moe but simultaneously finds blood-related icky?
>>
>>17383956
There are VNs without ero.

For games that revolve around heroines and routes, however, it just doesn't make sense for two healthy teenagers/adults to have a sexless relationship. The all-ages cop-out replacements with "cuddling all night" or w/e are terrible. However, a "fade to black" will offend otaku who need to self-insert and will feel cucked by the MC if they don't get to watch (lul).

So we're stuck with H-scenes. I don't mind, there's a Ctrl key at hand.
>>
>>17385450
I think things could be drastically improved if only people stopped writing sex scenes with the intent to have them wanked to. I mean go ahead, show us the goods and the ghost dicks and the inevitable perspective failures, but leave out the play-by-play narration, the drastically out of character dirty talk, and trim down the length of the scene.

People who want to jerk off to it will find a way, people who want the emotional payoff will get it, and people who just want to get back to the rest of the vn won't be too put out.

>>17385390
Beats the fuck out of me. NBR imouto is no different from childhood friend most of the time. blood-related removes the "incest" appeal entirely, variety doesn't really come into it. Like if the desc of a heroine had "is actually a dude", straight people would be turned away just from that. Likewise, people into incest are turned away from NBR because it's just not what they're into. Variety isn't a factor here.

Not to mention, variety or no, NBR offers no advantages over BR in terms of interesting characterization.
>>
>>17386474
Yeah, I made that post half-jokingly. Like the other anon said NBR partly lessens the incest appeal of the whole imouto thing so those who have the fetish will be put off, but whether she'll be a fun character in general is obviously more important.

The general premise seems kind of neat and the common route probably branches very much in the beginning.

Luna haunts even till the h-scenes. What a girl.

I'm glad I'm finally playing the ohoho~ route in my "clean-up" attempt of on-hold VNs before the new stuff comes out this month. So far her route is fairly nice. Luna's route was just too fashion, long and the common route was obviously also there which had similar issues. Though in the end Luna's route was still pretty nice, back then I didn't feel like playing more. But this is nice. ユーシェ was always kinda the main source of the fun stuff, often in combination with Luna, and you get a lot more of it here. Although I do feel some of her sprites don't work too well, once you get a bit past her ohoho. But oh well.

Family isn't only by blood, imagine a VN where the guy adopts a girl and slowly she craves his dick and develops a deeply imbedded daddy fetish, sniffing his clothes, masturbating and rubbing against his bed, drinking his bath water.

Why do people like self insert so much?
I'm reading a love story involving two individuals, seeing sex like this feels like it's not love sex but shameless gap material.

Ohoho was best girl in this and no one can prove to me otherwise. The first and last time they nailed that archetype and didn't ruin it in her route once she falls in love. Plus some kinda genuinely nice non-porny sex scenes. But then he sticks it in her ass unprepared on a desk in school and all that goes out the window but hey you can't win'em all.

Don't forget the epilogue too, it's real fuckin' cavity-inducingly cute.

probably because most of the time it IS shameless fap material

Uninstall whatever garbage coded pack you installed with MPC-HC and install mpv instead. It's harder to install but you'll never have to worry about directshow codecs being replaced again.

I checked Erogamescape's top eroge ranking and was surprised to find White Album2 is still considered the best after all this time.

I'm slightly confused with Suisouginka

In Yura's route why does whoever loses gets shot?
I mean why does notbody call the police that a teeenage girl a has a gun or stop her or freak the fuck out
>>
>>17388002
I mean seriously what the fuck she pulls out a gun and shoots him and he does nothing but take it like a bitch.
Also how did she become stronger than the bad apple drug?
It's supposed to beat geniuses and she's no genius.
>>
>>17388013
