This thread is for the discussion of untranslated Japanese visual novels.

What are you playing? What are you looking forward to? What have you finished? You know the drill.

They're putting more and more porn in eroge. Anyone else getting bored with it? .... yay, I get to fuck this girl for the 11th time this game, yay
>>
>>16368850
>What are you playing? What are you looking forward to? What have you finished?
I never paid attention to this but why is the order so off? Shouldn't it "finished" first, "playing" second and "looking forward" to 3rd? Why is looking forward to sandwiched between two current things.
>>16368886
Don't blame the industry, blame the otaku. They boycott stuff if they don't get to fuck the girls often enough or they even reject you.

仄暗き時の果てより

Some interesting lovecraftian stuff, but the individual routes feel very samey unfortunately
>>
>>16368916

Hope you like the last part. As disappointed as I was at first, what was instead done was perhaps even more fun. Although I really wouldn't mind a sequel now.
>>
>>16368916
I feel Lovecraft is an overplay theme nowadays.

Maybe not in recent eroge, but overall if some piece of entertainment media turns out to be Lovecraftian, it's hardly surprising or interesting to me.
>>
>>16368886
Go for all ages stuff then.
>>
>>16368987
I'm not >>16368886, but I dont think thats what he meant. Or at least I'm not bothered with the ero's existence in the games at all and actually like to have them, but having 10-12 h-scenes per a heroine in a game other than nukige just makes it really really boring, I'd like to have more contents than endless h-scenes.
>>
>>16368886
you mean less. 18+ is coming to an end unfortunately
>>
>>16369066
That would be the best thing to ever happen to visual novels but I don't think it will occur. What do you base this on? I hope not console games because they're an entirely different market.
>>
>>16369066
Nope, just look at the AXL's lastest game. Until now they made 3-4 h-scenes per a heroine in almost all of their games, now suddenly it became 7-8.
>>
>>16369091

How are the scenes? It's not just about a random "number", but also about how long, how many unique CG and such. CG are actually (usually) the most important factor here. So a game with 8 ero-scenes can very well be the same as one with 4. Or even with just one. It's a bit of an extreme example, but Sakura's plot h-scene in Fortissimo is insanely long and has like 8 unique CG or something. That's pretty much like 3-8 scenes in other games. But it's only one scene. (Although in the extra menu you can choose to start at certain keypoints if you want to)
>>
>>16369247
>but Sakura's plot h-scene in Fortissimo is insanely long and has like 8 unique CG or something

>>
>>16369254

It's just.. long. They simply do all kinds of shit. Normal, in the bath, her on top.. hell I don't know. All kinds of shit.
Momiji has also one like that as a bonus you unlock. That uses pretty much all her h-cg she had before with maybe slight variations (i.e. background because of a setting-change or whatever) and adds a few new ones.

I'm not sure why these exist like that, but well, they do.

All I remember was :

Nexton backpedalling with Sengoku Koihime Musou because it didn't sell well and release a version with ero, but they actually add more contents beside it too, and keeps making even lewder Koihime Musou fan disks.

After Supipara crashed and burned Minori keeps making lewd eroge with overboard enormous oppai.

Purple software making Chrono Clock with separate ero content, probably for easy all ages conversion, but ended up selling so shit that they need to suck gaijin dicks for it to make profit and ended up making a game with ero 5 mins in after that.

Sprite released koichoco fandisk as all ages title, but it sells so fucking shit despite the original got an anime adaptation before it gets released, they went back to make eroge, and even make shitty erowebgame out of it.

Frontwing was planned to make hatsumira an all ages with downloadable ero content, but ended up making it fully ero, though it still doesn't sell because it's fucking shit, but they actually making an all ages this year, lets see what will happen to it.

Key, TM, and Leaf have went all ages for years now, but they're like the most popular brand ever, so yeah, developers can go all ages safely after they reach those three's level.

It's really good, more people should read it. Makes for a good primer to Mareni's stuff.

Finished Kanade's route in Amenity's Life. Had a lot of fun with this game, felt similar to Fureraba which I liked a lot. Amenity had one of the writers from Fureraba and the art kind of looks like Kanojo Step, so it's almost a SMEE game. The characters and their interactions were a lot of fun, the start felt like the usual stupid, goofy humor that I love, even though the humor kind of falls off once it gets later into the common route.

My favorite part had to be Kanade though, seeing how her character changed and interacted with other characters and even how the setting affected her made her feel like a person instead of just a typical aloof, hard-to-approach girl who turns in a cute blob during her route. Having the actual setting and reasoning for her personality and seeing it change over time was well done.

The game dragged a bit during the selection part leading up to the heroine route, where it felt like a lot of the humor was missing and it became somewhat dry, though it recovers during the heroine routes. The only other issue I can think of is the protagonist; it's not really that he's bad, just a little bit dull compared to the rest of the cast, whom are all pretty fun. I guess you need the tsukkomi role somewhere.

While it's not some groundbreaking work of literature, it's still a solid, enjoyable moege to read. All the parts work well together and create a nice atmosphere for the story that isn't weighed down by stupid drama or just devolve into nonstop sex scenes. Also there better be a fucking fandisc with a Honami route.

I'm in mood for some samurais, what should I read first, Chusingura or Last Cavalier?
>>
>>16371871

This is just a guess, but maybe you unlock stuff after completely finishing the game. Some games do that. This also has a clear final route, supporting that idea I suppose.
No skip may be because it's not necessary. I only looked at the walkthrough, but it seems to only have one choice and if it branches directly afterwards, which I'd assume, you just put a save there anyway. Still weird I guess, but it should have ctrl skip right? Or really nothing?

>>
>>16372014
Last Cavalier is vastly "better" but depending on what you're looking for the amount of infodumping might put you off. It's pretty much a history textbook, not a light read by any means. Chusingura, by contrast, is closer to a Hollywood action flick, where you're expected to turn your brain off, ignore the shitty writing and plot holes, and just enjoy the ride.

I thought this vn will be full-blown nukige, they actually have some drama and some interesting info dumping, not bad. I think it's better than "aneyome" but not as good as "nee, chanto shiyo". I will give this vn score 7 and extra 0.5 since I really like 年上女性.
>>
>>16372014
Chusingara is better as a game overall. LC is niche as heck and probably not what you want if you're looking for "fights and plot".
>>
>>16372014
Cavalier can drag too long in some routes. But I really like the characters and the unique alternative history plot with a lot of politickings interested me so I really like it overall. .
>>
>>16372014
I can't recall any decent fight in Chusingura since the fights are very very bland and repetitive because there's a real lack of prose to back it up and instead it's replaced and depicted with simple special effects. So almost all the fights you see will basically be just be character sprites prancing around the screen letting out a 掛け声 every time they swing their sword. The writer put a little bit more effort into at least depicting the fights through writing in the FD but it still falls short and I'm especially bitter about the anticlimactic final showdown with the 新撰組 where the 赤穂浪士 win by literally going through vigorous training for a year.
Last Cavalier didn't have any of these problems and I found myself satisfied with the fight scenes when they did happen. Also I would like to put it out that these are two very different games. Chusingura is more of a romance oriented VN while Last Cavalier is not, I actually struggle trying to remember the brief instances of it happening if at all for some of the routes. Another thing that really sets the two apart is the tone. Last Cavalier has a mostly serious tone throughout but Chusingura is much more casual, reaching love comedy levels at times.
I personally enjoyed Last Cavalier much more, it had great characters, dialogues, music, writing, atmosphere, and Chusingura doesn't even compare to it for me, they feel like two completely different genres. Also after reading the 幕末 part of the Chusingura FD I've only grown to like and appreciate Last Cavalier even more. I'll still be looking forward to Miburo though.

>>
>>16372751
About 2/3 into the game he calls Reika, the girl who looks like his daughter that he's been fucking for weeks and her phone goes off in his daughter's room. Reika IS his daughter Yuriko. She invented the whole Incest Dating Club to get him to fuck her while wearing a disguise and acting completely different.

What's great is there's an ending prior to that where HE MARRIES REIKA.

His daughter almost goes yandere when he discovers what she's done and blackmails him to keep going till she's pregnant.

The Kakyuusei games have generally more events per heroine and are slightly less dated than the Doukyuusei games, but Doukyuusei 2 is still pretty wonderful. The Doukyuusei games felt slightly more complex and involved in how event flags and everything was set up though.
Kakyuusei had a cast I generally liked better than Kakyuusei 2, but 2 has Nanase who is probably my favorite heroine between both games.

I'd probably go with Doukyuusei 2 or Kakyuusei if I was trying to pick one that was best overall though.
>>
>>16372972

Gameplay wise, definitely Kakyuusei 2. Both Doukyuusei games is basically go to one place and pray that the RNG doesn't screw you up with the event trigger, some girls are even near impossible to get without a walkthrough to tell you where to go, and good luck finding the in-game helper whose supposed to give you hint. Kakyuusei is better that there is actual dating mechanic, gifts, etc, while Kakyuusei 2 improved the outdated UI like the game reminds when you have multiple dates on the same day at certain hour, so you can manage multiple dates easier, among other stuff.

>>
>>16369949
While I agree with all of them, You are kinda wrong about the Nexton - Baseson one. The story of the sengoku koihime was written as an 18+ game with ero scenes, you can see that at the all ages version of the game, but they wanted to get more money from it so they have gone with "hey if we make an all ages first and an extended version with ero scenes later we could sell it twice!" idea, and it worked. Not touching Aoi or Sunpu Yakata problems even though they were clearly one of the biggest shits in the game was also for the uncoming extended game.
Well gotta mention that it worked only because there were many new events and the game was already longer than most of eroges anyway so people thought its worth of buying twice (extended version is 60-70 hours length at least) The all ages version's sales wasn't bad btw, it sold pretty much same amount as the 18+ extended version.

You said "eroge" but then said Chuusotsu, which has no sexual content, so I guess you just mean VNs? If so, Kurai Heya and Rakuen no Shugosha are both titles I finished in a day and liked. Horobi is one of those doujinge and is really good, its composed of 8 short-ish stories (with each one only taking a day or so to read and stand largely alone).

it's a hit and miss sorta mess with half the routes being ass and half being decent to great. blondie and darkie are pretty good but Kaguya-sama is best girl of the year all years.

it's got a nice end of the world feeling and the soundtrack hits that melancholy note real nice. plot's a mess though.

The first, though Maro certainly has its parts where it shines (better characters). They're quite different games.

In Shinsou Noise ch. 2, I can't get off to Ootori's sex scene because it feels nonconsensual. Obviously it's not "rape", and it's not the protagonist's fault, but I am having a hard time getting aroused by the situation because the only reason she's doing it is an aphrodisiac.

(Actual Amatsutsumi spoilers) The Hotaru stuff where that joke might apply doesn't come until way the fuck later and her first time and only times having sex in all of her forms are still with Makoto. so I don't know what joke he could possibly be trying to make based on that screenshot so I'm led to believe it's the former of my assumptions.

Calling her the best is kinda funny. She got Luna-ed. I feel her being a good character also comes from that. If she'd actually BE a normal "ohoho desu" ojou-sama, she'd probably not be anywhere near as good, as that type just doesn't work in serious moments.
Ursule is really a good character and a pretty great "person" inside the story, when you get to some serious parts and get to know her a bit at points where she isn't doing her "facade". I mean she was Luna-ed that way precisely because the whole "type" is just a joke in many ways anyway. Although to be honest, some of her serious moments and heavy insight kinda clashes with her never actually realizing how MUCH Luna messes with her.. but oh well. I should read her route. Maybe I'm even writing BS here, but at least this is how she's portrait if you do the main-route. (as in Luna)

And done with Meguru Sekai de Towanaru Chikai o!. Which means almost done with what I definitely wanted to try from this months release-flood.

This title is a strange one. How can something start so promising but turn into such crap? To an extend it's normal in VN. Rpgs? Even more so, as the mainstories tend to suck. But this is on a whole different level.

At first you have nice comedy, good characters that are well used. You have common choices to say which girl you want to "know more about" and if you stick to your favorite one, it feels like she is the main-heroine. (like it should be)
Then they randomly start to put in a few scenes about girls you didn't choose for whatever reason. That's unnecessary but still.. kinda.. okay. But then the spam of random short-stories about random people with random problems you only see this once in said short-story begin. Around the same time you are also looked in your route, which, funny enough, means way less focus on your chosen girl. Heck even when protag gets together with her it's just the typical "let's just continue like we always did~" in the plot, so they don't have to actually adapt the future mini-plots and whatever and it's enough to insert a shitty minor scene every couple of dungeons. (tip: It's not enough) What is focused a bit more is then mostly only plot as well, which is shit as expected. (not like I cared at that point, as I was disappointed already)

Gameplay is similar. Fun at first but then you realize nothing matters. Equip, which monster.. whatever. Elements matter, but that's the same from beginning to end. Every battle works the exact same as well. Izumo4 was WAY better in that regard. (just started way too slow)

Yeah, dunno. Disappointing. Pic related sums up how the game later on feels. Shows a date with the heroine. "Ahn~" scene. Nobody ever thought this picture is a liiittle weird?
Oh well. Maybe one author wrote the first ~2 chapters and another the other ones. At least the gameplay later on was "difficult" enough to make me not fall asleep and have some kind of fun, even though it was really repetitive.
>>
>>16377906
Funny how your "criticism" only makes the game look better. It's nice to see games deviate from the generic "pick heroine -> game only focuses on her and abandons the initial scenario" style. Maybe the plot/gameplay was still bad in the end, I don't know, but that is one positive if anything.
>>
Are the chapters in Eustia all about the same length? Or are some particularly longer/shorter?
>>
Are there any VNs you read through and enjoyed even after spoiling yourself by looking at/fapping to the ripped CGs?
>>
>>16378051

>>16378063
Well I loved CrossChannel even after spoiling myself with the English version.
>>
>>16378063
Kangoku Senkan 2/3
>>
>>16377937

There is not much of an initial scenario. And later on there's not much there either.

Maybe I wrote this a bit badly, but think of it like this. At first the story feels like it's a "consistent" building story where your chosen girl is the main-heroine, as in the most important character. Just like many VN have main-heroines.
At some point this pretty much stops and gets mostly replaced with random side-stories about random characters you only see in said side-story. One per dungeon. What little main-story is still there stays as it was before, as in your chosen girl is the most important one. The plot unfortunately sucks, which doesn't help.

I hope that makes it a bit more clear. It's the random crap you get which has zero relevance to anything that gets MAJORLY in the way of everything. You even get random scenes that are "common scene material", stuff like onsen + peeping, which feels heavily out of place when one of the girls is the future wife and you've seen her naked already anyway.. in bed.

got Luna-ed? i'm not sure i understand.
i guess she is placed in an awkward position of straddling the line between joke archetype but given depth of character, but it worked quite well in her route, I found.

Luna is a lovely girl and probably a better character but she ain't what comes to mind when you think ojou-sama, which is why I suggested yuushuuruu furuuuru jean-maruuuuuure instead.

her route is pretty great, almost as good as Luna's and definitely head and shoulders above the other two sameface nobodies who are eclipsed by their own maids. her maid (male) is a bro.

So guys, can anyone recommend me some games where a side character dies in a heroic way in the middle of the game, with a touching scene? Like holding back the enemies or something. After reading Sengoku Koihime I'd like to try more of those, that Touko scene was too good.

By that I mean all the "traits" that make this typical archtype are just something she uses because Luna said that's how rich girls behave or something along those lines. Same like how Luna messed with her with naming her pets silly things.

In other words, she is no "ohoho desu" ojou-sama. It's a facade. Something she uses because she thinks it's the right thing to do, because of Luna. A running gag similar to her wrong Japanese.
It's actually similar to a certain "ohoho desu" ojou-sama from Akatsuki no Goei. It's a similarly great girl, but again precisely because of the same reasons. She.. fakes, kinda. Unfortunately she has no real route. Once you get to know her and realize "damn, she isn't actually a bad character", it's over. With one of the most weird endings I've ever seen.

So yeah. I'm kinda wondering if there's an actual girl that really IS that archtype and doesn't act it for whatever reason, and is a great character. I have the feeling that's pretty damn hard-mode. (Again, Luna tells her all that stuff for a reason)
>>
>>16378602
時計仕掛けのレイライン series, the second game to be exact.
>>
>>16378617
ah, right.
maybe it's what you have to do in order to play the ohoho archetype straight but also have a character with more self-awareness than a paper bag? the ohoho stuff is just so unabashedly ~anime~ they need to come up with reasons why the character doesn't notice how flatly ridiculous they are in a more serious setting. having your cake and eating it too, essentially.

i'm of the opinion that if you wear a mask long enough it becomes your 'real' face but that's more of a philosophical argument than i think i'm prepared to do on a thread for tibetan sexualized shadow puppetry.

but yeah, it's incredibly hard to find good proper haughty ojou-sama characters. probably hamstrung by the nature of the archetype itself, probably also due to it being the total polar opposite of the whole yamato nadeshiko shtick that goes over well with the target audience.

even the mediocre to bad examples i'm thinking of always have some sort of bullshit twist where 'oh she's just misunderstood' or 'she's really a quiet, gentle girl inside'.

god dammit. i just want a story where i get to prove myself to a cocky rich bitch and she stays that way.

its true that kawarazaki-ke 2 has a completely new cast, but it ably plays with the expectations of the vets of the first game on how the plot will fold out at a certain point. you should definitely give it a try, one run through the game doesnt take very long either. and its quite obvious both titles were written by the same man. as for the art, yokota mamoru isn't bad (though the colourisation of the remake does him no favours), but rin-shin is one of the greats, so no complaints there.

Akikuru is really an odd game. The SOL elements are sometimes pretty silly but I like the characters more than in any other kuru game. I also like the quantum mechanic info dumps since Watanabe goes pretty deep into the rabbit hole this time.

It's all around pretty good but also feel the formula of the older games where every puzzle bit fell into its place once shit hit the fan was better. It's a bit more unbalanced and I still can't see the direction.

>>16382750
i'm only one route finished so take this with the requisite grain of salt, but what i'm finding is the weak point of akikuru is its sheer size and scope of the topics. you start off with a lot of wildly different plot threads which take longer to coalesce into something more than isolated weird infodumps. but when they do it's just as good as ever.

i think the thing that's really missing from his first two games is that they started off rather unassuming, with bizarre events slowly trickling in one by one at a rate that could be dismissed as delusions or swept under the rug with more SoL dick jokes. then when shit hits the fan and the genre shift kicks in it really does pull the rug out from under you, but in a way that makes sense thanks to the foreshadowing.

akikuru plunks you right down into an already bizarre world and setting. i guess the problem is it's TOO weird at the start and thus any subsequent weirdness doesn't get the benefit of that juxtaposition.

that said i'm enjoying it tremendously and like you said, the characters are much more likeable and three dimensional this time. just wanted to try and articulate what's been bugging me about it.
>>
>>16382750
>>16382821
The problem is you're viewing this in the same way as the previous Kurus. Akikuru is not like that. It is, unironically, a love comedy from start to finish. Expecting some huge twist to turn it all around is gonna leave you disappointed.
>>
>>16382821
>akikuru plunks you right down into an already bizarre world and setting

Exactly. But then again I don't think Watanabe could pull off another genre shift which would have the same impact as in the first two games. Everyone would expect it. Still, a slower start and more foreshadowing would be great.
>>
>>16382842
having finished yuzuki's route first i now understand this, i'm not upset or even remotely disappointed. like i said, i was just trying to put into words why i wasn't quite feeling it in some parts of the common route. i think the only thing i really want to complain about is Mihaya's "route" being what it was, after them playing up their relationship for the entire common route.

though to be fair it seems rational to expect roughly the same thing from another story in the same series, no?

>>16382852
yeah, genre shift loses a lot when you know there's gonna be one. which sucks when you really like them but can't exactly ask people to recommend you stuff with genre shifts.
>>
>>16382852

This only happened to me once. WAY back with the first Higurashi anime, where I only knew its episode count. It was.. an experience.
But I don't think it's too bad in a kuru. I feel part of the fun is also knowing something will come and trying to guess what it'll be. Chances are you'll still be caught off guard.
I didn't actually know Harukuru is full sci-fi or there's something like another "Fuyu" girl and whatnot. I only knew it's not what it seems to be at first. That may help. But well.. regardless of that, I feel it's probably still fun regardless. Tokihate of this month also had that feeling, figuring out how it "ends". You'll probably be wrong, and will still be left with enough to guess about, but I like that stuff.

Maybe I should read every seemingly moe VN on the off-chance it's another Harukuru.

yeah, that's the shitty part isn't it. you can't actively go looking for this sort of thing, you have to either hope you stumble across it accidentally or else are given a rec by someone skilled enough at making it sound interesting without giving away what actually does make it interesting.

Opinions on Nanairo Reincarnation? Route order?
>>
>>16383385
The game is about Kotori and her route is the only flashed out one really. I recommend only going through hers (or if you want to see porn of the other characters, do them after Kotori).
>>
>>16383412
So, other routes are similar to Eustia's side routes?
>>
>>16383425
Not quite, Nanairo's actually go on for a bit, and spoil a main twist such that they actually weaken the actual core story. Otherwise, yeah, they are like Eustia's side routes in that they're only really worthwhile for porn.
>>
>>16383431
Fumu, thanks, anon.
>>
>>16383119

It's a bit hard to write much else about it without simply spoiling stuff.

It's basically a story with some foreshadowing, twists and so on. Basically the protag comes back to his home-island with his boss (one of the heroines), as they got work in regards to finding a missing person. (Boss runs a detective bureau of sorts, protag is a hired helping hand) As they get to the island you get details, but also weird things. Like rumors about a monster. And then you get even more info about the monster. And you just start thinking as several things feels... suspicious.
That said even just saying what the premise is ultimately about kinda spoils how the prologue ends, so I'm reluctant to do so and say more. But it's pretty much just your typical "get more hints and ideas" and such. You'll probably get mislead a few times, but for the most part, it does make sense. Writing about some of the main-themes is a bit hard though, as again, those are pretty much all heavy spoiler territory. But.. it gets pretty psychologically at times. Interesting concepts.

There are weaknesses though, as you can criticize things like the absolute "uselessness" of the police. There are also a few things written a bit badly, as in reasons or explanations he gives aren't the best, though for the most part it still makes sense. It does feel generally like a work were he wanted the reader to think though, so there's that at least. The first two routes are also literally the same aside of a few moe-scenes and the sex which clashes with the overall story anyway. Oh and swapped girl during the story parts of course. Both are enforced. For whatever reason. Third route shares a good amount as well, but is generally different enough. Still, I'm saying this because I feel some could quit before this route and I felt the final part of it is something you should see if you've finished one route already anyway. I at least had my fun.

>goes pretty deep into the rabbit hole

The setting is established early on but he doesn't explore anything he presents deeply at all. If anything by the time to game ended I felt like he didn't do anywhere near enough with any of the things I actually found interesting about it. Do you think talking about the double slit experiment no short of 10 times counts as "going deep into the rabbit hole"?

He tried to go in a different direction with Akikuru (read: wrote a 3mb romcom) instead of focusing on the SF aspects and it didn't work all that well for me, unfortunately. Girls were cute though.

What is the best way to enjoy Amagami? Should I just play normally without a guide and immerse myself into the school life? Should I not focus on a single girl and accept that I will have to reread some scenes if I want to get all the ends but get a more balanced view of the school life? Should I focus on only a single girl to finish her route asap?

Last time I played it I finished Tsukasa's route without ever activating any of the events for the other girls and the story felt very barren even as I fell in love with her. Some days there were literally no events for Tsukasa and it left a bad feeling just skipping days do get tot he next event.

Has anyone read this? Did you enjoy it?
>>
>>16386950
i enjoyed it a lot, but it suffers the same problems that akatsuki no goei did. common route is very solid, but it falls apart during routes.

charming point of both akagoei and reminiscence is very good heroines, enjoyable character interactions along with interesting setting. like i said though, don't expect story to go places. in main game imouto's route is the most (and probably only) satisfying conclusion if you'd call it.

also i recommend playing akatsuki no goei beforehand despite remi being standalone for most part. there are recurring characters and some stuff in it will have more meaning if you played akagoei and i think if you enjoy one you'll like the other, they're pretty similar.
>>

I might give it a pass. I don't mind if the common route is somewhat dry, for me it's the individual routes that should pull through and leave a lasting impression.
>>
>>16387167
i thought both games are worth commitment in the end thanks to how much i enjoyed overall game, but if that bothers you it probably won't end up well. like, even after playing all 3 akagoei games i was shocked by sudden credits roll in some of the routes in remi. >>
>>16387805
>>16387800
>>16387739
>So they will be very hard to pirate.
Nope, they are just making the "rent" system with playDRM, but there is no way it can suppress the second hand sales and they'll continue to release their games as always as well. Most of people buy eroge just for the tokuten anyway, without it I doubt there'll be any sales unless its really cheap as fuck, which will make all of this meaningless.
>>
>>16387704
First of all the rent system seems really bad, or more like not-a-profitable thing I mean, will they release their full-priced games for 500-1000 yen or something? Because if its not that level cheap no one will bother with renting a digital eroge for a week without any tokuten. And if they make it that cheap, it will literally make them go negative since some of the full priced costumers will take this instead of buying an eroge for 10.000 yen if they are not very interested in the title. Also I'm pretty sure that they will have to give some of the profit to the DLsite as well. I guess this is the reason why none of the big companies joined this shit.

Secondly, its not really that hard to crack at all. At worst they'll learn how to encrypt their shit so someone like anime-sharing's admin will have to buy and give the code to arrogant chinese cracker, at best they'll continue to use it like now and they'll get cracked at the first day.
>>
>>16387704

Finished Furuiro Meikyuu Rondo. Seems my save got corrupted, but luckily only after I got the main ending.

After Saki's initial introduction about paying attention to minute details, the tea making tutorial and initially complex looking flowchart I was expecting the game's routes work like one big tangled spider web where you're constantly seeking new keywords from alternate branches, stumbling into dead ends in order to unlock new ones, but it ended up being really linear and easy. There's only like one notable point at the beginning where you need a keyword from one branch in order to advance in another branch (and it's stupid flimsy shit; the game doesn't allow you to advance if you don't have the proper keyword for waking up a character that is already about to wake up on their own and it's just a normal SoL scene rather than high stakes situation requiring quick action, there's no associated bad end or anything, the lines simply stop there and the game tells you to go to another branch), but after getting that done the game is practically one straight road with side bad ends. The stupidly convoluted looking flowchart is just for the looks.

I didn't really like the fate point system either, as getting a character's points low through arbitrary word choices (even getting words right causes fate point loss in some cases without any reason) would just instantly throw you a generic instant game over (rather than an actual bad end) and revert you to a checkpoint with the character's fate points restored higher then they were before, meaning you can just brute force through everything and the fate point system ends up being a nuisance more than anything.

I took tons of screenshots and made note of probable branches, but they ended up being pretty useless as the keywords are usually just the game asking if you're paying attention to the main plot (very often the same needed keyword is introduced just few scenes or even lines before the prompt) more than anything else. Most of the keywords never get used either, and there's some cases the writer didn't really think things through on how many keywords could apply in some situation; f.ex. at the beginning you get word 行く and it's used once to participate in an event, but in all such later, similar cases you just usually repeat another recently introduced word instead and word 行く just results in the game penalizing you. In the last parts you have to remind characters about the clock memo, but the game only accepts word 懐中時計 and not メモ, despite the latter being the main issue at hand.

Actual story wise the game felt pretty lackluster at first, though it instantly went from meh to enjoyable tier with protagonist turning into a ruthless bastard in his look for Saki, and I kind of wish the game would've stayed more fucked up in that way and explored his change better. I was grinning like a retard during those parts. As for the main twists, I think there's other games that have done player as story element meta stuff much better and I kind of wanted more than really conveniently working magic explanation out of the actual time travel elements.

Music was pretty damn forgettable and the game could've used more tracks in general. Few particular CGs looked like shit. Another thing that felt cheap was the protagonist using same VA as the fag loving joke side character, probably because of budget reasons or something. H-scenes for side heroines felt completely unnecessary as well. Overall a really faulty ride with some high points that made it pretty enjoyable at times. Saki was a relatively cute 毒舌 heroine at least.

I can get into some chuuni as long as it's done well. I didn't get super far into Senshinkan but the early game plot twists and fights were pretty obvious and I ended up getting bored. There were some generic harem-shit aspects too that I found annoying too. On the other hand, I was pretty fond of the protagonist's character, thought it was pretty unique for the setting.
>>
>>16398031
Dies irae is way better but Senshinkan is also pretty amazing. You might just be a moebuta, have you tried curing that first?

>but the early game plot twists and fights were pretty obvious
Masada's writing is always like that. It's not the twists and fights themselves that matter so much as the characters experiencing them, particularly the dialogue. With Masada, it's always the characters that are truly excellent. If you go in with the mindset "i want engaging combat" or "i want an amazing plot" you'll be disappointed. It's the characters that make the games worthwhile. I mean Mercurius himself says...
では一つ、皆様私の歌劇を御観覧あれ。
その筋書きは、ありきたりだが。
役者が良い。至高と信ずる。
ゆえに面白くなると思うよ。
>>
>>16398056
I knew that people were pretty fond of Senshinkan, but I'll try Dies irae if it's agreed to be better. I like plot moe I guess, to be honest I probably hate just straight harem-shit more than anything.

>>16398078
That's some pretty interesting insight, thanks. I did find the battles themselves pretty dragged out in some aspects, but when it switched to internal dialogues about hope and strength and whatnot, I found it rather engaging. That's a good viewpoint.
>>
>>16398094
You should play Paradise Lost. It's a lot shorter than Dies, so not as big of a commitment, and will give you an idea whether Masada is for you or not before you dig into the 50+ hour beast. It's also a pretty good game if you can overlook the visuals.
>>
>>16398108
I'll check it out, thanks.

I found Dies Irae much better, though the first route is kind of slow compared to the rest so it's good to keep that in mind. As far as I remember it definitely had less harem stuff compared to Senshinkan and its sequel however, plus I also liked DI's characters in general more. The villains in particular felt more fleshed out and main antagonists received proper screen time that was bit of an issue in Senshinkan.

>>16398108
Haven't played Paradise Lost myself, but I remember asking about it ITT long ago and hearing people saying it's supposedly very lackluster compared to Masada's other games. Seemingly no voiced protagonist either which to me is kind of a big deal if we're talking about chuuni.
>>
>>16398144
>other games
I'd make that singular, game. But everything pales in comparison to Dies. PL is superior Senshinkan. Definitely worth a play if you care about Masada as an author.

It's one of the 10 screenshots on the Oretsuba VNDB page. In other words, for westerners (mainly EOPs) who haven't read the game, their only source of the game's content are the screenshots on that VNDB page. So they get reposted a lot.

Anon, don't let your guard down. They want you to believe it exists. But should you really play right into their hands, believing possible falsehood? Resist. Struggle. Do not yield. Then you may find the truth out there. Somewhere, hidden in the mud and dirt so none may find it.

Just as expected, its quite short, finished teacher route around 2-3 hours, and I'm not reading that fast. Overall the teacher route its not so bad, and I think their story about "love between student and teacher" is bit more realistic compare to other VN. There's quite amount of humour, some of them actually funny or enough to make you smile. If you really like amagami, I think this fd is not really bad, since you can see hibiki and teacher router or see more story of your favorite girl.

I'm not really interested with amagami gs, read some review of it, I think if you like typical amagami gag, you will enjoy this vn. I heard it have length around 8 hours

Was it Baldr Sky's influence?

More likely it was the (massive) success of Muv-Luv that spurred it, or Grisaia, or some other one that happened without me knowing probably.

I had similar issues with Senshinkan, it's got some problems that Dies doesn't have since he was trying out some different approaches with Senshinkan. I would honestly prefer if Masada just stayed as far away from regular eroge formula as possible, but I guess you can't ask for too much. Senshinkan does have some major twists later on and your theories or guesses of what the plot twists are are probably completely wrong, fwiw.

Dies Irae is a lot better than Senshinkan in almost every conceivable way so, but I don't think Masada's work is for everybody. Worth giving it a shot but if you can't take it seriously then I wouldn't hold it against you.

>>16398056

I'm a Masada fanboy and I think the complaints he listed are honestly pretty valid, Senshinkan is a cool game but it has a dickload of issues that people seem to just glaze over.
