It wouldn't be that bad with smaller sprites. Bigger problem would be porting it when the source isn't available.

An engine like danmakufu for the 3DS might be your best bet. There are some people working on that, but the relatively weak processor is somewhat limiting.

Did you mean to respond to >>15547432, the picture here >>15546343 is shrunk down enough that it would fit on the top screen alone. In the event that you don't mind it being rotated 90 degrees it could take better advantage of the wider 3DS screen (or the PSP screen which is about the same resolution) without the game looking stretched and would end up with everything being close to 1/2 the size instead of 1/4.

Have you seen PC-98 emulator for 3DS?
I don't.
Anyway It's still just ARM computer, so possible run *nix OS on it and install PC-98 emulator and/or run Win95 in Qemu or Some OS-level virtual machine and run 東方 but it's really slow.
