kuma because she's cute and has good stats. it's a little annoying since tsu will wipe your plane chevrons but it gets the job done. I only use it for final and then sometimes after that if I'm mad at 3-3 routing.

Seaplanes man. Seaplanes. Ideally you can even use stuff like pic related which focuses on maximizing chance of successfully passing through yasen node while maintaining strong day battle performance with two possible double attacks at start of the battle which help tremendously on first and boss node.
If you have Zara or Pola and struggle with LoS, use two bombers (Seiran are ideal but even most basic Zuiun has the exact same amount of LoS). If not, just use any random CA with two seaplanes. CA with two seaplanes should always be enough to meet LoS requirements.

DA CL is preferred over Abukuma in this quest. Preferably Ooyodo because she has fourth slot for radar/other seaplane but Kuma etc. should work well too.

Change your viewer to 33 formula. It's in settings in KCV and even easier to access in EO or KC3.

FuMO is better on Kasumi because it adds firepower and difference in accuracy isn't too big (10 vs 8 + 4). I already have enough LoS.

You're supposed to be telling him how to maximise his LoS for 2-5 such that he can still get a kill, not use LoS setups which are not only likely inaccessible to him, but are suboptimal for you LoS-wise. We don't even know if he has any upgraded radars or seaplanes, or for that matter, a Zara-class CA or Ooyodo. Those without the best equipment and ships often have to use one of the DDs as a radar mule.

That's precisely what I did. I told him everything he might possibly need. All the possible tips in multiple scenarios and where to check LoS himself. Anything more would be spoonfeeding.

I'll give that DD mule is a bad idea though. I forgot that CL mule is better. You have six ships, what are you doing that you have 14 radars? Given equal stated LoS values, seaplanes contribute far more to LoS than radars do since they have a greater LoS multiplier than radars.

As can be seen from the image in the source, even a T0 Obs confers more LoS than a 32K.

But we don't NEED to know if he has any upgraded radars or seaplanes to know that his setup was poor. If he has 14 radars as stated, at least 2 of them were on the CA or CL, swapping those out for a recon plane alone would give him quite a bit of breathing room.

I'd happily trade not running a radar on the CA in order to run a second plane that'll allow my DDs to run double attack setups.

If it really comes down to having to scrape every last bit of LoS and he doesn't have Ooyodo, then just grab Yuubari and throw two seaplanes on her. 0 slot seaplanes still contribute LoS for some reason.

Also, a Zara-class CA isn't really a great idea, while taking AS and all is nice, Zuiuns don't give as much LoS as pure observation planes do

As promised, here's a sample fleet at HQ 110 using basically a bunch of random DDs, the only two proper ships in that are Poi K2 and Yuubari.

The only real "luxuries" in the equipment are the presence of T33s and Observation planes, neither of which are really scarce.

If 33 LoS was achievable using a single radar for each DD on a random DDs and a random CA at HQ 110, to achieve 33 LoS with proper ships like Bucky, Lady, and Ooyodo is trivial.

Hell, my setup even lets me run Abukuma with dual guns and still keep her torp.

Jesus. You have absolutely no idea what are you talking about and zero, if not negative, ability to put yourself in others' shoes.
It doesn't matter if Yamato planes are expensive or not. They have low craft rates so you have to waste a lot of devmats to get them. On average you need 53 crafts and 23 devmats for a single Yamato plane. With bad luck the number can easily go above 50 devmats. New players are constantly low on devmats because they have much better stuff to craft and they are still stuck in LSC hell.

Likewise, it's irrelevant if it's easy to get fodder for upgrading yamato planes or not. What matters is that it's expensive in terms of screws and there's A LOT of other stuff which needs upgrades far more like DD, CA, BB guns, torps, fighters, tanks, ASW... Slapping a star or two on one plane might be excused but expecting new players to have TWO yamato planes at +5/+6? That's absolutely ridiculous. Do you even realize how many screws that is? 33. You tell people to waste 33 screws just so they can clear a quest granting two screws with your awful setup (by the way compositions I suggested don't require spending any screws). That's like doing 5-3 with heavy fleet for a transport daily.

Zara is a great idea assuming you can meet the LoS requirement. With artillery spotting you have much higher chance of eliminating gold enemies on first node and have a good shot at killing or at least disabling BBs at boss node.

Yup. That's why in my initial post I first showed the setup I use, then moved on to possible Zara with Zuiuns which has more LoS than Zara with fighter and if that was also not possible for the guy, suggested some random CA with two normal seaplanes.
Personally I switch between fighter + Yamato plane and the double Seiran setups every month depending on mood. Both are very effective. Double Seiran makes first node easier but has a small chance of flopping at boss.

The discussions were always Abukuma vs Jintsuu while Ooyodo was treated as eq mule but I'd say there's more to it. Ooyodo is the only CL who can use a radar to boost her artillery spotting rate, with that setup she works the same as CA but with less firepower. Vs cruiser-tier enemies her weaker but significantly more reliable DA than Jintsuu's might be considered superior.

I have yet to use Abukuma on Bm7 so I can't be 100% sure but I imagine this quest is one of rare occasions when Abukuma isn't the best possible option for the CL.

The easy way to consider ABKM against a DA CL is to imagine ABKM 111 as a CL who performs a pseudo-double attack of 111 (her torp) and 87 (her shelling) FP, Ooyodo performs a DA of 112 and 112, or a single hit of 94.

Consider it this way:

In Abukuma's favor, her "double attack" occurs with 100% consistency, can target multiple enemies and is thus less prone to overkill, and less importantly, her initial strike is unstoppable since she can't be crippled before she fires it off.

On the other hand, Ooyodo has overall more damage output *if* she procs, making her stronger against a single target, but is otherwise simply weaker otherwise; she does have a very nice radar accuracy boost though. It's really good, but I don't think it's enough to beat ABKM.

I'll have to consider how she performs against one of the t(or)Pedobear setups since those are specialized anti-armor.

It took me 1 day to complete only E-1 and E-2; 2 days for E-3 and 3 days for E-4. And it took a fucking 5 days of going home on every node with 50% chance, "second starting point" and "debuff, because i couldn't do shit to the boss final form", which left me with a total of 2 days to even pretend i had the morale to farm after that shit mess of a last map.
