Post em, /his/torians

I'm not going to post my family tree, the reason being I have almost 4000 people on it. Here's a pic of the whole tree, though.
Oh yes, it's still being worked on.
>>26841
TL;DR?
I barely know anything about my ancestors, there are no documents or birth certificates of them so I can't go further in my timeline than my great-grandparents
>>26732
>>implying family history is political and not a historical subject
Why the fuck would you include political parties your family members support, then?
>>26911
Because it makes it a bit more interesting, lad.
Nineveh will be mine in 24 hours,
But really, I have no other recorded ancestors from other nations, I really want a DNA test to be sure.
>>26841
How far does this go back? Anything interesting?
The inevitable muh heritage shit that is destined to kill /his/
>>26972
Why? Family history is a historical subject. Look at mine (I'm OP). Do you really think I'm a full on /pol/ack?
>>27005
yes

The oldest man on the family tree (not direct ancestor, though) goes back to 1400 (my oldest direct male ancestor was born in 1823, but I'll be paying a visit to the archives to find his parents, soon). Everyone on the family tree is Slovene and most lived in the same region(s).
After making this chart in Gramps (a genealogy program) I was surprised to find all those wavy lines. They show that there has been a lot more intermarriage between my main ancestral families. Well, that's really not a surprise since genealogists believe all Slovenes are related 20 generations back.
Any other questions? I've been dabbling in family research for a few years now.
>>26647
Literally fuck off you boring cunt.
>>27073
Any really unusual things you've come across?
I only recently discovered my great great grandparents were Russian Jews, who anglicanised their surname when they moved to England, hence why I didn't know.
>>27130
Depends on what you find unusual. Literally five men in a row were named Janez (John), but that's pretty much Slovene tradition.
Also, one of my ancestors married a 14-year-old - that was the youngest person in my family tree to get married).
Also, I discovered that Maria Theresa was godmother to three children from one branch of one of the oldest families.
I wouldnt know all of this - and I most definitely wouldn't have 4000 pepople in my tree - if it wasn't for the fact that Slovenia's most famous genealogist is somehow related to me, so I had most work already done for me. I just have to do research on my direct ancestors.
>>27238
Nice. Slovenia sound inbred as fuck desu.
Does anyone know how I could find more about my Morrocan ancestors? Like I said, there are probably not any birth certificates or other documents I could find
>>27435
Senpai, there are two villages where most of the inhabitants are related to me.
20 generations is a lot, though. If you want to talk inbreeding, look at Iceland or any other smaller ethnic group, living on an isolated island.

>WE WUZ KINGZ
>>27480
True. It could be worse.
People make jokes about England being inbred but it's almost impossible considering the amount of people here. I say that, there is some inbreeding in the north I'm sure just because it's such a shitehole.

Actually, my mum did a few years back. Found out she was 1/4 Otomi and mostly some kind of European, probably Belgian.
>>27600
I was just joking. Since the jewish gene is spread matrilineally, you're not really Jewish.

I really hope that anon
My mothher says my great granfather was a jew
But he doesnt have i jewish last name and he shared his name with high ranking nazi officials and ss members so im not really sure, might just be a load of lies

>>28472
I look Russian, apparently. Got slightly tanned and darker skin from my mothers side
>>26841
There is literally nothing exceptionnal with having a famility tree that gets back to the middle ages or modern era.
What a legacy.
>>28359
Damn, that's some dark backstory you got there
>>29083
takes some time, a lot of digging through local archives to find administrative documents, plus oral history passed ithin the family.
My grandfather has been working on a complete genealogy of his family for a couple years, last time I checked he could trace it back to the late 1600 (though from 1600 to 1800 it's mostly just names and little informations)
>>29083
The trick is not being American :^)
I jest. As I've written in one of the posts above, I am related to my country's leading genealogist so most of the research into my family tree has already been done by him. It also helps that I have an aunt who knows all her cousins and distant relatives.
You can always start by simply googling names of your relatives and seeing if anything pops up. Other than that, talk to relatives and go perusing your country's (national or church) archives.
