Considering how easy it is to reach ASW cap in line aboob the only time when ASW gear upgrades really matter is when you have to go line ahead or double line. In that case you're usually bringing only one ASW role ship. In that case instead of spreading your upgrades wide you'll ideally want 3x +6 T4s and a +6 T3DC

Upgrading 16inch to max GFCS is 376 devmats and 216 screws.
Getting mod fodder should take additional ~475 devmats with previous figures and kancolle-db info (25% penguin for 46 cm, 50% penguin for radar). So we're looking at ~850 devmats total.

There hasn't been a viable reason to keep any of the DDs at their highest remodel so far (unless you wanted Asashio on your expedition teams, which wasn't worth it compared to her base stats at Kai Ni). Asashio has excellent stats at Kai Ni, while Kasumi's highest remodel doesn't give you anything substantial (even the AACI is pretty meh).

I can understand keeping the cranes at Kai Ni A - although I'm perfectly happy with their base forms, at least as long as I need more air power over resilience and attacks at medium damage - but there's no reason to get the DDs to their final forms other than for the KanColleDex.

You should realize there are more DDs than Yuudachi, Ayanami, Kasumi and Asashio. Not to mention Ooshio is much stronger than Kasumi while Akatsuki and Kawakaze are just a single point below.

It's irrelevant once you consider power of anti installation eq and how scarce tank holders are. Max tank multiplies damage by 3.2. There aren't many DDs who can equip it so every one is important. Asashio K2D with two guns and tank hits harder than Yuudachi with two guns and WG42. Satsuki K2 with tank and T89 (third eq isn't even necessary) hits harder than Yuudachi with three WG42.

You should care about all misc stats which are also important for success even though they aren't idiot proof like fp is. K2D has +14 AA (installations always have bombers) and +3 HP, +3 armor (you always meet some DDs or cruisers vs which those stats matter). K2D also has opening asw attack which will be almost surely relevant on next such map. Asashio is the only DD who can do opening asw with tank and T89.

It's pretty complicated.

The modifiers of maxed daihatsu/tanks are really good but what concerns me is the fact that Mutsuki class really struggle with their shitty firepower to actually damage installations.

Wiki seems to believe they're all pre-cap, but that seems like bullshit since Bep and others can do daytime crits of 400-600 damage with all the gear equipped and that's way over the cap.

Yeah, it works. Two WG42 boost any DD to day cap damage, give 1.62 post cap and according to pic tank gives additional post cap modifier (range is perhaps based on upgrades?). Together with crit the post cap modifier can become x5.88.

I don't understand the composite effect though. Does it mean that with T89, tank and WG you get 1.81 * 2.42 *2.26 * 1.25 post cap modifier? (with crit giving possibly another *1.5) That would be x12.37 and x18.56 with crit which are FAR too much.

Switching isn't that hard, especially if you have a lot of slots for mod fodder like some wealthier anons do. You can accumulate enough in one day without an issue. It is annoying though for other people because you can't use the second form immediately. I guess if you have ~40 free slots switching as need arises would be preferable.

I don't think newer ships should artificially be stronger. I approve of the niches and gimmicks that K2[letter] gives, but I think that the ships should be given those weird quirks as the only upgraded form.

So Kasumi shouldn't have a K2, just the B. And the Cranes should go straight to their armored form.

When your ships have different abilities, it gives each of them their own niche to exploit. Bep can equip torpedo bulges. Why? Who the fuck cares? It might be helpful one time.

Kasumi can carry radars or the FCF. Both are useful, and you shouldn't have to choose. If the difference between the two forms isn't huge, you should just have the weirder one.

I can understand that, sure. The gimmick is the niche, and raw shooty power shouldn't necessarily be everything (which is probably why the Daihatsu and Ka-Mi were introduced).

The problem right now is that there are two different games, to an extent. There's the event-time game, which is where a lot of these gimmicks shine, and the off-peak dailies / weeklies / monthlies / one-off quests and worlds and maps, a lot of which are based on an older version of the game, which not all of these gimmicks are compatible with. You see stuff showing up in the newer maps like 6-4, but there's still 5 other worlds that aren't anything like that, where all you really think about is "How do I kill things most efficiently?".

We're approaching a point where we may have enough things at K2 - some of which have their own respective niches - that this no longer matters, since you can keep your event and off-peak ships specialised in whatever they specialise in. That much has to be said. However, that assumes that you're well into the late game, and while most of /jp/ is around there, the average player base probably isn't (filthy casuals etc.), and the "maximum shooty for efficient killing" mindset is probably still there.

How do you fix this? Hell if I know, I'm not a dev.
