FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?

>The original developer of the site has taken a leave for quite a while, originally due to medical reasons. Progress on the site is almost non-existant at this point. You can try contacting him at @LavaFlake or emailing him at [email protected].

What do we draw?

>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.

What's a low effort warning?

>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.

>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.

What happens if I'm eliminated?

>Your streak will go back to 0 and you will have to start again. No other penalties.

How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?

>There is no week system anymore, instead new users are given "streaks" based on the number of consecutive days you can submit without getting eliminated. (token losses do not reset your streak)

Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?

>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

I've got issues with spending too much time on drawings. So I've been trying to efficientize (is that even a word?) by not spending more than an hour on each drawing.

Finlay good job grinding you madman but there are some consistent issues with your head. Off a brief glance, eyes not following the curve of the face, eyes consistently being too far apart and too close to the ears, chin and jaw often being too close to mouth. Recommend at this point doing a large scale head study and really focus on form and the planes of the head instead of all those tiny ones.

Jerrybreem your eyes are consistently too far apart and sitting on a plane of the face that doesn't really exist. Also, the 3/4s angle you often draw at you dont seem to be accommodating how the halves of the faces look in perspective. Examine the relative heights on the face of different components of the face, especially the eyes. Look at a ref, do it, and then draw a line down the middle of the face for both your ref and study.

Echo you have this nice trademark skin tone that often looks very rich and well done, but for the first time I'm able to see how the temperature is too hot in certain contexts. Keep the trademark style, its a great thing that makes your art recognizable and I personally enjoy a lot, but try to be mindful of when it needs to be dampened and modified in relation to different environments.

Nicnac good job making the jump to digital. Theres a lot of common issues that are immediately recognizable with beginners to digital, several of which you can catch from looking at yours. Play with your opacity, you're running over your low opacity strokes again and again giving it that ghostly/sloppy look thats common with digital. Also play with your size, its very easy to get flat very fast when you dont vary your stroke size.

I tried a few months back and my shitty internet wouldn't let me set up a proper server. It didn't work for the other anon itt either. The only server I could really set up is on flockmod but it's drawing tools are meh and people don't really feel like joining it.

If you or anyone else can set up a drawpile server and get it running I'm down to hop in and draw. Or maybe we could add a flockmod server to the sticky so people can randomly hop in if the drawpile thing doesn't pan out.

These words can't ring any truer. I well into 400 days myself, and honestly, I don't think if I took the plunge I'd be drawing at all. I'd probably be sitting on my ass still dwindling my thumbs hoping I magically improve. I went to a school for CG and I'm graduating this may, and within this 1 year of las, I've drawn far, far more than I ever have in my 4 and a semesters years worth of college combined. Probably my total combined hours in college is not even an 8th of half of my year in LAS. I am, without a doubt, in a much better place now because of it.

So all you guys worried you'll bog everyone else down because you're /beg/ or whatever, get the hell in here, and start putting tool to medium.

Man when I was little and in toys r us or EB games whenever id see one of the FF covers I'd just stare at it for minutes. It really was the logo art for the 1-10 games that got me into him, but I never actually looked into him until for one of my CG classes in college I was randomly assigned to research and present a power point about him, but once I looked him up I said to myself "I finally found him." He's one of my biggest inspirations.

There were a bunch of new memes/jokes being made, people would share whatever was going on in there day, what they were struggling with, art goals, motivation, etc. oh and the threads would always be active, it was nice to wake up in the morning and refresh the thread to see all the new posts, it'd brighten up my day a little.
