You talk as if everyone that practices art does it for financial gain. I draw because I enjoy it, I already have a comfy and stable income of £35k. It relaxes me and I get a buzz out of having created rather than consumed.

I remember him talking of getting yelled at for drawing in class while the teacher was talking and he didn't like being told to not draw in art school. He got good while living at home with his parents and drawing for 12 hours a day for a few years, and posted it all online on conceptart.org forums, but the forums are fucked now so if you want to be able to see his journey you need to go to his DA and you can download some zips of the artwork and practice he did to get good.

People don't just flock to artists because they're good at art. Technical skills are a dime a dozen. Artist get followings because people want to interact with the artist as a person. They don't just like the piece of what it is, they like it because of who made it. The artist behind the piece gives the picture "lore", which takes it beyond just being a picture. Just fucking look at Shadman. You think people on /ic/ never shut up about his edgy ass because of his skill? It's because he's turned his shit into a brand. Even if you hate the guy, you look at any of his stuff and you know he made it. That's what builds up a fanbase. You have to interact with people and get them hooked on your energy, so that the art becomes your art and not just anot her picture.

You're fixated on being technically accurate, but there's no heart or personality to your work. Its flat and generic, and It looks like literally anyone who isn't you could have done it. In general its an overused buzzword that people throw around without knowing why.
