What are the differences between Canadian French and French French?
>>
We sound retarded
>>
Québec French is strange. A Frog once told me Louisiana French is actually more intelligible
>>
Accent and some words.
>>
Our leader is not German
>>
Canadian French is supposedly uglier than actual French.
>>
>>55062758
>Louisiana French is actually more intelligible
how the fuck is swamp dweller french more intelligible?
I can barely make out swamp dweller english
>>
>>55062827
Their accent is closer to French from France than to French from Canada. More "neutral" sounding too, even if they sound American overall. Their English is way more unintelligible than their French.
>>
>>55062708
Take a peasant from your most backwards region and let him speak, then compare with the talk from the capital.

you got it
>>
Canadian French sounds cool and rustic
>>
>>55062708
Their pronounciation overall is different, they have an accent. The french they speak evolved on its own after the end of New France. They also have expressions that we don't use here, and they tend to use more anglicism, which is understandable.
>>55062743
No you don't.
>>
Lots of weird or old words.
Like their insults which are just unreal

Sometimes words don't mean the same thing. For example "gosses" means children in French, in Quebecois it means testicles

pronunciation is different too they pronounce toi like toué and moi like moué
and they add random sounds like s and z everywhere

and anglicisms but not the same as ours.

It's a pretty funny accent. It's sad though they must feel bad about being a laughing stock like the belgians. desu if I hear it I have to start laughing
>>
>>55063968
when you think about it, children are just an extension of testicles (very indirectly so, but still), so it kinda makes sense
>>
>>55062708
Canadians speak the 16th century dialect, while the French speak a modern version
>>
FUCK QUEBEC.

>EVERYONE MUST SPEAK FRENCH IN CANADA! Except us we are special snowflakes.

>>
>>55064095
Stop spreading this false meme please

First of all, if anything it's 18th century, not 16th century.

Second, it's ridiculous to imply that our dialect and accent hasn't changed at all in 250 years. I mean for fuck's sake just listen to the Radio Canada archives from the 1960's and see how it's changed.

For example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HjSfZWI-ZA
This is 1963, in Montreal. That was "only" 53 years ago and you can already hear a very big difference in accent compared to the Montreal accent today, especially in regards to the letter 'r'.

Sure, our dialect/accent might be "closer" to standardized mid-18th century Parisian French than the French spoken today in France is, but to claim it hasn't changed is plain old delusion.
>>
>>55064095
Is it like German and Pennsylvania Dutch?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CGLWWlVS8U
>>
>>55062758
He was high on strong stuff then
Cajun """"French"""" is basically English with some French words pronounced with an American accent
It sounds like a regular American learning French in school and trying to talk after a few lessons
>>
>>55064383
I don't know.

>>55064312
Accents vary from region to region
>>
Modern French - smooth, sexy, feminine

Quebec - hoarse, gruff, when they speak fast it sounds like they're choking on the words

Acadian - like Quebec but more English influence

Chiac - unintelligible to both English and French speakers

Any other French Canadian - closer to modern French but full of anglicisms and English pronunciations
>>
>>55064476
>Accents vary from region to region
Sure, but in Quebec's case the variation isn't really that significant, it's all mutually intelligible, unlike in some countries like Germany or the United Kingdom.
>>
The québécois literally sound like peasants or stroke victims, not even being mean here
>>
>>55062758
definitely not
>>
>>55063402

>>
Quebecois sounds like an englishman speaking french also all their women sound nasal

I know that Swiss German sounds like throat cancer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3-UfPCubsE). Is it the same with French?

French Swiss speaks very slow.
>>

Pretty much the same, they just say nonante instead of quatre vingt dix.
The only small difference is their intonation but that's about it.

It's mountain hebrew.
>>
I'd say the main difference lies in the way the vowels are pronounced, québécois vowels usually last longer, and are more nasal.
>>
>>55065812
Almost the same, like with Belgian French
The difference is nowhere nearly as great as with Québec
>>
>>55065790
>Quebecois sounds like an englishman speaking french
Nope. Nope nope nope.
>>
>>55062708
Quebecois has a lot of dropped/contracted vowels or even syllables, and different slang.

Ontario French is possibly the worst - it's like the language that even the Acadiens left to die.
>>
>>55066023
>tfw I can't manage to differentiate between French, Belgian and Swiss accents
The only ones I can tell apart are the really extreme ones like the stereotypical Marseillais or the Chti.

Even the English in the region is taking a shift... Hipsters taking on some semi-rhotic nonsense with terrible enunciation... plus the vowel shift.

Middle-aged and geriatric anglos in Toronto and Montreal tend to have this slight Englishness to their vowels, or straight up Pikey from the rock. The yuppies I have to work with sound like Appalachians trying too hard to fit in.
>>
French French sounds great
Canadian French should not exist
>>
>>55066282
>"Me name er Yohen"

I never realized how much a simple sentence like that in Nordic sounds like English
>>

It's like very mild Dutch.

"mit" is not "me" though it's "my". "Navn" got the same etymological origin as "name". "Er" got the same etymological origin as "Eart" (is/are). Word order is almost identical (English is predominantly SVO nowadays whereas Scandinavian languages are V2, but they are very similar).
>>
>>55067191
Yes I know all this

It sounded like "me" though

It always amazes me how Anglo-Quebecers are such a cancerous community.

I mean seriously how the fuck does an Anglo-American living in Anglo-America along with his 300+ million Anglo-American compatriots have the audacity to even pretend to be "oppressed"? I know pretending to be an oppressed special snowflake is trendy nowadays in the age of the internet, but Anglo-Quebecers really take it too fucking far.
