Something's broken, what do I do?

What do we draw?
>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.
What's a low effort warning?
>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.
>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.
What happens if I'm eliminated?
>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.
How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?
>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.
Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?
>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

how do you improve?
I'm looking at my submissions and its all literally the same shit level
the things I post aren't the only things I draw that day, I copy pictures and references
I also do the upside down thing once every two days or so
what am I doing wrong

I have a ton of issues, one mistake was trying to go all over the place and solving them
What I've been doing so far was copying references more slowly and taking time
But I haven't been doing the right side of the brain exercises as slow as my studies- it may be that.
When I started las, I often copy a ref or do an exercise and not really redo them
basically now I'm just restarting from lines
but yeah it's been less than a month since I started more seriously.

Slowing down is something that helps me. I tried to sketch too fast and got impatient, everything came out horrible. But obviously, study basic objects. Mostly cubes. Then perspective, anatomy, gestures, then go to color. Etc. Definitely study the cube tho.

just pay no mind, draw every day as usual, and try to join the challenges to get out of your comfort zone every so often
the streams are usually comfy too so if you want to stream just post where you'll be doing it in thread, usually picarto or pixiv(?)

You can't improve at a reasonable pace if you don't study smart as well as hard. Certain methods of study are much more efficient and effective than others.
There's a reason that many of the artistic masters in history were able to get to where they were, and that's because they had proper teaching as apprentices to other masters. They later became good enough to surpass their teachers and subsequently came up with new ways to study on their own, because they were above a level where a curriculum had yet to be created.
That isn't to say that you NEED a teacher, just that if you have someone who can expertly assess your skill level and problem areas and knows what you need to do that is guiding you, you wont have to worry about that aspect and focus purely on the work.
Most of us don't have a teacher, though, so we mostly fumble around in the dark hacking away until something works. I'd say make an effort to look into how the old masters studied, and proven methods and techniques used by them as well as by the most skilled artists in the field today.
Also reading up and learning how to learn and study in general will actually help you a lot too.
For now keep doing the best you can, but research when you have time. Good luck anon.

Really, I think people who've partially completed it should upload what they got anyway (so we can see how far you managed) and there should be a way to flag which ones completed the challenge and which ones didn't, maybe by the creator and/or fellow participants. That's complicated though and would have to wait for Lava to get back.

I might but there are some other challenges I have in mind, I wanna do a creative one before I do another technical one. The book I had in mind for the next one was Hogarths drapery book and Peter Han's dynamic bible. Another thing I was going to do is improve the huston challenge and let someone else run it. Since people had trouble keeping up with the workload I was thinking of splitting it into two or three parts so people can have a bit of a rest, I think about a week is a the best length for a challenge. If anyone has any feedback on the challenge or book requests I'd like to hear them

Agree with this. Also sites like CA or CGhub where people just obsessed over being featured rather than making good stuff that they themselves like, means you had a lot of artists turning to bashed mechs or busty anime girls to get that front page.
Learning, improvement and dedication should be rewarded, not largest number of views and (you)s, or rewarding people who were good at the start rather than the beginners and mid tier guys who are making serious progress.

unbalanced. The sketch in the corner is okay but the bigger drawing.. looks like theyre drunk and about to fall over but are trying real hard to seem sober. Its almost entirely the legs and feet i think, they should be more underneath them, play around with it youll figure it out. And yea pose is stiff, exaggerate and push the main angles, adjusting the angle of the hips and shoulders to be extreme and more importantly going in separate directions is a good place to start. Theres also the specifics of the pose that you are trying to do thatll really sell the pose. Id suggest looking at people in this pose, especially people exaggerating or being over the top or whatever, and try and understand what really makes that pose, the selling feature, what makes it interesting to look at. What about that kind of pose made you want to draw it. Itll help to look at several different refs which might help with identifying to the major features.

A useful thing to do especially in early stages of studying something because it means you can go back and see how your mood changes depending on what/how well you do each day or vice versa, and then plan for or work on improving those discrepancies.
