I have really sweaty hands and I don't actually have an issue with it. It doesn't take a lot of effort to activate, but it also doesn't spin freely. I honestly prefer it to every AC cab I've ever played on, but that might just speak to R1 maintenance.

Hey you non-eufags blessed with bemani cabinets, at what height is the sound voltex controller in the cabinet? I really want to switch from playing sitting with the controller on my lap to playing standing with the controller on some sort of pedestal, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the correct height.
Pic related, it has some measurements, but they don't have the controller height in them. I'd guess from that that that the controller is in between 90 cm and 105 cm (or 3' to 3'5"), can anyone confirm?

Dumb question from a lr2/iidx nub;

Just noticed I had forgotten to set my fix max bpm, to 300, and adjust my min and margin to 300 as well (as it suggests in the one lr2 guide). Should I set it to 300, am I hurting myself leaving it on default fix 100, min 10 margin 10?

sorry to add to the general complaining about sows in this thread but I really wish the seeder/leecher numbers would fucking update faster than once every half an hour

I tried to download a pretty big file recently because it said there were still 9 leechers and 1 seeder, and I just wanted to get ratio on it. Turns out those numbers were wrong, thing downloaded too quickly for me to cancel it, and my ratio literally plummeted from 4.19 to 2.91, where it is right now. I got zero upload on that. Then it was deleted so I can't even keep seeding it for dellar. I'm still mad.

What difficulty are you on?
You can generally figure out why you can't pass a song, it's usually either:
Density (too many notes, you can't read or react fast enough).
Stamina (mostly for timing if the difficult part lasts too long)
Patterns (You find the patterns are too difficulty to hit, usually in the speed they want you to hit)
Gimmicks (Bullshit speed ups/downs)

For density and stamina there is no real answer but to just keep playing. Play a mix of whatever the hardest difficulty you can handle (or almost handle) and playing difficulties of a lower level. Random helps too because maybe you can't read it because it's fast and mixed with notes you're not used to hitting.

For patterns it is a matter of playing easier songs that have those patterns. Like if you have problems with rolls, play almost exclusively songs that features rolls. Same with denims, scratching, pills, etc..

Sometimes the problems are doing certain patterns with specific hands like if you're struggling hitting streams of 5,6,7s. you're very likely to find a song that has those same streams on 1,2,3 and play it on mirror so you can put the hard shit on the hand you're struggling with.

Also the most important part about improving. If you're getting stressed from a wall, lower the difficulty and just play for fun. Try to get some full combos, try to improve your timing on some easier songs, go hard clear some folders. You're just gonna be on tilt if you keep failing the hardest song.

For example I kept reaching the ending of 蛇神 SPA with 100% then I always failed with like 60-70% after the chord spam. I got so frustrated and spammed the song literally 24 times. Every other try I would score even worse and get more frustrated.

The end of my session was me just failing out cause I kept hitting the end with 0-20%. Don't let yourself get tilted. Maybe treat each song like chess where you should (almost) never move the same piece twice. Avoid playing the same song over and over, if you almost pass play it a few times but move on regardless of how close you get. Cause honestly you'll probably never get it once you get in that mindset.

Well, I swapped my FP7 around for shits and giggles and I figured out how much skill carried over when you switch from 1P to 2P or vice versa.

Almost none. Going from clearing 11s to struggling on 3s. Fucking nightmarish. I was able to get to 6s and clear a 7 in a few hours though. Still frustrating.

One thing I found interesting was playing 1P I use my ring on 7 and can't imagine ever using my pinky, but the second I switched to 2P my pinky was hitting 1 instinctively.

This whole thing has made me concerned about playing doubles though. I want to get into it eventually but am now realizing that you probably can't play doubles effectively without being proficient at both sides Yeah, I know this seems like common sense, but it's not. Shut up. The logic is different.. Although since you're one handing each side anyway it might just be an entirely different beast altogether.

Daos also allow to a triple click to translate to hitting both buttons at the same time.

I can sightread about 30% of them, can clear an additional 30% with a bit of practice, but then the rest of them just seem completely incomprehensible to me and I still can't figure out why. What you're saying about figuring out what patterns you need to work on and playing easier songs with those patterns... that's exactly what I did back when I was transitioning from 5s to 6s, and it worked super well for me. The problem is now I can't figure out which specific patterns I'm having trouble with.

Thanks for all your advice though, I really appreciate it. I definitely do need to stop doing that thing where you just play the same song 20 times out of frustration. Did that with one of the very few 6s I still can't clear the other day, and it was not a fun experience at all.

I don't know when it changed (maybe around GOLD or something?), but the Hard gauge used to be consistent with how much it drained. These days, if your percentage is around 30 or less, the Hard bar (and dan bar) decreases at half the rate. EX Hard is not affected.

CS Empress and LDJ IIDX should have the same Hard bar.
