TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

>>

Don't listen to him, Photoshop is one of the strongest tools you can use. There's a reason why it's industry-standard.

CSP/Clip Studio Paint is also good, or Krita if you don't want to buy anything/too dumb to pirate
>>
>>3056752
OKAY FAGGOTS LISTEN TO THIS:
Do not download any torrents although I usually get mine off cgpeers so get an account on this and cgpersia if you can. I only use torrents because my internet speed is shitty and I have access to a tonne of private trackers where people will scream if it's fake and the offending uploader will get permanently banned from that site as well as every other tracker.

Anyway download the TRIAL VERSION OF PHOTOSHOP CC 2017 off the adobe website.

THERE ARE 4 DIFFERENT CRACKS FOR ADOBE PRODUCTS, ALL SHA-1 CHECKSUMS ARE TAKEN FROM REDDIT
TO USE THESE CRACKS
1. Download a copy of the cracking application from ANYWHERE. Doublecheck that the SHA-1 MATCHES THE SHA-1s in this post as this will ensure that the cracking exes are legitimate
2. use the crack app with the trial AS DOWNLOADED OFF ADOBE'S WEBSITE

1. Universal Adobe Patcher 2.0 by PainteR the successor to amtemu:
SHA-1 checksums:
adobe.snr.patch.v2.0-painter.zip 573 kB 7F4848FF9DACC01FE3EB65FDF32DF29A3A78BAF3
adobe.snr.patch.v2.0-painter.exe 587 kB 7D0D2B434B51ABE91E5B16E4C8DC8D26143B138C
2. amtemu - this is old so do not use
amtemu.v0.9.2.win-painter.zip 1.80 Mb 4320BF75BE097090B3866D7DB9813CF4E2214993
amtemu.v0.9.2-painter.exe 2.39 Mb CAAD125358D2AE6D217E74CFCD175AC81C43C729
amtemu.v0.8.1.mac-painter.dmg 1.34 Mb FA6A234DEC9BD736072D9E237CFD2993BA007E4C
3. amtlib.dll crack
4. XFORCE. I believe this is a P2P release group that releases on CGPersia. Releases from this group are more difficult to use but can be freely updated whereas with UAP you'd have to update then recrack.

Use UAP.

If you don't have cgpeers another good source of photoshop is tumblr because people will reblog posts and the ones with thousands of notes are unlikely to have viruses. Typically these cracks are amtlib.dll and they are idiotproof and the tumblr posts all have guides on how to install it in an idiotproof fashion and a trial in the post too.

CSP 1.6.2
A few people reported getting this off torrentproject.se I think that this one is the same one shared on CGPersia/cgpeers but if there is a 1.6.3 version floating around it's in japanese so get the 1.9.2 version.

Two things that help: there are 5 lobes in lips (3 superior, 2 inferior), of course more or less pronounced, and you shouldn't draw the external outline. Concentrate on the change in planes (= value).

Another thing beginners have problems with is that they use lines for everything... you need to use the body of a pencil to make soft edges over the lips or you'll always get that flat drawn on effect
>>
>>3056792
I've gotta admit, I'm not really comfortable going to a russian forum that some guy I've never heard of on twitter recommends to download a crack installer

Does anybody know a method that would help me with limbs? I can never find the correct proportions, and end up with elephant-like legs or twiggy arms. Is there a trick to limb-width in relation to rest of the body?
>>
>>3056799
Verified torrent providers are a massive meme. They don't actually make any of the cracks, they simply rebundle cracks produced by people like PainteR. Most of the time it seems they provide a 1:1 copy of the crack file. Some of them will maliciously modify the crack before giving it to you in order to cause you to install things like bitcoin miners on your computer. Therefore, if you want to use cracks ideally it is a good idea to get it from the cracker's own website/releases if you intend on using them. We can also ensure that the copy of the crack that we torrent is the same as the one released by comparing SHA-1 hashes. However, SHA-1 is actually outdated and people can produce files with the same SHA-1 hash even though they are different due to what's called SHA-1 hash collision, although I think that it's unlikely that they will retain the same filesize or the same function for that matter!

On public trackers, anyone can upload, and you can't ban them once it's found that they are uploading malware and they suffer no repercussions - they can simply make a new account.

That being said the cracks found on most public trackers and private trackers would be literally identical. With software, there is no guarantee that what you see is what you get, unless you are clever enough to code yourself or the crack is opensource and you can read the code and compile it yourself.

If you can get the full version of the software with only a keygen and no copying and pasting of exes you can also run the keygen inside a virtual machine or a sandbox to ensure that whatever is potentially in the keygen can't come out and use the code once generated to activate the clean trial version of the software obtained off the manufactured website thus ensuring that you are completely safe. Another thing you can do is to create a virtual machine and to install the pirated software only inside it.

While I've always understood the reference to Hampton or Loomis for beginning artists, is it a truly proper critique for those who don't intend to draw akin to realism? I guess what I'm getting at is: Is Loomis/Hampton good for anything but fundamentals for an artist who does not intend to stay in the vein of realism? I often ponder that. I don't intend to sound argumentative towards the methods of learning Loomis/Hampton, it's just a genuine question.
>>
>>3056927
hampton it up then you can use what you learned to make your weeb/comic shit look better

You need to draw realism before drawing stylization.

There isn't a single great artist in the world that cannot draw a realistic scene.

>>3056933
That's a good point. Though, I've never considered how heavily stylized artists fair in the realm of realism.

I will never understand why beginners try to start out drawing realism. It would be like taking a drivers test in an 18 wheeler, which has like 15 gears and manual transmission, with no prior knowledge of how driving works at all.

I started out, when I was a kid, drawing cartoons and super heroes. Things appropriate to my skill level at the time. It took me till I was a teen to do realism. Yet I see beginners jumping in the deep end, and feeling like shit because their attempt at a portiat looks like a kid drew it... Oh well.

Make neck shorter
add clavicle bone
make left boob interact with lifted arm (boob moves as pec moves)
tilt head upwards
fix nose (where it connects and nostrils)
fix mouth (symbol drawn)
for the love of god fix ears
make hair blow in the wind, it's more dynamic

these were the bare baselines so the ear was definitely not staying that way lol. Working on corrections now. Shortened the neck but I may have made it too short. I've been looking at it for 2 or 3 hours now though so maybe it's just me. Added clavicle bone.

As far as the body goes, am I doing alright? I notice most of your comments were with the head.

>>
>>3057259
You misunderstand drawing, anon. Drawing references are done out of necessity. Memory is fallible and imperfect. You won't have a clear idea of what something looks like until you've studied it closely. To study it you need references. Even then, it will take multiple iterations until it you memorize it.

It's a sign of lack of drawing experience on your part to assume that references are without use or that pro artists never used them. Pro artists have mileage. They have studied an object so much with ref that they can now do it from memory. You are nowhere near that stage yet, and you will never get there with wrong drawing understanding.
>>
>>3057184
You should distract yourself from time to time. Also don't look too much at your drawing, pay more attention to the reference itself. Don't concentrate on one part of the face for too long or your brain will start to magnify it. Jump from place to place as often as you can.

Mirror the picture if you think you can't see the mistakes anymore!
The midsection's a little too stylized for my tastes, but if sexy's your angle and you get it right, the normies won't notice.
Now that I look at it, the left arm including hand might be a little too big. Also I'm p sure that in the right arm's pose, you shouldn't be able to see that much of the wrist.
Overall, the pose seems a little stiff but dynamic/convincing posing comes with time and practice.

next time try not telling us that you did it while smoking weed so you wouldn't use it as a crutch for an otherwise mediocre and boring abstract drawing without any real intent

I just finished some of the updates, I messed around with the left boob and made the neck shorter. Messed with the nose and mouth a little too and fixed that ear for the most part. Don't know how I'm gonna go about tilting the head. Maybe just magic wand it and rotate? Also the eyes are a little big so I'm gonna deal with that as well. The open-hand wrist is a mystery to me because I couldn't find a good reference so I kinda just winged it.

And yea I'm trying to give it sexy comic book proportions so it'll sell. I live in a city where comic books are a pretty big deal so I wanna try to cash in a little.

had to crop it in MS paint cause the file is too big now

Don't do that. It's clear that you copied the book, but did not understand what it was about - the circle, the lines, all of it.

Still, you chose a wise road yo follow. That's ways ahead of most.

Go to the sticky, and download everything. Follow the /ic/ Guide. Get rid of sumbols, learn to make lines again, with clarity and certainty, and practice ALL. THE. GODDAMN. TIME.

Then come back, and see why the comments, however douchey, are here.

P.S. Shading makes everything look better. But where to shade? Studystudystudy.

I wish I had a pic for the boob, but you're drawing them as very solid balls. Boobs are squishy and react to gravity and muscle pull. If you have your own, see how they move when you lift your arm like that. The ear is bueno now.

I get what you meant by the face feeling off now. It's not a very appealing style imo, the mouth is very small and shows little emotion.
About the tilting of the head, I think what I was actually seeing was the wrong face proportions and overall head size. The entire lower half of the face feels too small compared to the eyes and forehead (which sticks out a fair bit more than it should). Also, the head size is def too small now seeing how you've planned out the rest. The head size is probably the most important point.

Sorry if I'm rambly or incoherent, this is a journey for me as well lel
>>
>>3057413
the boobs are gonna be inside a fairly skin tight suit if that makes things seem any better. I'll try to redo the head in a more consistent way. I fixed the fist-arm just now too, albeit it's still kind of big. Gonna play around with the size instead of just the placement.

You were right though, the new placement for the arm looks a lot better. Made a faint layer behind the base lines and penciled where the arm should go and adjusted accordingly.

But seriously, at this point you are at the bottom of the barrel, from now on you can only get better and better and since you are barely starting you will see progress almost inmediately using references, practicing fundies and reading books, but since you are new to this. reading books for the sake of getting better is kind of annoying and boring, you could draw whatever you want ONLY because you are started, once you get past this phase and want to really get better you can stick to practicing fundies, reading books and asking for critique
>>3057411
>Still, you chose a wise road yo follow. That's ways ahead of most.
He is right tho, if you want to choose this path from the really beggining you will "git gud" relatively "soon", althought it is your decision how to progress, you could ratio it like 40% stuff what you like to draw and 60% fundies, play with the ratio without burning out.

Sidenote, get used to the memes when you get to the point of asking for critique, althought those memes have a reason tho, it's just the shitposters who use them harmfully against everyone who legit wants to improve
>>
>>3056719
came here thinking i would be the only fag complimenting you but since no one has given a critique like you asked and even though im self taught i think i got some shit. so i know this is one of ur first paintings and u just wanted to finish it already so you could stand back and say hey look at what i made. totally understandable, but what might help next time is more definition in the trees idk if ur doing this from ur head, im guessing u did but you used a reference, kudos, but just add more negative space (a few blue and white speckles on the left side where the tree goes above the mountains. also add some highlights like another anon said the the parts of the branches that are getting hit by the light the most and make the shadows toward the inside of the tree really dark. also the tree is a little lopsided so maybe take some time before starting the painting to construct all the objects and make sure they make sense. this will just help you alot when u starting to place ur colors and just make creating the painting a lot easier. i know it seems boring to do the same thing twice but after you see the improvement especially if your getting frustrated and feel like you just cant do it youll get a lot more comfortable. construction should help with the negative space issues i mentioned before. looks like you have an instinctual basic understanding and soon enough youll gain more and more understanding of what your painting and how to paint it. im excited for you! happy painting brotha

Hey man, I did and still do drawabox exercises as warmup exercises before I draw and I'll tell you, they helped me immensely in having confidence to draw lines and curves, at least for me thats all I got from it.

Then I watched Dynamic Sketching 1 from Peter Han and its basically the same shit, my sketches turned from absolute shit to less shitty and some even somewhat decent.

You get what you invest in, if you keep doing the exercises and doing them right, you'll get better at draftsmanship, better lines, more confidence.

And if I'm not mistaken, this exercise you did 100% wrong, look at drawabox reddit, there are good examples of the exercises there.

Too long. Anyone will tell you thay here.

The view is inconsistent - it looks like a front view turned to 3/4 solely by the ear placement, because you went for straight horizontal line.
After the "cut" part of head's ball it should curve, leaving a better guideline for ear foreshortening and additional skull mass on the back.

Great features, though, especially the nose, the lips are still symboly, but not bad.

Better perspective, more consistent shading, and for God's sake unbreak this man's neck, but you're good.

I'm a beginner and I'm going off what I've read repeatedly -- isn't it best to learn how to draw well realistically, then go into stylised art? When you can draw realistically, you can bend realism to create cartoons. Then it will truly be your style.

If you draw cartoons first, you're both reinforcing bad habits, learning no proper anatomy, and copying other people's style rather than developing your own.

/ic/ what do you think? Took me 5 minutes to draw. I've been drawing for 3 years with inconsistent long pauses in practice. Heck I just started drawing after a week of no inspiration. I can't draw jack shit since I can't get worthwhile inspiration at all. All in all I have no pieces of artwork that has a single subject. All of it goes to drawing practice which I have no intention of keeping. I'd rather burn the abominations. I don't know what I lack.

So I need to learn to draw as all the doors I want to open are opened by it and sometimes I love it. But 90% of the time I find it boring as fuck

When I practised a game 12 hours a day I hated it after like 2 for like 2 weeks but eventually I grew to really really like it and find it easy enough to get into daily. Will art be that way or have you gradually grown into it in the same manner?

It's all skewed to hell, neck somehow got moved over, jawline/hairline are off, nose too small, and most importantly everything is fucking symbols instead of actual features arhgggh
>>
>>3058061
Now you can either redraw it after carefully figuring out what you should fix or you can move onto another drawing. After a few months the improvements are obvious.
>>
>>3058055
dont listen to this guy. you wont learn anything. tracing can only be used if you already know how to draw.

>>3058061
try to look at roman/greek statues and try to understand the form of the features of the face. Instead of drawing a outline all the way around the features, you need to outline only the important spaces/the shadows, and leave out the lightened/small plane changes.
>>
>>3058054
it's good that you've acknowledged your current hurdle is symbol drawing. your next drawing you should focus on where the values are.
the bottum lip should not have that outline, if you turn everything into grayscale, you'll find that the bottum lip and the skin below blend almost seamlessly: it has the same value, so you should NOT be making that harsh a line. in fact, no line would be better. instead, a line should be placed between the corners of the lips with varying weight in between as they meet. the line of the top lip is a faint gradient instead of a harsh line like you've done.

try again but focus on where you actually see light and dark rather than what you symbolically know is there.

Overall proportions are wrong, head is too big. Upper body is mostly ok, although there is not much to discuss, since she is wearing a literal parachute. There is only neck and collarbones (you fucked them up by the way). In lower part of the body pelvis region is all wrapped and misshapen. Also there shouldn't be any shadows on the left (to us) leg. Those are the things I noticed right off the bat. There is probably more.

read the sticky. read keys to drawing. be focused on your goal and never slack on doing studies because that is where you learn.

use a pencil and paper for the first year or so or else you'll get frustrated and give up drawing. people in this thread (as well as my friends) who have had no experience drawing and started with a tablet gave up about two months in because digital drawing for a beginner is the one of the harshest things in the art world.

or you can disregard my information and see for yourself

i did, but i want to get into more manga / anime style and the sticky talks about real human anatomy style which may or may not be what I want.

they also talk about perspective and environment drawings.

You need to learn proper anatomy and how to draw realistically first, so you can bend that to create your own style. If you don't, everything you do will be a copy of someone else's drawing.

There is a lot to say about this, but the lips stood out to me as something you probably can fix the easiest: Don't connect the line of the bottom lip right to the corners, indicate the lower lip and leave it there. The outline of the upper lip is overstated. Keep in mind that the upper lip is just value, so you you can try being super light with the outline of the upper lip or just shade the whole upper lip in very lightly. Pay attention to the shadow shape where both lip meet in the middle. Keep measuring and don't be afraid to spend too much time for a simple drawing.
>>

Can someone please post the photograph that is in the middle? Thanks.
