How to speed up my proccess?

tl;dr: please give me tips to make my proccess faster so I can get some money

>experienced artist
>majored in fine arts
>starts sending out portfolios
>couple of people call back
>get a couple of freelance jobs
>bosses have deadlines
>really short deadlines
>really really short
>like 1 week for an illustration INCLUDING edits
>brazil is going through an economic chrisis and no one is hiring so I take the jobs anyway
>I'm very slow
>too slow
>and I mean it like really really slow
>a complete illustration (one character, simple background, 1 or 2 lightsources, nice redering, one alternative version with different details) taking me 2 weeks at least
>after 3 days I tell the boss I'll not be able to do it
>recommend a friend of mine who is incredibly fast
>he then recycles an old sketch, get the job and share the payment with me (70/30)
>no jobs for me
>no moneys for me
>living with my mom
>will become an art teacher in a private school
