You get disability allowance fairly easily if you're persistent. Just requires a doctor's signature every week for awhile and most won't turn you down.

I was diagnosed with ADHD as a child and for some reason when I was 16 both me and my mother were handed disability allowance and travel passes after sending off the application. My mother was getting the carers allowance which was a bit less than the €188.
I had it for around 6 years or more and not once was I actually disabled really. I just had a harder time functioning mentally but it's not like I was incapable of doing anything.

Bit ridiculous really. I used to use the money to buy everything I wanted, holidays, pc's, whatever. It was only when I got a job in my 20's that I rang them and was like hey I got a job. They didn't care they just cancelled it there and then. No questions about it.
