ou know how some people wear sports jerseys on top of hoodies? Well I have a t-shirt for my wrestling team. I want to wear it a lot so I started wearing on top of a hoodie instead of as a t-shirt. Now the normal thing to do would be get the design put onto a hoodie but I love the way it layers with the hoodie. It's hard to explain without a picture but it's basically just a black t-shirt on top of a grey hoodie. What do you think about me stitching the t-shirt onto the hoodie? Would that look autistic af?

I rejected a lot of things out of hand for having even a vague religious connection, a lot of books and other works. generally was pretty bitter and just wanted to destroy things/make people unhappy. I was VERY nihilistic and not in any good way, it was just unhealthy and pretty limiting, especially since a lot of the faith I put in "science" ended up being pretty hollow as well. desu going to university opened my eyes to a lot of new things I think, especially philosophy and literature. Reading the passion these people from centuries ago had made me want to investigate more and take it seriously rather than being bitter and passionless.

People who believe in good and evil/black and white dichotomies and that God loves and cares about them personally:
>[picture of a small brain]
People who believe we have no power, there is no god and nothing matters because everything is too complex:
>[picture of a normal brain with a bit of buzzing]
People who believe things are too complex but also that strict myths of "good and evil" need to be presented to the masses of plebs for their own good while in private thinking everything is just meaningless outside of the meaning they create as gods of this reality.:
>[picture of a large brain covered in electricity, third eye opened]
People whom'st realise all this complexity is just white noise and ultimately can/should be ignored for the most part so as to build common co-operation while cutting out the weeds in society with no moral qualms or the veil of myths and that while nothing matters; even the context we can create, everything is unified in the divine:

Sounds like what David Icke was saying about the illuminati in a vid I saw yesterday.
This notion that evolution is what allowed us to thrive on this planet is so bullshit.
Why the FUCK didn't anything "evolve" to withstand Mars's environment?
It's so fucking clear that our reality was created for us.
Some sort of intelligent design made us.
Why does the Fermi Paradox still hold up? Our universe is vast and old, yet not a peep from anything outside Earth.

Maybe it did at one point. Our time on this planet is a blink of an eye in the grand scale of things. Perhaps in a billion years Martians will be having the same conversation about Earth if it dies for whatever reason.

The Fermi paradox has been criticized as being based on an inappropriate use of propositional logic. According to a 1985 paper by Robert Freitas, when recast as a statement in modal logic, the paradox no longer exists, and carries no probative value.
hillary clinton should have been president
>>73912244
Mars is too shitty
Earth is a garden world
But the existence of life is a big reason why it is so perfect and beautiful
The biosphere basically regulates the entire planet for the most part, this is why things like deforestation and extinction are big issues, they lead to entire areas becoming wastelands and climate patterns shifting.
Like if the amazon keeps being cut down the region will turn into a desert like the Sahara and Europe will get absolutely massive levels of rainfall in return
Right now all that rain is kept in a pocket by the climate created by the forest

personally applied to shell, maersk, SSTG, hamburg sud, and clyde marine. Got accepted by two outta the bunch, so not bad going.
>>73912976
are you worried about losing your job?
>>73913052
Not particularly, there's not a huge demand for nav. officers currently, but the company I'm with have a good track record of keeping their guys employed for their whole careers.
>>73912976
ever been boarded by pirates
good morning lads
well not really good haha, morning
>>73913091
don't get it
>>73913076
nah, did have a bit of a scare when we were off the coast of chile about a month ago, some guys were attacking fishing boats less than 10 miles from us. We had some local boat police fellas escorting us for about 3 hours. Fun times
>>73913037
What got you the job, in terms of your past experiences/job history?
>>73913100
so wait, you spend your whole time at sea and I assume don't have much of a comfy living arrangement or internet/or anything to do much of the time?
>>73913064
will you get to drive the ship eventually?
What happens to old musicians who made made a few hit singles or popular albums in the 80s who now preform at places with ticket prices that cost like $15 now? Are these people still rich? Just how much money do you think Third Eye Blind is worth?
>>73913100
have you ever done a poo on the poopdeck
>>73913102
I studied IT for 2 years at sixth form, and spent a month volunteering on board a local charity sailing boat, which probably helped the most. Plenty of guys in my group that had literally zero experience, though
>>73913105
Yeah, we spend almost the whole time at sea, my current contract is 7 months. Living arrangements are pretty comfortable, everybody's got their own private room with en suite shower/toilet, and food is all round pretty good, though obviously this sorta thing will vary ship by ship, and company by company,
>>73913120
Yeah, that's the plan. Right now, the career path is Cadet > 3rd Officer > 2nd Officer > Chief Officer > Captain. Naturally im on the bottom rung of the ladder right now, but I'll be fully qualified in about 2 years time.
>>73913130
We don;t have a poopdeck, which was super disappointing as you'd understand.
think im gonna vote melenchon tomoz
>>73913037
Just what exactly is "working on ships?" Are you a certified shipmate or whatever it's called? Or are you specialized?
>>73913156
Nobody gives a shit
>>73913157
good vote (post)
@shiplad2
What's your salary (roughly)?
No living expenses at all whilst aboard?
How many months of the year are you at sea?
Do you not get bored?
Do you have gyms on board and stay fit?
How's the food?
>>73913156
then where do you poo?
>>73913156
what do you eat normally?
>>73913157
bad vote (post)
do you ever bum each other just for a quick release?
>>73913156
is there homosexuality problems on the ship?
>>73913156
So what exactly do you do?
>>73913188
>>73913189
wahey
Doing a listen to the Frank Skinner show.
https://absoluteradio.co.uk/schedule/
>>73913228
runt listening to a runt.
>>73913163
Yeah, there's basically 2 'schools' for working on a ship, Deck work, and Engine work. Deck work is navigation, stability, security, planning, that sorta thing. Not too familiar with engine work, but it's basically what you'd imagine from what I've read and seen
>>73913168
Salary is around £1200 a month, untaxed (working out of the country), no living expenses (although you can order luxuries if you feel like it).
How much time depends on your type of ship and contract. Ferries, for example, usually work on 2 weeks on/2 weeks off, whereas 'deep sea' stuff (what im on), tend to be 5-8 months at a time.
Yeah, we've got a gym, we've even got a sauna and a pool, although the pool is about 5x5m, and the sauna is the size of a broom cupboard.
Food is pretty decent, can't complain. Every sunday we get steak and chips, so im happy enough on that front.
>>73913189
Nah, there's plenty of porn (only straight, from what I've seen, sorry to disappoint) available on board if you fancy it
>>73913191
I help out with navigation and stability mainly, but during arrivals/departures I help out with mooring/unmooring. Also do some other misc jobs in and around the ship.
>>73913247
Would a runt be named Rear of the Year?
>>73912903
>another shiplad
/brit/ really has a thing for this career path
>>73913250
you should use the gym kiddo, might as well get /fit/ whilst stuck out there.
>>73913258
Ships are great tho
>>73913258
/r9k/ has a thing for long solitary work
/brit/ is the least normie general I believe
new thread
>>73913258
it's good work for single childless men
>>73913250
So are you in charge of the illiterate mongs who swab the decks and shit?
Did you have to do that first to move up?
>>73913285
don't think working on a ship is solitary work though. theres a bunch of other lads with you
>>73913305
Nah, they do what the Bosun tells them to do, and the Bos does what Chief tells him to do.
But yeah, for my first contract (on my second now), I was a little deck swabbing cuck
Working on a ship gives you 0 prospects for creating offspring
>>73913305
You have very odd perceptions of modern ships lmao, there aren't dozens of indentured spastics climbing the rigging and washing the deck.
has anyone ever walked the plank?
>>73913328
Yeah but ££££
why isn't he replying
aaah yes, a mediocre salary in return for living in solitary confinement
Think I'll pass thanks.
>>73913340
One day you're going to wake up being 35 years old with no wife
ill stick to being NEET thanks
>>73913076
bum pirates ya
wahayhayhay!
>>73913363
I have that now, only difference is I have to commute to work instead of waking up and just walking down the corridor
>>73913326
So is there an officer/non-officer divide, or does everyone start as a slae and then work their way up?
>>73913331
Well excuse me for not being an expert in something I know nothing about
>>73913363
Eh, Thirds get paid around £30-35k, Seconds £35-45, Chiefs £60k, and Captains are in the 6 digit range. Pay is untaxed, no living expenses, so is pretty decent all things considered.
>>73913410
>Pay is untaxed
I doubt that's intentional, you're just not paying it.
You're in for a shock if you ever return to the UK
Just ratted out ship-runt to HMRC lmao
>>73909114
This is insulting to me and my eagle
>>73913418
I'm not working in the country for most of the year, look it up pal
>>73913468
But presumably your ship flies under a country's flag, and is subject to their laws. Including tax?
someone make a new posting has slowed to a crawl
>>73913468
when you arrive in a city for how long does the boat stays there?
dont wanna make a new for some reason
phimolad get it done
>>73913418
Yeah, I just panic googled it;
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/seafarers-earnings-deduction-tax-relief-if-you-work-on-a-ship
Alls good
>>73913508
Depends on the port, and how much we're loading/discharging. Shortest stay I've had was about 5 hours, longest was just over 3 days.
Breakfast
>muesli
or
>eggs on toast
??
whoa......so this.....is how /brit/ dies
>>73913535
Eggs on Muesli
>>73913523
can you get get deliveries to the ship while you're at sea?
>>73913363
Are you kidding? It's a dream job. Imagine not having to talk to or be around people in an office dying slowly for more money: it's far worse.
>>73912913
likely he writes no worse than thou doest, Mister Angry.
>>73913157

Regroup lads
>>73913551
>>73913551
