That mouth's looking a bit large and lack's some darker colors, try simplifying the nose to a more basic shape, the attention to detail on the nostril is off-putting. Separate the boob from the pectoral / shoulder muscle. The neck's too long and the chin is looking too recessed, either move the point to bellow the middle of the nose (without accounting for the angle of the head) or add some more squish to the cheeks. Her right shoulder is too close to the neck.

It's very well done. Quick composition thing to consider.
Her right arm creates a tangent with her right breast, which serves to flatten that part of the image. A small tweak to the angle of the arm would fix that.
On the bikini top, her left breast, lower inside quadrant, the yellow border shouldn't be visible. Eliminating it should help her left tit "pop" out.
The edge of the mouth is a bit jarring, but I don't know how I'd fix that, or if I'd even mess with it.

That's just cel shading. Has nothing to do with a brush. It has to do with light and shadow. Instead of multiple shadows they just use a core shadow.

Use warm colors to shade, no green. Purpleish blue will work on almost anything. Cell shade it with a hard brush. You need to understand form in order to be bold with it.
Use a soft brush to erase some of the edges. On skin, make the edge of the shadow pinker.

How do you know how to vary your lineweight?

Mostly the light source for the overall difference. But also material. Skin I generally kept thin, clothing thicker. The interior where the clothing or etc... touches the skin is darker as well. While at the same time varying each line by having connecting points and outward curves be darker.

The black areas where I filled in are where it's pure shadow, though I used the artwork for Blazblue Central Fiction as reference for how that's done.

Yes. I use a custom G-Pen in Manga Studio. These are my presets based on personal preference. It should give you a base to build off of. For me at least, this makes a HUGE difference. I have a lot more control over my lines this way. Also, normally I have the Random value at around 30, but in this case I wanted really clean lines, so I removed it entirely. To mess around with this stuff, click on the button in the Pen Tool Properties tab that looks like three dots arranged in a triangle.

Forgive the phone camera, it wouldn't let me use the snipping tool to grab a screencap (the presets tab kept closing whenever I clicked anything else).

its a cute concept. I think the boobs were actually better in the first one. in this one they're pushed unnaturally close together. If you want them to have cleavage like that than I think that you would make the bottom have a line straight across instead of the two C shapes you have as the bottom (think about how a bra looks, the bra is straight on the bottom and round on the top, the middle connecter removes the disturbance of the two Cs and makes a gap between them, thus making it just a straight line that represents the line that goes around the woman's ribcage. A little bit of curve at the bottom is good but I think there should be one more line below it)

When you feel that way, just tackle one problem at a time.

Or, if this isn't digital, draw it again, and fix things that you know for sure are wrong along the way the second time.

Lots of people don't know the value of drawing something more than once - they just never try it or try it only once.

The head is too big for the body. start with that, and just that. One thing at a time. One small improvement. One problem.

Look, analyze, fix. Ask yourself 'what needs fixing' then 'how could I fix that?' maybe you need a ref, maybe you know the answer right away.

And then when things look okay 'correct' wise, don't just ask 'what needs fixing' because art isn't about being correct, or fixing things, it's actually about making things look good.

So ask the question, 'what would make this look even better?' and then do that. One thing at a time.

I know this was a conscious choice you made, but I think if I was to change this in any way, I'd have made her head hanging down looking at her reflection that way instead of the upright position it's in now. Also this is super rough (the W10 draw function is not great), but since you still seem up in the air about her left arm, I might try this.

The pants are not just Juri's though. One of the girls in Beat Blades Haruka has them, and they're also part of the female Naruga set in Monster Hunter (my real inspiration for the design). They're somewhat common among female Ninja designs, and I like them cause they form a nice sillouhette and are a bit sexy.

The pose, I got by using a doll as a point of reference, and repositioning stuff when drawing it on paper.

I wish I could give you something specific. I really like how kim jung gi handles his lines and line weight, specifically how he manages to minimize chicken scratch by rarely lifting his brushpen. best practice for that is doing lots of work in pen or just erasing less. as for the style, I'm a big fan of JC leyendecker's faces and try to emulate them as best I can without copying them outright. hope that helps.

Pretty styley. It's hard to reach because the mice heads are all the same value despite receding into the background. You're using overlap only to show distance, and not using anything like thicker lines for closer mice, or etc.

So my advice would be make the colors further away slightly different. Like maybe add a touch of grew to the mice as they get further and further away, or green to reflect the grass, or blue to reflect a sky, or something.

Whatever you think is best. To separate them from the ones in the front more. Personally I would also do it with line thickness or some other convention.

How long have you two been drawing?

for me, roughly 10 years of serious drawing, not full time, but at least serious about it. before that I was off and on for .. I don't know how long.

I wanted to learn younger but was afraid to try so I started getting serious only late.

the other poster might have more or less years on me, but its hard to tell because you can always spend longer on your work to make it look better

that's one of the secrets of art - if you're a beginner or don't have many years under your belt you can just spend more time on your pieces and still get great results.

Like I noticed that artist there has the eyes slightly off a lot in those pics, but if he's been drawing as long as me, those pics wouldn't have taken him as much time ie he'd know how to fix them

on the other hand if he's been drawing not quite as long maybe they did take him a significant amount of time, but they're still very decent and he likely has what it takes to fix them anyway with that kind of dedication

so some of the tricks he's using for the hair are darkening values at the roots and the ends, having the 'insides' of the hair be lighter contrast - you can do that with value or with thinner lines, or a number of tricks

he has a midtone in the one pic with some highlits but its still basically relying on what I just said.

And then the actual direction of the hair, that's just something you learn from practice in drawing from refs, you can also take note that all hair flows out from the roots, and sort of, flows together, rather than against itself more often than not.

the top of the head of the last girl uses the light midtone to indicate the line where the hair parts.

Pretty darn good, just make sure your line l pretty darn good, just make sure your line lengths and dangle changes aren't too consistent. When you are at this level, the difference between being advanced and being absolutely professional is often down to things like that.

So you will notice that your line lengths are all very similar throughout the entire figure - try to avoid that. Remember the importance of contrast.

nah but for real, I can tell you're going for like a 'flat' thick-outline style, but making him look like an actual cardboard cutout isn't very appealing. Adding subtle things, like overlapping lines where arms bend, can help imply form and sort of 'sell' the image. Look at the way his hair parts; it looks like the area around his forehead is facing straight toward the viewer, but the guy's head is turned to the left.

Also the button on his shirt is making a tangent with the line next to it, making it not read as well as it could.

Is your lineart done through refining/carving out your sketch? You've got a 3D-model-like look to a lot of your lineart that reminds me of another artist I've been trying to replicate but I can't seem to do it through the typical inking over your sketch process.

I just dont think the boobs on her would be that obvious looking, She looks young and while this is pin-upy i think its more cute than sexy, so you dont want those big funbags hanging off her rib cage likes she's had too many kids.
also the boobs you drew are out of perspective, that might really be your probloem here. You're not getting the volume. Try making a wire frame for your character, it will challenge your mind and you'll improve while making it look right.
I could not stand to watch this so I redlined it.
Heres a suggestion, instead of making lines for the boobs how about implying it with shadow and maybe a few subtle lines (kind of like how noses are done a lot, they usually have lines for the nostril but the bridge is done with a shadow that leads into those lines)
I mapped out where some of your shadows would go in the first pic
In the last pic would be more like if you wanted to keep doing it line art style. Try to use her clothing to imply her boobs instead of drawing her actual titties.

It's extremely short and bent in a very awkward way. If you were trying to foreshorten you should of put the arm in a different position, Infront of the character. When I say it's disgusting, I mean it in a way if the character where in a different position they would have a deformed limb.

Progress, it's a bit messy. Satan is supposed to have 3 pairs of tits but I could only physically fit 2, so I'm a bit disappointed.
I also think the pose would look better if I just rotated the whole thing a bit clock-wise so the leg is more vertical so it looks like it's standing on it
