Working part-time and studying a masters, I know there are people here that probably have even less time and draw more but when Sunday swings around I just run out of fucks. I keep trying to change that but the eliminations prove it's a worthless battle.

Not him, but it's not cheating if you draw every day going by the GMT time zone. 00:00 GMT is 7p here, so I'd be perfectly justified drawing Saturday from 6:30p to 7p, submitting that, then continuing for more time in order to join Team Forza at 7:30p. In theory I wouldn't have to draw again until Monday at 6:30p, skipping my Sunday entirely. The end result is still drawing for at least half an hour per 24 hour cycle (in GMT) even if the cycle isn't aligned with your local timezone or your personal sleep schedule.

Guys, when did drawing click for you? What made it click? When did you feel "oh damn I'm having fun here creating the stuff I wanted to do, it's all going smoothly wow I could draw all day"?

I keep studying and drawing but I still don't feel as comfortable as I'd like it to be. If I compare to when I'd draw as a kid, back then I had fun and it never felt stressful.

Was it a specific book, study program, etc? Or did you wake up one day with a new fresh and exciting outlook all of a sudden? I feel like, while fundamentals and all that stuff matter a lot, in the end my current perspective and outlook on art matter as much if not more.

If you're not finding it fun or whatever, try to apply what you've been studying in a picture or whatever you're aiming to use your art for. I think seeing your work in a complete or even semi complete manner will make you feel better or at least let you see what you're currently capable of. Also lets you grasp the bigger picture of what you're studying.

If it makes you feel any better, I struggle with this everyday. I keep wondering why it seems like I'm forcing drawing so much, instead of having fun with it, like you say, like when I was a kid. The other day I managed to have a bit of fun drawing from imagination, i just got in bed with my sketchbook and drew stuff. The next morning I was back at the struggle. I have no idea why this happens, but it's the reason why drawing is so hard for me right now, if I could sit down and have fun drawing my ideas, I'm pretty sure I would be able to quit any other form of entertainment, make it professionally and use all the time I have on this earth to draw as much as I can, but alas, it doesn't seem to work that way for now. I've only just started feeling like this recently, and I started a year and a half ago. I wouldn't say that it all "clicks", but things really are starting to come together. I don't hate everything I draw anymore. It's an exciting feeling.

The main thing is that I don't feel lost anymore. I know how to learn now, and am more aware of what I need to improve on and what's necessary for me to do that. I can say that I'm now confident enough to draw pretty much anything.

That's because you weren't seriously trying to git gud. Now it's more of a job. Also kids get inspired super easily.

For me it was pretty much pure mileage improving my skill and building confidence over time. That and I'm now determined to become a comic artist so I'm working hard to reach that goal.

Make sure to just sketch shit for fun occasionally where you don't stress out about the quality. Come up with some characters and stories for fun. Remember why you love art in the first place. Look at work from your fave artists, watch movies, read books, listen to music, or go outside, whatever. Be inspired like you were as a kid.

Yeah, sorry, initially i wanted it to be just a quick sketch (like poon and anon313 do), but it just dragged on and on. Yesterday i rendered the bow on the hat, changed the hind leg of the rat from rough brush stroke to a proper leg with reflected light and rendered the tree limb some more, adding glowing moss and color variety in shadows (saturated purples and blues).
Thanks for pointing out though, i'll do my best to be much faster with the next piece and not be distracted by small details.

I feel like i'm on a verge of significant revelation in drawing, something to do with visualizing and thinking in 3d. This doesn't make sense. The only potentially "gay" artwork is what Jmgn and Saucy are doing, and they're using the nsfw thumbnails and if they don't you can report that. I can't imagine there's that much more implied gayness in any of the rest of the submissions that you need a tag to filter it out. If you're looking at people's anatomy studies and you find that gay then you have some issues.
