小樹民族版

This is the thread for posting in Chinese (繁體簡體都可以) and discussion about the Chinese speaking world.

Let's discuss the lesser known people's of China in this one.
>>
>>65839170
Yes, everyone will understand just 畫,
>>
Everybody I talk to says opening up an independent school in Taiwan isn't worth it nowadays. Obviously the market has suffered from what it was a decade ago, but I can't believe people who say opening up a school isn't worth it. If my venture into entrepreneurship outside education doesn't go well, then I'm thinking about opening up a day care (less stressful than older kids IMO) in a smaller city without a ton of schools.

My gf is getting a masters in applied English and I might go to grad school eventually as well, so I feel like we have the credentials. The only question is whether or not can attract enough kids to make it worthwhile.

Thoughts?
>>
>>65839311
>Thoughts?
Are you lesbian? Men in day cares tend to be distrusted.
>>
>>65839311

I once met a Japanese girl from Macau with 7 siblings. I can't believe she wasn't some sort of maffiosa.
>>
>>65839311
can you simply open a daycare like that

here you'd need a degree in sociopedagogics or some shit like that and other qualifications
no idea about taiwan obv

>>
>>65839359
I guess that is one way to look at it. There might be some social stigma about men in daycare services that might work against me. I feel like I am an OK teacher, but I don't want to work doing assembly-line English meant to maximize test scores.

>>65839387
Yeah can't wait to double park my Luxgen and shake down the fried food cart owner. I'll be the scourge of Toufen Township.
>>
>>65839626
Regulations aren't that strict for schools, so I'm guessing they're even less for daycares. Daycare in America is pretty unregulated too (most places).
>>
I read the Annalects of Confucius today.
It was really nice.
>>
>>65839626
I would think the competition makes it hard to start one in Taiwan. Folks over there aren't making that much babies.

Bought them from a street vendor for a dollar each.
Except for the english translation of Tao Te Ching, that was ordered from england.
And the black books on the left.Prick would only let it go for 10 bucks for the three.
The black books contain the annalects,Tao Te Ching,Mencius' works and a few other texts, translated and annotated by the top sinologist of the time.
It was made for academic use.

Yes.
>>
>>65840719
I haven't really read any western philosophy,so I can't really compare.
Confucius' main concern (and I'm really simplifying it now) is stability.
I like stability and order. So I like Confucius.
>>
>>65840992
You will love Mencius. It is a superior work of literature and has arguments.
Master Zhuang is top tier as well.
>>
>>65841047
China has a lot of top tier stuff.
Currently saving up money so I can buy a decent copy of Romance of the three kingdoms.
>>
>>65840992
So he is more focused on politics and society it seems.

I only know the Quingming festival or one of the reasons for it seems to stem from Confucius' concept of Filial Piety.

>>
>>65840992
>>65840719
imo Confucianism discusses more about ethics and how to reign accordingly and it's more like political philosophy like Leviathan .
Just my two cents
>>
>>65841262
He is more focused on politics.
And puts a lot of emphasis on the value of family and respect.
>>
>>65841271

>>65840962
That's fascinating. 雲南 is just a dreamland of interesting nations, and anthropologists' paradise.
>>
>>65841368
>Leviathan
Read master Xun if you like that one.
He agrees with Hobbes on quite some things, just not the role of ritual.
>>
>>65841368
Also how to be a "good" person.
>>
>>65841368
Is he as authoritarian as Hobbes? If I recall his version of the state hinges on this.

>>65841370
His emphasis on family and society seems to have a lasting infleunce on East Asian culture. He may very well be the Chinese version of Plato in the sense of lasting infleunce
>>
>>65841669
I think chinese philosophy begins with him,and then orbits around him, while western stems from Plato and is growimg away from it.
So confucius = big planet with big gravitational pull(influence)
Plato = Soil to grow from (western philosophy being the tree)
>>
>>65841669
He would have none of it though. Confucius thought of himself as a teacher, and someone passing on a tradition with no ideas of his own.

>>
>>65842273
Buying books is pretty useless nowadays I guess, at least for those of us in the West. All of the libraries in my state are networked and they will just mail me a book if I request it (to the nearest library where it has to be picked up). I just like going to the annual book sale that the library hosts.

>>65842385
Hmm fair enough. I actually find ancient China to be quite boring, so I guess that explains the bias in my collection.

>>65842216
Confucius himself was not authoritarian. However, Confucianism since the reinterpretation of Dong Zhongshu emphasizes the paternal absolute authority of the monarch or one's superior.
>>
>>65842711
The books are sitting with the spines facing up, placed on top of two different sub-woofers.
>>
>>65842762
Ok, so it seems later Confucianists will go the authoritarian route.

how do you compare Eastern and Western philosophy?
>>
>>65842385
>>65842534
I think ancient China is comfy to read about, but pretty hopeless as a serious research subject. All that has been said about it has been said already, until some new archeological discovery is made.

liu chan is too smart, but in a way it didn't matter
liu chan is just like his father, at least if you believe the personality of the novel, except liu chan could not be as close to his servants, general or civil as his father, this closeness or the lack of give us the impression of a handicapped emperor, liu bei for most of his life was simply lord liu bei, 诸公. any way their resemblence comes from their willingness to go with the flow to survive the chaos, liu chan probaly knew shu cannot defeat all of northern plain but he had to be the emperor since zhugeliang can't win he needs to be there
one of the best example was an offician under orders asked him later if he missed shu after he surrounded and he said no to say so as an emperor is unheard of but as a duke no one cares, thus saving his own skin, sima yi could just as well poisoned him

zhuge liang is a brilliant minister no doubt but he is not a judge of people
he wronged and distrusted wei yan and he badly used ma su, by all accounts he was an autist

In case you guys needed another reason why Zunyi is the best Chinese city, look no further than 刘二妈米皮.
>>
>>65859756
>刘二妈米皮
What are the ingredients? Got more vocaroos of that girl?
How did you end up in Zunyi by the way? Red tourism or anything?
>>
>>65859810
>This snacking dish made with thick flat rice noodles is eaten by locals frequently as a light meal or to tide off hunger. The red oil sauce makes liberal use of Sichuan pepper giving it a distinctive numbing quality on the tongue. It also leaves a peculiar tickle in the back of the throat making it worth a try. Aside from the red oil sauce, it contains a few scraps of meat and preserved vegetables.

>Got more vocaroos of that girl?
Haven't talked with her in the past few days, been busy catching up on lost sleep :^)

>How did you end up in Zunyi by the way?
One of my good friends is a 遵义人. The first time I went to China was in July of last year to visit her and her family. Went back again earlier this year when I was living in Shanghai as well

>Zhuge Liang
>autist
Wow...I never knew that every account of him sees him as some Autist.

It is time for Dynasty Warriors to learn from this.

I never thought Liu Chan isn't that incompetent. That was the impression I always got from him, part of I used to suspect due to Liu Bei throwing him down onto the ground as a baby

what impression you had on chink hist?
>>
>>65859941
well that's my impression of him anyway
i think the author lou guan zhong did as well, not in those terms of course, because the novel basically has two leading "heroes" of action, xia hou dun and zhugeliang, xhd is the noble warrior serving a brutal lord, making friends and getting better then comes zgl defeating this other hero by force of intellect, summons winds burns boats collect arrows kills zhou yu controls flood, subjects barbarians scares zhongda with his corpse and invents perpetual systems

liu bei did that because it almost cost zhao yun's life
liu bei saw himself as one of them, brother in arms he was going to take over china that way so he wasn't thinking about his family, that's why it was so easy to leave his wife with guan yu

liu chan had to balance a country in a very bad position, zhugeliang was using every bit of resources they had the ministers always were fighting so being able to retain his status was not an easy thing compared to the 3 generations of cao and 2 generations of sima and the four generations of sun he did rather good since there is so much we don't know about him we have to infer that no one at least dared to dispose him

When you present it this way it looks like Xiahou Dun is more of a hero than Zhuge Liang. He now seems to use his intellect like an evil Bond Villain. Only to eventually die and be taken over by the true strategist Sima Yi.

Hehe, I know that Liu Bei did it because it caused trouble to Zhao Yun. This of course because of the ROTK drama I watched before(I didn't watch all of it as at the time I have to go for tuition on certain days).

I never knew much about the Sun. But is it true that Cao Cao was infatuated with one of the Quiao sisters?
>>

about double the time
>>65860998
>>
>>65861212
that's really to show off his character since he did steal yuan xi's wife
it's probably dramatization in this case, the qiao sisters where not a big deal in history but zhen ji was
cao zhi wrote seditious poems of her even though she was his brother's wife
supposedly the qiao story is like the helen of troy, the face that launched a thousand ships but most likely cao cao would not have heard of them, hence they are unnamed, daqiao and xiaoqiao means the older and younger qiao
>>
>>65861472
ROTK has cuckery in it since Yuan Xi got cucked by Cao Cao.

I got the whole Cao Cao infatuation with one of the Quiao sisters from Red Cliff 2 btw. But I guess now that you said it, it's probably fictional.

Did Cao Zhi manage to Cuck his brother?
>>
>Discussing ancient Chinese cuckery

it's not easy but this is the poem

Only the second one. Fan Ye screwed up in his assumptions of the timing. The first one was because Tao Qian invaded Cao Cao's territory first. And Tao Qian's murder of Cao Song would have been an acceptable cassus belli at the time. Filial piety was a big deal.

>>65859941
>part of I used to suspect due to Liu Bei throwing him down onto the ground as a baby
Never actually happened. That's a fictional story invented to make Liu Bei look like a better person. (Song/Yuan era literature was a funny thing. Stories from those times were bloated with tales where men were praised for sacrificing family members for "the greater good")
