They really are even now. Take away all the noise from immigration and refugees, and you will find a bunch of cool, tech savvy people. Probably my favorite on this Earth

Not really. You're white and all, but you look really foreign and not Norwegian at all. I think most people would see that you're not Norwegian.

I'm learning Japanese
I started back in my junior year of high school nearly 3 years ago. Unfortunately, after I graduated, I lost almost all of the time I had to study the language. Now, after about a year gap, I've found how to work it back into my schedule and I'm trying to re-learn what I forgot
I managed to keep a surprising amount of the language, but I've still lost a full year of potential learning/advancement.
Now that I'm nearly 20, I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever be able to hold a fluent conversation with a native speaker.
Even on the internet I'm beholden to a dictionary; my functional vocabulary is nonexistent and it takes me several minutes to write a hilariously broken sentence.
>>75978971
That's how we all start my friend. I remember how I always had to look up every word and couldn't string together a sentence. After continuous practicing I eventually got past that. Right now I'm actually having the same experience with Japanese but I can feel it getting better.

Just do 10-20 words a day in anki and you'll know enough words to speak pretty easily with natives after at most 3 years (at the 10 words a day pace). If you're at 20 words a day that means after only a year and a half vocabulary is not the main obstacle anymore and you just need to keep engaging in native material. (Note though that although core is great, no matter how much of core you do you will still probably need to pick up a couple thousand more slangy/modern words outside of core too.

Anybody go wayyyy up the family tree and apply for Italian Citizenship? I'm thinking of doing it but it seems like a massive pain in the ass and probably prohibitively expensive
>I was born in New York
>so was mom
>so was grandfather
>so was great grandfather
>great-great grandfather was born in Bari in 1892, emigrated to New York in 1911, and became a naturalized US citizen in 1924 after having my great-grandfather in 1917
As far as current citizenships go, I have American citizenship and I'm in the process of applying for Canadian. I don't have any EU passport right now, so I guess that's a potential plus.
kek classic Americans
Is that even possible?
I thought most countries jus sanguine or whatever is just for 2 generations
>>75978475
Apparently for Italian citizenship it is.
For the relation
>mother -> grandfather -> great-grandfather -> great-great grandfather
>CATEGORY #11: Your paternal great grandfather was born in your native country, your paternal great great grandfather was an Italian citizen at the time of his birth, and neither you nor your father nor your paternal grandfather nor your paternal great grandfather ever renounced your right to Italian citizenship. If citizenship is acquired by birth in your country and you meet all these conditions, you qualify for Italian citizenship jure sanguinis.
So apparently, I do, it's just I need an assload of paperwork (all birth/marriage/death certificates of everyone up that chain as apostille and then translated to Italian certified copy).
For the Canadian citizenship it's now limited to the first generation born outside of Canada. I qualify, but if I had any children outside of Canada after getting proof of Canadian citizenship, they wouldn't.
>>75978410
Well, I work in a global industry and I don't have an EU passport. The Canadian citizenship is practical for work (currently under a Canadian work permit, which I wouldn't have to repeatedly renew if I got proof of citizenship).
