Post your current drawing here and give constructive critique to others!
Please make sure your posted image is clear, DOWNSIZED TO AROUND 1000 PIXELS WIDE, ROTATED TO THE CORRECT ORIENTATION, and that any unused space is cropped.
If you want critique on a drawing from the previous thread, you can delete it there and repost in this one and then hug a kitten for good luck.

LEGO Girl by Chunbum Park
The Dance of Two Tigresses
by Chunbum Park
>>2662979
is this you trying to be like that guy that gave you half a tube of white oil paint so you'd leave him alone?
this girl works at the coffee shop and she wanted me to draw her before she left for college
what a beautiful start to such a beautiful thread
>>2662996
im sure you're raking in grands off these. they're absolutely stunning and so bad at the same time. im so conflicted between how terrible they look and how awful a job you did painting them
also drew this girl today
>>2663001
Umm I thought you were supposed to be the nice guy, and I was supposed to be the rude guy. Guess not.
Why don't you try making actual finished pieces rather than sketches and studies?
You couldn't hide your distaste for my art through your double speak, which you repeat in this thread like the last thread. I just want to remind you that you sound exactly like a con artist, and the way you use such conflicting language suggests something is wrong with some aspect of some faculty.
And no, Shin KwangHo is a very good friend of mine. He tells me advice on how to paint all the time.
>>2663003
I'd say leave while you still can. This isn't a board for real art, it's a board for shitty sketches.
>>2663003
*literally shits his pants reading your post because its so thoughtful and artistic. tender and sexual like a black pussy*
>>2663006
>I just wish you'd move away from these sketches and get into some real large-scale paintings.
find me some damn models and id gladly do that
>>2663012
>I didn't understand single word of this, weirdo.
cum in my mouth
>>2663013
Do it from imagination, dude. You did plenty of direct observation studies and sketches. It's time to move on to do some big pieces. Dream big.
I know you are not going to take my advice. You are going to be rude and try to be a non-stop mockingbird that you think you are.
>>2663019
You are a reasonable person. People like you are worth my time. Not that idiot.
>>2663023
daddy
>>2663038
Of course they do. Like I said these are very good sketches. But it's time to move onto large scale paintings, I think. He can more than do it. What's his name - Bryan?
-Chunbum
>>2663041
Thanks chun ;) you can call my bryan
>>2663048
np Bryan
Pausing on this to get some feedback before I dump too much time into it.
Please fuck me up, senpais.
>>2663091
Before anyone says anything the two pillars in the right area in the blue are supposed to be a form of sea stack that I havent gotten to yet.
>>2663091
It seems that you are looking upward from below for the nearby foliage, but you are looking below from above for the distant sea stacks.
>>2663091

not really. i'll give it a fix in a bit here. gotta get creative with my lasso tool. Thank you for pointing it out.
I'm trying to get over my fear of finishing something, I know this is really sloppy but I feel so much anxiety, any help for getting over this?
also the white stuff apart of my thumbnail on another layer underneath.
having incredible trouble with anything provocative
maybe i've been looking at stagnant model photos for too long and picked up the static poses
fuck my life
>>2663294
So nice and thick.
>>2663294
lad. we're drawing a character for the same person.
>>2663311
The wings are curvy and smooth but face is angular and sharp. Composition wise it's not working
>>2663302
can I see your character? :>
>>2663315
He's doing a study of Thayer, it's not his composition
>>2663012
>What did I tell you? I am a tiger. I don't leave. I stay and fight to the last duel.
???????
>>2663325
Yea well he could do a better job at studying it.
>>2663311
The face is not well measured
Also the hand is not very good either, missing the shadows that help a ton with the composition
The thing about angles and curves the other anon said is retarded. Why would wings made of feathers have anything in common with a jaw, when the artist intended for you to focus on the face? Telling someone else to study better without comprehending basic composition techniques of using textures and edges to guide the eye
>>2663370
i tried to go back to september of last year to prove that i've gotten better but turns out i've just always been good :/
>>2663376

Stop being afraid of mistakes, anon, how will you learn if you don't make any? Whether it comes out good or not, at least you learned something. Also, the reason you feel that way is because you've refined your artistic eye and your skill hasn't caught up with it yet. Good luck, can't wait to see your progress.
>>2663292
Literally no idea what this is or where you're trying to go with it. Oh god help
>>2663041
They really aren't
he relies on observation not construction which is going make creative work a living hell.
ontop of it his observational skills are very half assed.
Last his ego is so huge that he lacks the drive to push into being decent since he thinks hes already there.

thought it would be worth sharing
made some notes about how to make tools to suport your process to work with perspective
the last tool is really derpy trought
>>2663754
There's a free program by Epic called Carapace and you can set up grids in mere seconds. Thank you for your notes, please do so again if you come across something neat like this, I appreciate it.

I know that tripfag personally, hes an actual wetback. I wouldnt say it if he wasnt, 'm8'
Trying to get more comfortable with painting.
This could use more color variation and some stronger bone structures. Not the most interesting, but overall I feel pretty good about this piece since it was from imagination.
What do you guys think?
I don't know what I'm doing at this point but I have to finish this for the sake of finishing something.

>>2664484
not him but its very anime styled, so probably on purpose
>>2664605
I don't see japanese people drawing pig noses and man jaws on girls, so you're wrong.
>>2664607
Japanese people draw girls with pointy noses that are tall and narrow in shape of a triangle - that's genetically impossible for Asians but frequent among whites.
Also eyes that are not black or brown but blue, pink, purple, etc. Hair color that are not black but also brunette and blonde. Skin color 99.99% of time pale white.
So I am right.
>>2663423
>they arent a strong suit
That's the reason you should
>>2664369
Is she supposed to be a giant? she looks like a giant
>>2664475
Firez you have such an aesthetic eye but very basic things are ever so slightly askew. It kills me.
The eyes are not on the right axis, and the upper lapel is very uneven, which is a little detracting. I would also darken those nostrils, if it were me.
But seriously man youre artwork is always the bomb. I hope we get to see more traditional stuff from you!
>>2664484
Maybe it's the way I was holding it with my hand, I think here it looks slightly more proper.
In any acase, I will try to fix it later by erasing some of the top and darkening values. Thanks.
>>2664543
Thank you anon <3
>>2664581
Yes, I guess that had an effect too.My aim with this was to render as much as possible from memory
>>2664637
Could you be nore specific about the eyes issue?
I really tried to take my time with the construction and landmarks of each feature :S
Thanks a lot for your comment and encouragement, I hope to get it less wrong next time

what do you mean? how does that alter the size of her head?
>>2664666
ayy checked
as you can tell by my typing, not the anon you replied to but
line weight is easily one of the most overlooked fundamentals out there
Line quality, complemented with shading, helps modify our perception of the "3D Illusion". Quite difficult to explain, but just one of the many subtle things that can change an art piece dramatically.
>>2664693
ah okay, so the idea would be to make the top of her head recede in space a bit more?
>>2664628
yes supposed to be sitting on top of that house so yes, she is.
>>2663091
you have no focal point, edges need to be cleaned up ofc. thumbnail reads fine enough
I'm trying to stay calm but I'm feeling fucking frustrated.
I don't know what the hands should be doing, I feel like this shit is all over the place. I've been working and puttering at this for like the last forever and I haven't done anything. Please help me...
>>2662975
Quick portrait of Trump-sama.
>>2664928
Nice job on making him look like he has Down syndrome.
>>2664920
We all feel like that at times, especially when we're starting to really put things together in a painting. Listen to interviews of other artists and most will say their first couple of works took them like two months (kek) and my first seriously took me like 3 weeks. But it's all about jumping in and churning it out, your next painting will be faster and smoother to make, I guarantee. The hands, just Google "dynamic pose" or photobash them if you really can't do it. The hands don't look essential to the piece so they don't really need to express anything. Also I see a bunch of little white spots, that may be because you might have it in a low DPI. What program are you using? Remember the proportions hands are relative to the head.
>>2664920
Start by getting rid of those white spots, it's way too confusing. Are you using layers properly? It looks like you used the paint bucket tool on the wrong layer. If you're lost, look at the thumbnail more often, it should help you see what doesn't work. Right now the silhouette doesn't read at all but that can be fixed.
>>2664928
This is fucking hilarious.
>>2665090
What is going on with his right leg? Looks very one dimensional.

The brush you're using for the highlights on the trees feels cheap and I think you could push the values on the left treeline a bit more. Also is there supposed to be a path through the flowers? If so, I would really work on making it clearer.
>>2665238
literally google that image and it will come up as man
im not kidding, this is in incognito search with all my history cleared
Hi, everyone, last night I started this drawing and it doesn't seem right. Is it the skirt? I'm not used to draw anime figures so maybe I did the head a little big? Proportions are weird in this thing
@2665270 (You)
dont worry anon i support your rights to :)
>>2665272
>it doesn't seem right. Is it the skirt?
Sort of. It's mainly the handless arm, not because it's handless but because:
Why is it posed like that?
The gesture of the legs and the her skirt shows that she's obviously in midair after a jump, but the handless arm is just like it's laying on something..., flat?
Also, wheres the rest of her jaw?, and work on feet. The one on the extended leg is broken, too acute of an angle.
Proportions for the body are okay for a stylised character.
>>2663311
wing in the background has no depth and while it looks like its made of feathers, the other looks like its made of porcelain, you should decide between these 2 looks, personally id go with the porcelain
>>2665296
I really don't know, the model was a friend of mine, she was standing like that. With her arm facing the opposite direction, really unconfortable, but whatever.
Ok, boss, I will try on fix them. What do you mean by the rest of her jaw?
>>2665321
you forgotten to darken some lines
fma was pretty good.
>>2665325
Oh, yes, I know, it's not ready, I stopped because I find some things really weird, I thought I could fix them digitally, but then I prefered to do it again
>>2664036
This has potential, maybe you could give more attention to the corpse they're eating and the monster at the lower right
>>2663399
The shadows are way to dark on the face, especially by the nose.
Drawing in oilpastels. Left eye got a bit fucked up, but mostly practicing with colours.
>>2665388
What are you talking about? It's brilliant.
Don't think too much about the background! Ref is obviously from Overwatch.
>>2665084
Thx breh.
Trump Pence 2016.
>>2665397
back to beginners.
>>2665388
Really nice practice, yet hue is way too yellow. There's some really neat things happening around outer edge of left eye, unfortunately overall form is stretched and flat. Seems like eyes and forehead are on different plane than nose, mouth and jaw. Those grooves around mouth are quite dangerous too. But do more and practice.
Strugling to escape uncanny valley here.
>>2665415
The look weird because you are too focused on a construction and not enough on reality. A construction is not an end in itself, but rather a tool to understand and simplify reality.
Find some photos of people and correct things. You have lots of small proportion errors, lighting errors, structural errors etc that are making these look unnatural.
>>2665415
for the middle one, the upper part of the head is way too big, and the shading makes the eye sockets look way too deep.
For the one on the right, the eyes are not aligned with the rest of the head, and the right side of the head (right side from the characters perspective) sticks too far out.
>>2665426
To add to this, the brow ridges just look really weird, look at a photograph.
>>2665388
Blog? This looks awesome.
>>2665325
Here, is it fine?
>>2665388
>>2665397
Thank you
>>2665404
Yea I realised there was something really off with the face but couldn't put my finger on it. Too bad it's oil pastels, so can't do anything about the feature placements.
>>2665454
Thank you, and don't have anything so far, but I'll probably take my time and try to set something up soon.
And yea, I'm not really sure if I made it worse or better now desu, just tried to make it a bit less flat.
>>2665457
cute. however, feet look weird; like flippers
>>2665463

Idk wtf I'm doing
>>2665464
Alright, I'll fix them right now, thank you
HALP. I've stared at this long enough, I've been changing things for ages since I started some time ago. Is there anything that's still fundamentally wrong with it?
If so, please let me know. If not, let me know too, I want to render the fucking thing.
>>2665495
It looks fine for a sketch to start painting. You're working digital anyways so you can fix small (or major) things later in the process if you need to. Move on the blocking in your general palette and lighting.
>>2665009
wtf man, is this satire?
Is the perspective right on this, I need some insight into how I might improve the form.
If you don't mind.
>>2665552
>its massive and rotated
Oh for fuck sake sorry, I'm on phone I don't know how to fix that.
>>2664369
consider the light source to her face/i like the perspective u choose.
>>2665521
R-really? so I'm finally free? Thank you anon, I was so nervous about something now giving me troubles later, since my initial sketch was already giving me trouble now. Weeks worth of trouble.
I swear to god I'll go turbo on this now to make up for the time spent, I'll power-paint this and enjoy it.
>>2665388
>The shadows are way to dark on the face, especially by the nose.
Light's coming from upper left behind her, no direct lighting so I lit her up a bit, actually.

>>2665747
Great figure and proportions. I like the way you simplify muscles. The ear looks a little unnatural though as if it is trying to get away from her hair and severely lacks in volume (too thin) great drawing so far though, dude.
>>2665758
She can be holding onto what she's sitting on for stability or she can have her hand to her chest to strengthen the expression. Looking cute btw!

Looks like you wanted to draw a bird but your lack of knowledge couldn't see it through so you got frustrated and made some shitty monstrosity, and then rendered the fuck out of it to justify the previous 3 hours spent toiling.
>>2665833
wouldn't now be the perfect time to grab some reference and make something out of it?
>>2665399
You made her look like an anorexic man. For starters you need some line weight variance and to knock out excessive lines altogether. Not every crevice of the face is of equal importance and thus you shouldn't use lines of equal thickness to define them.
>>2665086
>/ic/ is more than one person
Just finished the line
gonna start painting it tomorrow or something.

you think that because all those who do post while associating with people are these levels of retards.
pretty skilled people who also happen to be poltards would probably never say it in case it might wreck their career in the future.
>>2666482
Na, like 99% of posts from/on there have the mental maturity of a middleschooler
My first attempt at painting anything in many years.
I tried limiting my time to only 3 hours, I can't get it to look as good as other people's '3 hours'. What can I do to improve it further /ic/ ? what should I focus on? should I give it more softness in edges so it looks like those sketchy quicky kind of paintings ? ( I generally avoid it nowadays since people seems to overuse it)
>>2666528
Looks pretty good to be honest. The face looks nearly finished, just needs another render pass getting a bit more edge variation and subtleties in there. The rest of the painting looks too sloppy though to be considered finished. The brushwork and edges on the sleeves and background look very unfinished. Don't worry about time, just finish it all to a nice level. You can also post your ref if you want more specific feedback.
>>2666485
well, you can have a civilized discussion if you want, but that also means not to post facebook-tier retarded memes.
What you're doing is just virtue-signalling "oh a retarded nazi, let's show how tolerant and smarter i am" using a strawman.
To help you, it's like when pol takes a retarded hill-shill to show "how gullible are people who trust MSM"
>>2666535
thanks, it's the unfinished look really. I'm having a hard time between finishing a piece and being a perfectionist so I tried limiting the time. Works like those of wangjie li baffle me.
>>2666544
Guys who specialize in brushwork like Wangjie or Jaime or whoever always put so much thought and care into EVERY brushstroke, even if it is done at the beginning. You have a lot of scribbly strokes or "placeholder" ones that you will need to later go over and fix. Slow down and get every stroke beautiful from the start if that is your goal. Ironically working at a slower pace speeds up the entire process overall since you get things correct instead of needing to rework it constantly. I saw a demo by Mitch Mohrhauser once and he was so anal about every stroke even in the initial block in which would mostly be covered up later. He would hit ctrl+z a few times after each stroke until he got it right, and worked rather slowly. This is the sort of mentality you need. Sargent would apparently take up to a couple minutes between every brushstroke as he thought it out perfectly before quickly executing it.
Having a time limit will likely only stress you to try to paint faster and will result in less thought behind each mark. I think instead if you did some exercise that forced you to slow down you would get better results. Maybe only allow yourself to do one brushstroke every 5 seconds. This will stop you from putting down meaningless marks or edges and stop any "licking" of the painting.
You can also alternate between doing mastercopies of people who are good at brushwork and doing studies of photos or from life to apply that knowledge.
>>2666291
When I talk about the silhouette I'm talking about the entire thing. I 'm pretty sure the brown stuff is going to disappear entirely when you remove the white pixels and it's kinda messy anyway.
>>2666577
>yeah, Mitch's obsession over brush strokes really shows in his early works. You are right, I should force a certain flow and structures from the beginning with every stroke ( easier said than done though) . I did this one with more time and was being more careful with strokes, but it really took me long.
I don't like the concept of trying to paint as fast as you can. But lately, seeing all of my colleagues improved makes me jealous and insecure...
>>2666602

>>2666602
>that ear
Work on your construction some more
>>2666605
yeah it's small and too low, probably gonna erase it later. I have a bad habit of too lazy to find ref
>>2666602
Speed comes with experience, not by rushing or trying to paint faster. Whenever I become insecure about things I reread the Mullins Sijun pdf and hammer into my head the importance of good drawing and values and getting all the shapes correct. Get the core of the thing and don't worry about superficial bullshit like how long it took.
>>2666602
You go into the details of the face too soon. The edge between hair and background should have been fixed by now and the background is too uniform. Your brushwork is going to be great though if you manage to get out of the bad habits.
working on this. trying to burn through all this acrylic paint i have
>>2665495
the right pauldron looks shorter so his whole arm looks shorter. I think you should sketch with thin lines (or clean it up after at least), it'll save you a lot of troubles regarding proportion later when you paint

>>2666727

i just dont retain any information from drawings ive done in the past. i have a really bad memory. i can draw a hand crudely from my head but i can't get into the specifics like you guys can. im just not wired for it. trust me ive tried. i dont really care anymore though i just like making paintings.
>>2666723
quite a nobody really, I only get to post occasionally, the government blocks 4chan and I'm too lazy to try proxy. Whenever I get a chance, I come here to ask for crits and help people out.
/ic/ once told me that I'm just a photocopy and switching to anime ain't gonna save my soul. Knocked some sense into me really. /ic/ isn't half bad as you guys always say.
>pic related. it's the first one I posted. With some practice, love and depression, I'm sure there is a chance for most of us.
>>2666783
you're just not trying, countless anons have critiqued you, and there's sticky and artbook thread that you clearly don't bother going through. If being mediocre is how you want to remain, go ahead - but dont blame it on anything other than your own laziness.
>>2666789
im not an illustrator im a fine artist. i dont have the skillset to do illustration. everything im capable of is exactly what im capable of. there's no superhuman talent or natural ability everything i can do is because i practiced to be able to do it.
im not mediocre. i work harder than anyone on this board. someone like me only comes around once every few hundred years so get used to seeing my stuff. the art i make is more human than anyone else who has ever posted here. I'm the most relatable artist alive today.
>>2666805
if any of you starting working as hard as i work within a year you'd be selling paintings. i've been doing this for 5 years and have nothing to show for it because it's hard to market something as simple as what i make. so you guys can keep being lazy and get away with it and make a living, but come on. you guys have heard this story before. you know whats gonna happen when i die.
>>2666811
Your paintings are not bad. They are good. Can you show us more of your stuff? How many hours do you paint a day?
You are not Bryan by any chance? He dates his works in similar fashion
>>2666814
He plays with color pretty aggressively
It's nothing to laugh at. Post your work.
>>2666818
I don't care how good he is. It's hard to compare my work to his since I so representational shit but let's say he is better than me. He is way way better than me right? I would still fucking laugh at him for being so far up his own ass.
>I'm the hardest working person on /ic/
>people like me are only born once every hundred years
>my work will be everywhere once I die
How can you possibly be defending this faggot desu
>>2666824
So a guy is literally no competition to you, will probably only be famous when he's dead... And this upsets you why?
>>2666805
>>2666811
>bu-but i dont need to improve/leave comfort zone because muh style
>not mediocre
>something like me comes around once every few hundred years
>working hard
What are you working hard at? Drawing/painting the same things in the same style for years on end? You're clearly not studying or actually finding what works when you experiment to improve your overall portfolio. You also refuse critique on the basis of muh style
What are you? A pretty mediocre artist, there are probably millions of you's around the world - expect a good amount of them dont have the same ego. Do you actually want to sell your work? Have you put together gallery shows? Have you created a coherent portfolio?
In the end you are your own worst enemy, and as much as you like to pretend as if you can't/don't need to get any better because it might hurt your fee-fee's -- you need to get away from that to see any real improvement not only in your work but in how other people view your work and you.
>>2666830
Or rather how did I mess up the proportions. It's made from this illustration.
>>2666834
His understanding of anatomy sucks, I know, but he plays around with this weakness pretty well via method of abstraction of form and colors. His colors are his strongest point. Colors are not just something you learn. It's instinct. Some people have it some people don't. He has some kind of instinct with colors that is pretty good. He's nothing to laugh at.
>>2666622
pretty cool colours.
>>2666841
People don't laugh at his work, they laugh at his ineptitude paired with his chauvinistic view of himself. His work isn't terrible but it's pretty subpar; and while you think he's mastered color, he still has a long way to go especially in regards to color interacting with light. But he just won't accept that, and keep on doing the same thing he's been doing for years and cry when someone points out that he could be better if he actually tried
>and by he I mean you, brian
>>2666835
Bear with me, I'm not a native English speaker and by all mean I don't get proper education in art.
There are... a lot problems, anatomy, value, form, edges. So much that I think it's best that you read loomis and other stuffs from the sticky.
However, I think your problem is that you look at proportion as a sort of mathematical thing, like a distance between points. In my experience, proportion is a relative thing, and it's very much dependable on form, shape and value. Meaning as I shown here, you have to feel and understand the form and the shape of the object and try to describe it, using both god lines and value, not just measurement. It doesn't have to be exact, but it'd better describe your subject well.

Alright, thanks alot. And yea, it actually is a Loomis drawing. What is it that you think is bad with the edges? Also, I polished the turd.
>>2666880
Hey, maybe you should read alla prima by richard schmid, he talks about some nice insight on edge.
Erm, I don't mean to advertise my own work, but I'm sleepy, and my art folder is not organised, so I'll just use my work here.
so when two shapes are vastly different from each other in term of contrast (either created by light and shadow, or roundness and hardness) they create sharp edges, same for soft edges. By knowing where to use soft or sharp ones ( in my case, the eye lid and the nostrils are sharp) you will be able to better describe the form of the subject (soft round, or hard and... edgy ?) , which condition of light is it in... etc.
plus you can create nice effects too, but that is kinda irrelevant here.
>>2666892
example of said effects
again, these kind of effects are not what you should focus on right now, so yeah, for fun.
>>2666892

is there a way to download all of these books you guys recommend? some of them aren't on the book thread. I was recommended to read alla prima by some other anons but they're really costly.

>>2666727
His stance looks weird and unbalanced. I know another anon tried to help you fix it, but you ignored them. Other than that I really like the concept and lineart.
Bryan, you should join Lux Pulchra Artists on Facebook. You are more than good enough to join.
>>2667001
Yeah i saw their response, I plan to draw this again and fix those issues along with giving it a more dynamic pose, and a more cartoonish style. So hopefully that one will solve most of the issues this had.
>>2667081
ive got about 750 drawings and about 300 paintings on my facebook, and i dont even post everything i do on there. who's to say after all that that MAYBE just maybe i know what I'm doing now. Maybe i didn't before, but maybe i do now. maybe, anon. just maybe.
>>2667088
And I've painted for 20-40 hours a week this month
You aren't special dude :{
>>2667090
but you wouldn't say you know what you're doing? you make it sound like 40 hours a week isn't something you want to be doing, anon... you guys are so insecure it's embarrassing.

>>2667177
>It's not about what I want to do- it's about him realizing he's not working particularly harder than the people that take it serious
and this is according to you
>You do, but it might still be good to go take a few classes at a university or atelier.
im going to enroll at a state school where im moving to next spring. It's not completely art focused but it's a school with 20,000 people so if im on top of what im studying and dont go out partying like a depressed retard like the first time i tried college ( i was only there for a year) i should be able to find new models to paint and draw every day.
my facebook is briancomfortiart it's a lot of surprise surprise shitty practice pieces but i learned how to draw through a lot of banging my head at the wall and i think im where i need to be now.

>Www.mooffz.tumblr.com Senpai
you are exactly the kind of person i talk about when i say there are talented people here who haven't learned to be comfortable at applying what they already know.
think of it like this: The vastness of my potential is miniscule compared to most artists, which is why it was so easy for me to reach that potential at an earlier age than most artists.
I'm possibly the worst artist talent-wise on this board, but I am completely comfortable in my ability now and am done learning. I've learned everything I want to learn and am capable of learning, and now just want to start making art because it's fun.
Most people aren't like that. I'm an idiot. Most people aren't idiots.
>>2667204
I'm surrounded by people that literally have done nothing but drawing and chores with maybe 1 rest day every 1-2 weeks so I've been humbled by that kind of drive.
As hard as you work there is someone working harder
>>2667209
You can make art because it's fun but you're plateauing because you're comfortable with your level.
Not much here yet. Could use a second set of eyes on the structure of the sketch.
>>2667024
That's good. So is this for a game, or what?
fucking around with some new brushes, just a little sketch to test them out
any pointers would be helpful :)
>>2667263

draw from reference
don't rely on a brush thats meant to shorthand something you can't draw/paint normally
>>2667177
He's painting with traditional mediums. You, with digital. It takes more dedication and commitment to do with traditional medium. Plus it's more costly too to do traditionally.
>>2667204
I liked your page.
>>2667209
Your double speak again makes me think the opposite. Let me translate this for everyone -
"The vastness of my potential is extraordinary compared to most artists, which is why it was so easy or me to reach that potential at an earlier age than most artists. I'm possibly the greatest artist talent-wise on this board, AND I'm completely comfortable in my ability now and am done learning... Most people aren't like that. I'm the greatest. Most people ARE IDIOTS."
Now it makes more sense. Thank you Brian.
Dance of Two Tigresses revised, final
I love her eyes and nose
>>2667266
it was done with reference :(
>>2667274
medium has nothing to do with how hard someone is working senpai. He may spend 30 hours finishing his one traditional painting, sure. Someone else may spend 30 hours finishing 1-3 digital paintings.
Cost is also a moot point for "how hard someone is working" You can grind harder with digital because you aren't limited by canvases/paint/setup time/changing clothes/costs.
i have to be better then all you here just saying ;D

the most important thing is to nail the proportions, color and edges right. of course if it takes you a year to do so it's bad, but 3 hours seems arbitrary
>>2667658
>if it takes you a year to do so it's bad
Some of the most famous paintings of all time took a year or more to paint.
>>2666528
this is beautiful I love the lighter value range you decided to use. What made you make that decision?

this person here
I just found this ancient drawing I did on a deviantart page I forgot I made.
I guess I've improved a bit? any critiques for me please
>>2663423
Then u should only draw hands and feet. Who are you trying to impress?
>>2666737
>>2668031
These are very solid. The top one is great and quite interesting. The bottom two are a bit bland design-wise. I would try to get more variety and personality in them, just more kinds of shapes and materials, maybe have some sections that are either falling apart or have been repaired at some point, even having some objects like some stray buckets or rakes around and leaning on the walls, or a rooster on top would help a bit. The bottom right one is either on or next to a slope, so if you somehow integrate the architecture into the hill more it might be interesting.
Also just a tiny nitpick thing but when presenting these I would leave a bit more space around them. They are all tangent with the edges of the canvas and it feels very cramped and is somewhat distracting.
>>2667262
Nah just a character I came up with, was thinking of making a mini comic with him.

your thumbnail is pretty indecipherable. It looks like you started painting without a plan.
>Where's your focal point going to be?
>How does the rest of the painting accentuate your focal point?
>>2664036
I'm a fan of how you rendered the light.
The bottom right monster - the way you lit the side of the face facing the viewer, it looks like it's facing UPWARD as if his head is cocked to the right a little.
Maybe arrange the corpse so that you see a face or something. Or some other identifying traits
>>2664369
If the colors were somewhat realistic and it had a organized value system, this would be really solid
>>2664920
It seems like your ambitions are too far outside of your skill level. It's good to challenge yourself, but if you're spending too much time on it and you're getting frustrated, then slow it down and practice something simpler. Also, plan out your next piece better. You should already have a good idea of 'what the hands should be doing' when you start.
>>2665090
good style and decent rendering, where's the light coming from again?
