My name is [redacted] I work for Ididian Containment as a low level security officer. To pass the time I've been making these journals during shifts, little sketches of what I see here every night.

If you are reading this, something has happened to me...

Journal 5:
This one is a sweetie; despite is monstrous size (about 2 meters) Containment #58456 is really calm. So this thing is a vegetarian and usually just sits in a cornor most of the time during my shift. The company doesn’t even have him in the more high tech cells. Pretty dormant most of the time, I usually just feed him some cabbages from home.

No one knows how he’s floating though…

Eggheads upstairs said the found him in [redacted] just wandering the woods. Scarred a few campers, but the the SRC (Supernatural Response and Capture) were able to bring him in with very little hassle.

I think I’ll name this guy, Smiley.

Journal 6:
Today’s shift was pretty weird; I met the field leader/captain of the SRC (Supernatural Response and Capture), real silent badass type. Captain C. Montgomery Maul. All security was interviewed one by one (felt more like an interrogation to me) about our feelings towards the Contained and general feelings for the company. I was asked the questions by Human Resources Bill (whom interviewed me when I got the job) in a dark room; all this while Captain Maul stood in the corner; almost completely covered in darkness. I remembered enough of his features to draw my sketch, that cold stare and horrible scar being the stand outs. After my “interview” was over I asked Jim my supervisor about him. Jim (who’s been here 5-EVER btw) says he was here even before he started.
All he knows is rumors and gossip that are passed among the lower level security. Maul used to be a small town sheriff in [redacted], apparently had a rough life. Parents died of mysterious causes, always bullied in school, lost his wife 4 weeks after their wedding to [redacted]. Held down the sheriff gig for a while till a creature (later a Contained) wreaked havoc on the small town of [redacted]. This thing apparently was a level 5… An extinction level creature; Wiped out the whole town… save one man.

Journal 7:
Pretty boring day,while waiting of the eggheads to feed Contained #12445 I decided to sketch my supervisor Jim while he was doing some paperwork. Says he’s been here for about 24 years now. Seems to love it here and helping others understand the Containments more than anything; now that I think about it Ive never once heard him call them monsters or freaks like other personal. Jim [redacted] used to own a small animal sanctuary. The [redacted] animal Sanctuary came under fire after one of the employees was found having “relations” with the baby animals. They found one of the puppies [redacted] with its [redacted] in [redacted] in the corner of its [redacted] [redacted] . After [redacted] city council shut them down, Jim met with the founder of the Ididian Containment Corporation, Mr. [redacted] (I haven’t gotten the chance to meet him yet), he explained he wanted his expertise in taking care of some of the more unique “containments”. He’d lost everything, this was a fresh start.
The rest as they say is history.
Jim’s shift covers some of the higher level contained; but mostly involves training the newbies like me. He sometimes seems rather awkward around us other security guards, but seems really chill around even some of the scarier contained.
Man walks among the scariest sons of bitches on earth, doesn’t even think twice…
Guess he finally found his sanctuary…

Scientists had me cover this asshole with my company issued cattle prod while they fed it. Apparently they feed it every month a fresh pig (where are they getting all these pigs). Thing took a swipe at one of the eggheads when the pig got loose knocking him over; so I jabbed him in the (ribs?) with the prod. Contained #132 pinned me and was about to take me out of the fight for good.
Then out of freaking nowhere Jim comes in.
And I swear to GOD, no weapon, no nothing. Says “Jennifer, halt!.” Contained #132 stops its assault and cowers in the corner; scarred out of its mind.
Jim told me later he had special connection with contained #132 since it was brought in the same day he started.
The crazy part, he was completely in control, completely calm.
If I become half of what Jim is in my time here, it’s gonna be smooth sailing to a promotion, that’s for sure.

This thing is Contained #216.
Found around the country of [redacted] Contained #215 is actually the creature. The portal it is stuck in is Contained #216. Both have been categorized as Level 5 threats (5 being the highest) extinction level. Were the safe guards in place for contained #215 or 216 to fail, mankind is condemned to destruction.
In the year [redacted] the portal opened, it remained opened for 15 years. 2 creatures came out during this time. One was contained #12445 the other was eliminated by the SRC (Supernatural Response and Capture) due to [redacted] having [redacted] and needing [redacted]. All attempts to study contained #216 have failed as during this time all science personnel that approached the anomaly were driven mad before getting within 20 meters of it. (Which begs the question how they moved it here, I would think the building was built around it but this isnt the lowest floor.
It was during the 16th year the larger creature appeared and got stuck in the portal. The portal has widened exactly 3 meters in this time. However the maddening effects of the portal seem to have reduced. Contained #215 however must be kept heavily sedated, fully awake 215 can emit a low level sonic pulse, drawing organisms to it. Those affected by the trance will kill any and all in their way to (as best as the scientist can figure) “merge” with the contained. To date over [redacted] personnel have been merged to the creature. Once tranced the only known cure is euthanasia. To keep sedated, it is fed one pig (where the hell are they getting these things from) filled with 20 pounds of [redacted] hourly.
All attempts to communicate, or destroy the Contained have failed.

Guys are real bullies by the way; one of them kept pushing the shit out of me to get me down a hall faster.
Something I thought strange they almost never talk only to give basic instructions to each other; most of their communications were just hand signals and head motions. My theory is this must be a carry-over from working in the field (Cant imagine making a bunch of noise is helpful in catching contained in the wild)

WHAT. THE. HELL. IS. GOING. ON!?

Jim and I were checking on Contained #132; it’s been all bloated and crying lately. A far cry from the asshole that tried to kill my ass a few days ago; pretty sure it just ate one too many pigs… when out of F’in nowhere a bunch of the SRC (Supernatural Response and Capture) dudes come into the Containment unit and pistol whip the shit out of Jim. I tried to fight them off (4 on one is not a fair fight and then out of nowhere Captain C. Montgomery Maul grabs me by the throat and choke slams me.
“This is above your pay grade rookie, just remember we have rules at Ididian, and this little creepy fucker broke them in the worst way.”

After that they dragged Jim’s unconscious and bloody body away.

I sit there, licking my wounds, with only the moans of Containted #132 to fill the emptiness of the halls…
