>>
>>2799828
Why not make your own character, or draw some fanart of other characters. First you could do some simple things out of your imagination, like expressions.
Remember to think about storytelling when finding ideas, they don't have to be complicated stories, they could just be character doing household chores, strangling a bunny, going for a jog or even interacting with other characters.
You have ton of ideas but you aren't inspired by them, that is because you probably don't know where to start, sadly i can't help you there, you just have to improvise and experiment like all the other artists,
Good luck! i love those poses.

Art in general?

I used to have fun drawing a long time ago and I think I force myself to draw because I want to recapture that feeling, even if I hate the outcome all the time. I also have a world of characters and it's really my only way to visualize them. I'd love to get good enough to have fun again but my work schedule is volatile as hell and I can't really make/stick to a proper schedule to practice beyond trying to squeeze in time here and there, and I'd rather that be "fun" stylized drawings than grinding fundamentals.

I do still have fun with pixel art though. Not really sure why, since it's much more monotonous.
>>
>>2800284

I'm not the that good at red lining, but what i'm trying to say is that try keep the nose on the center line and the face symmetrical even when in perspective.
I would recommend to study some skulls.
>>
>>2800472
Well... I can see what you were going for, it diverges a bit from what I wanted ;_; But this hints at a needed revision. At any rate, thanks, really! Maybe one of the problems is the face doesn't fully convey where all of the lines should be drawn, and that's my fault. idk if I can always convey that, but I'll try harder next time. Cheers, m8~

This clearly hit's "stylization" and imo I like right for anatomic correction, but left is clearly better for animu. There's a reason animu doesn't always conform to fundamentals one to one, it's a cartoon regardless of cultural origin.

If that anon wasn't drawing something that "kawaii", then I'd go with right.
>>
>>2800577
you have two ways:
- internal: you make it enjoyable by making your fundamental exercises part of something you like (an illustration, etc)
- external: you reward yourself for your exercises. let's say you enjoy fapping to anime. then you do it only after 1 hour fundamentals work session. done your perspective exercise? bam have a fap.
soon your brain associates the pleasure to the work.

the second one looks a little off in the eyes. I cant tell the expression youre going for, she looks like someone made a bad joke and she doesnt know how to react. but its a sketch, so well see where it goes.

drawing everyday will help from a minuscule amount to reaching milestones. it helps when you have a specific goal within it. good luck. ignore the other loser.

The hand is also placed on the wrong side of the arm and physically impossible. The and has to be placed on the inner side of the arm on the crook of the arm not on the elbow.
I dare you to try to place your hand like that, it's not only difficult but you will also notice that your index finger is not on top but the small one. (Pic related)
Pose yourself before you draw something if you are not sure.

Emulate. If >>2802096 is you then at this point it's just knowing how to use your medium. Look up step by steps and coloring tutorials that have a similar style to the one you want to have and then look up tutorials for the software you draw with. I've learned that half of digital art is just know what does what and getting the program to handle some of the finer details so you can focus on the bigger picture.

Don't give up, most if not all of the people we Idolize started off worse than us with less support.

Try 10 or 11.

The only thing to remember, is that the bigger the head/the fewer amount of heads you use for height, the cuter your character will look.

Right now, I'm still embarrassed to call these things my "works". My aim is to someday no longer need to get ashamed when I show others what I draw. And I spend 2 hours a day non-stop for that.

you could copy an architecture drawing and learn no perspective at all, do you understand that?

you don't learn fundamentals trought copying, but trought aplication from the ground up of those foundations/theory

not all copying exercices are useless, it depends on what kind of analysis and thinking you're doing, if you're just copying lines/shapes, you're only gonna train your skill to percieve and translate lines/shapes, which won't help you to draw anything that isn't on a picture already

What do you guys think?
>>

is that supposed to be radiant wukong? Cause it looks like a turd monkey.
>>
>>2804825
You're going about this the wrong way.

No amount of practice like this is going to get you anywhere when you're fundamentally doing it wrong.

You could take a car, and start trying to make one from scratch. But if you don't know shit about what's
under the hood then the best you're going to end up with is a wagon.

You are copying the lines and colors without understanding the meaning or even structure of them.
You might be getting marginal benefits to your line control and ability to copy.
But your brain might as well be clinically dead for all it's learning from this exercise.

like >>2804893 said,
you need to learn to construct. Right now you're copying on a pretty much line by line basis.
You need to learn HOW this person created this piece, not how to COPY the piece.

Once you know how to construct using anatomy, you can construct your own drawing from theirs,
and dissect how they actually drew this.

the point of studying other people's work is to LEARN.
You need to practice in a way that lets you proactively learn so that you can improve.

As an addendum:
Definitely go to the beginner thread.
You will get more relevant excercises, critique, and probably less flak.

You should also learn some proper sighting techniques,
which would make the accuracy of your using reference a lot better.
>>
>>2804911
wow, not the guy you replied to, but I find these videos extremely helpful, it's like a goldmine of drawing videos. Thanks so much man, funny how I never stumbled across these before. They are like those workshop dvd's that you buy, but geared towards anime. Are there any other similar channels like these online that you would recommend??
>>
>>2804825
I don't see what's so wrong about this piece. Are you guys trolling him?
>>
>>2804825
To give you a more positive take to this.

It looks bad because you put the original right above, but looking at the piece for what it is and considering we are all learning here, the bottom looks pretty coolio. You already did 50% more than most by adding a background, and getting the basics of rendering.

Hell, you even improved one of the girls who had wonky eyes in the original, though you fucked up the rest.

In short, I'd give it a 3/10, which means you can consider yourself a budding artist. Just read more and practice.

>>
>>2804825
Are you from /w/vector?

Your lines are consistent but needs bit cleanup
focus more on detail, style, and shape of individual parts but still assume everything is in 3D.

Start drawing without refs. If you find something off study it and fix those drawings it later.

I used to redraw my weeb sketchnote because I keep seeing errors as I get better.

>>2804332
coloring your work will eat a lot of your practice time when you could be focusing on much more important aspects like proportions and anatomy, detail and gesture. Start by drawing your own body or training your eye staring at whatever possible.
i really hope you're not using mouse for drawing.

Britty good proportions but the face is too small, everything looks too pushed together in tiny region. Might also wanna check the pelvis area again, the legs come out at a really weird angle, should be more spread apart. As it is now it kinda seems like the legs come out her vaginal area.

Fuck. I just noticed that, and you're right.
But leaving them alone uncolored makes me feel slightly irritated. Like when I forget to turn off the fan but only remembered it when I'm in the middle of the road, that kind of feeling.

Pic related is my current work for the day. It feels like each time I draw, the result is a hit or miss depending on what I decide to focus on. This time, I focused on body movement, which failed obviously.

It might help to use guidelines for eye/nose/mouth placements. Your line weight is pretty nice, but the proportions are off, especially in that bottom right.

>>2805422
Actually really fond of this, your sketch looks pretty good so far. The angle looks slightly off, though, maybe move her torso over to the left and increasue the angle just slightly? It doesn't quite match with the directions of her hips. Overall looks pretty nice though.
>>
>>2801161
The hand is too small. Remember that the hand usually is big enough to cover your face.
>>
>>2801161

The hand on the left (it would be her right hand) is slightly too big. I would also suggest maybe lowering that left elbow a little bit, as arms that go against the side of the body have the elbows line up with the navel. For women, the waist also lines up with the elbows.
>>
>>2805637
The only time the hands would grow big like that is when the arms are outstretched very close to the viewer and I don't think that's what you're trying to do here. Interesting color choice though.

Woahhhhh dude 6 AP courses????? Nobody's taken six gen ed classes before, your mind must be like a supercomputer or something because that's impossible. Oh you're Asian American? That must explain why you're able to handle basic coursework in no particular field whatsoever.

At any rate, the design is cute but the execution is not very good. It reeks of symbol drawing and the silhouette of the chest is incredibly bizarre. It's difficult to tell what's supposed to be going on. Unironically recommend Loomis, check him out.
>>
>>2805712
AP classes are not gen ed classes
>>
>>2805712
Aight b0ss, that was good advice and all, but I already know how loomis works man, I actually wanted specific corrections on my silhouette (like what this guy did >>2805630 )
I understand symbol drawing is usually bad, but with this being the stylization thread I think that is somewhat of a moot point. I'm somewhat okay with high amounts of realism in backgrounds but I don't want my style in my figures to be lost when chasing realism. Btw thanks for the jealous comment, it give my brain more strength.

Symbol drawing is not a moot point in a stylization thread. Stylization is about bending the rules, not ignoring them. Having unconventional proportions and such via construction is great, but your drawing looks flat, as if it were sort of half-assedly traced from another image because it specifically does not do that. That's what symbol drawing means. Redo Loomis, since you didn't get it before

Also tfw you take so many AP classes your intelligence spikes past the point where you can no longer grasp mere 3d forms in drawing and can only understand ten-dimensional hyperspace and the American Government and Politics exam

Her fingers are way to long compared to that hand. On the left side the breast seems to merge with the shoulder, and the right one seems WAY smaller than the left.
Right now the head also seems to be on the right half of the torso. Additionally the face just just seems wrong. Maybe because the outline of the face indicates that the face is turned really far all the while the eyes look only slightly tilted. Maybe make the face smaller and adjust the cheek. Im really not sure about the arm length, on the right arm the perspective seems ambiguous. And additionally her hip should be wider because as it stands her shoulders are broader than her hip and that should not be the case.

Lastly I'm just a noob myself so take everything with a grain of salt. The mistakes I pointed out should be alright but how you can fix them is still very vague. The directions I gave (left and right) are all seen from our point of view. Sry that's all I can do.
