I have a question for people that have been playing for a few years now: how the fuck do you do it? I started September last year and I'm already sick and tired of this game. Nothing is fun anymore and everything feels like a chore, I don't even want to send expeditions most of the time. I don't sortie at all either, if there's anything I actually want to level I just slowly do it in PVP because actually running maps to grind is so mind-numbingly boring now. Events are a breath of fresh air until I remember it's just the same old RNG bullshit with whatever extra layer of bullshit the devs come up with.

Started since Summer event of 2015, been loving it ever since. The high flux of doujins and fanworks make it even better, such as Yua, Kouji, and Shino's works.
Honestly I don't know what it is that makes me so attached to this game. I abhor and love the RNG, giving me an incredible feeling of satisfaction overcoming the odds set against me. The fleet composition and equipment setup adds small value of strategy which actually makes a signficant difference and it makes me keep coming back for more.

I log in once every few days to do PVP and set my expeditions. If I'm feeling really inspired I'll line up a grinding fleet and throw it through 4-2 or 5-2 a few times, until everybody has to go to the hospital.

I started playing in 2013, hit T-level level 99 in around nine months, and right now I'm T-level 101. I haven't actually completed an event since Arpeggio, but I have only skipped out on one event entirely so far, and usually end up trying to rush down most of them on the last day.

The only thing that's really keeping me in the game is the promise of new lines and my autistic desire to get a few more Mutsukis up to Lvl99.

Anyway, to answer your question.

We're going to have to prepare for a minimum of 3 land bases, though something tells me that it could go up to 4 (but that could just be me being paranoid). For the number of skilled 21s you need, assuming they keep spring 2016's range mechanics (best case scenario), take the number of land-based bombers you have, divide by 4, round up, then subtract the result from the number of land bases you're preparing for. But since we know that T1 Land Attacker Model 22A is a summer plane which is highly likely to be accessible to everyone considering how it was given out as an apology gift, that means that you can add 1 to the total number of land-based bombers you have.

Then for the number of fighters to prepare for the land base (including interceptors), you want maybe 2 for each land base you're preparing for. You'll also need maybe 7-8 fighters for your main fleet. This gives a total of 13-16 fighters/interceptors to prepare for. So subtract the number of skilled 21s you're going for (and Hien 244, if you have it) from the total number of fighters you want to prepare for. You'll get the number of 11+ AA fighters you'll need to prepare in total for the land base and your main fleet (keep in mind that fighters can go into land base slots but interceptors cannot go into carrier slots). That's the number of skilled 52s you'll want to upgrade. That is, if they don't add Reppuu into the upgrading pool. So after upgrading the skilled 21s, I'd advise you to hold your screws first, at least until the event starts.

Of course, the total number of fighters/interceptors to prepare for may vary from player to player. Plenty of players would be willing to settle for 10+ AA planes for the land bases, for example. So if you're one of them and if you have Hien (which gives 10.5 effective AA), that's one less. But no matter what, don't forget the number of skilled 21s you need to prepare for.

Note that if they do change the range mechanics, then obviously you'll need more skilled 21s and such, but there's no such guarantee. On the other hand, I highly doubt they'll buff those particular mechanics in the player's favour, so you'll most likely need at least the number of skilled 21s as calculated above. In other words, you can say that having the range mechanics being left unchanged is the best case scenario you can hope for.

Even considering the possibility that it could have been average range, I concluded that the max range was the average range rounded up, at least if the average was something like 5.5. Wasn't sure for the case of 5.25, but in the end I decided that only one of the planes needed to reach the required range, and so swapped the T96 around with one of the Muratas.

Oh fuck, I didn't swap the T96 with one of the Muratas. The first base still needed a plane with 6+ range. The first 2 bases both had a total of 22, giving an average of 5.5, which would have been rounded to 6.

It was while chipping that I realised that the requirement was just that one of the planes needed to reach max range, when I realised that the setup was even more effective when I swapped out my skilled 21s for skilled 52s.

How do you guys prioritize your equipment upgrades?

I thought that anti-installation equipment was going to play a bigger role in Spring, so I blew a lot of screws on that. They certainly helped, but I feel like my screws would have been better spent on just main guns desu.

Instead of trying to predict the gimmick the devs decide to use in the next event (I'm guessing ASW), I think I'm just going to try and spread my screw use so that I improve everything at least by a bit. My ASW equipment is weak anyways, so I might prioritize it anyways just to get it up to snuff with everything else I have.

imho upgrades don't make that big of a significant difference. The difference between a TTK who has akashi and who doesn't would probably be a difference of 5FP and 2-4 ACC. The biggest difference are unobtainable upgraded items like the 16in+GFCS

Upgrade everything equally except radar which can be ignored and maybe DD guns.

BB guns are important for general killing, but CA guns are important for installations and torps are important for non-installations. ASW is important too, and while the meme status of tanks is up for debate they're still going to be important.

I did CA guns first. 20.3 cm no.2 and no.3 to at least +6
Then I did BB guns. Base 35.6cms and 41cms, 35.6 because proto upgrades weren't upgradeable yet.
Then I did Quints. All to +6
Then I got really autistic and maxed 6 OTOs and 5 triple oxy torps.
Then I did duckyguns, which I'm still in the process of.

On Akashi's off days I did random stuff like maxing a small searchlight, putting +1 on my top foreign BB guns, on my strongest radars and on my top ASW gear. I also got an extra seaplane fighter.

Ive been doing daily upgrades for months and doing the vast majority of my screw quests. It's a lot of shit to deal with and the pool just keeps getting bigger and more expensive, but patience is the key here.

I don't know, maybe. I've been using all my development resources trying to make type 32s. It worked out that I could make a 3-2 setup that would give me something from every ship. Mutsu has 41cms, Shokaku has rocket launchers, 3bear has no3, gumos have sonar, and Rochang has her torpedo.

One gun at +4 gives +2fp and +2acc, half of that.

Of course, don't go crazy and upgrade 20 DD guns, you will never use this many. At one point it becomes better to focus on individual eq, you should feel when it comes based on your fleet and other eq.

Wrong. Farming Mutsu is MUCH cheaper.
It takes less than 2k ammo (<1k fuel and steel) to get two pieces of 41cm from remodeling Mutsu. Meanwhile 41cm has 8% from 10/251/250/10 which means ~6k ammo and steel per two guns on top of costing devmats which aren't so safe with recent upgrades.

One of my older posts:
Farming Mutsu is actually super cost efficient if you only do 5-4-A with her as flagship.
She needs ~30 battles to reach lv30 and only eats 20 fuel and 23 ammo per battle. Then you pay 900/800 for remodel and get two 41cm guns.
Cost of other ships is not counted because they gain levels.

Screws are important but you don't need everything on max to beat events so I just use the amount which is normally available, I don't even consider buying them. If i find myself lacking screws for some upgrade, so be it, I'll do something cheaper instead.
