Something's broken, what do I do?

>The original developer of the site has taken a leave for quite a while, originally due to medical reasons. Progress on the site is almost non-existant at this point. You can try contacting him at @LavaFlake or emailing him at [email protected].

What do we draw?

>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.

What's a low effort warning?

>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.

>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.

What happens if I'm eliminated?

>Your streak will go back to 0 and you will have to start again. No other penalties.

How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?

>There is no week system anymore, instead new users are given "streaks" based on the number of consecutive days you can submit without getting eliminated. (token losses do not reset your streak)

Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?

>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

I have seen many of the best lassies get >10 views numerous times. The art of getting views isn't so simple as "being good." You have to submit at the perfect moment, if you submit too early than people will just get desensitized to your submission and only look at the thumbnail, thus you'll miss out on those scrumptious views. If you submit too late then people wont have enough time to look at your submission and you'll get no views. If you submit in the middle of the day it's possible that the submissions before and after yours have more eye catching thumbnails thus pulling lassies away from you submission. Submitting at the right time is a very difficult thing to do and it is only after a full 10 months here that I've deduced it to a fine science.

And say you do submit at the perfect moment, that will only give you a net sum of around 10 views which is nothing special. To really start pulling in views you have to spend a lot of time on perfecting your thumbnail. It must be composed perfectly as to lead the viewers eye into clicking on your submission. You have to dig into the minds of lassies and think about what they would want to see in a piece, I realized after 3 months that people here loved anime titties so that's why everyone of my thumbnails has titties on em. Another way to pull viewers in is to be mysterious and mark your submission nsfw, this works best if most of your stuff isn't nsfw, this will make the viewer curious and they'll fill the blank in with their own imagination, thus guaranteeing you views no matter how shit the submission is.

These are only some of the variables that one must take into account when discussing and accumulating views. So please do not spread such misinformation about views in my wife's son's thread again fucko.

Why do I still feel so alone in this struggle? I'm sure we've all experienced the same things
The times when we wonder if we should drop out and go back to drawing whenever the feeling arises
The times when we look at others and realize we should be drawing and studying more everyday
Those days when we draw a masterpiece in 2 hours
Those days when we spend 4 hours and it doesn't even look like 30 minutes
That feeling that I should drop out and focus on our careers
That feeling that if I stick with it art might someday be my career instead of my current job
Those times when our lives are so stressful and as it gets to 10pm and 11pm
Those times when it's 2am and you have that moment of shock whether you posted or not but when you check you're relieved that you did
Those times when it's 11pm and you realize you've drawn your thing but you haven't posted it yet
Those times when it's not actually 30 minutes of effort but it was all you could manage that day
Those times when you didn't actually draw at all, yesterday was a productive day and you drew enough for two days.
But you still feel guilty, you skipped a day and you know nobody will ever know
Those times when LAS is the greatest accomplishment you have, you stuck with something for over a year. you did that thing everyday without fail.

A common mistake is to show the mouth halfway between the bottom of the nose and the bottom of the chin. ideally Its actually the very bottom of the lips that's between those two points so the mouth should be closer to the nose. Other then that its got a lot of good stuff.

Its a widespread enough misconception that i've actually seen it incorrectly said in anatomy books before. It comes from the problem that if you have a receding jawline, which some pretty women have, it'll look closer to the middle but its always alittle closer to the top generally, faces have variation ofcourse but you'll have more human looking faces when you use the bottom of the lip rule as your base.

I want to point out a few things, First it was pretty big flop since i realized i have a difficult time rating those who are better than i. Second, i went through about 20-40 drawings per artist to feel out an average which means its entirely possible someone has been doing only practices for the last month and therefore will score lower. Third, if you don' t have at least 20-40 drawings in LAS yet your rating will be quite inaccurate. Fourth because its shit the only purpose it really serves to show vaguely where each artist would be in comparisons of skill, the most i could imagine is them being 1 tier higher or lower. Lastly, i may make another one in about a month to improve the accuracy of it.
