Can someone tell me the truth about the kurds?
They seem like the only people in the middle east who cares about modern liberal values.(besides Israel) They also seem to treat christians, yazidis and different minorities etc better.
I know they are not perfect, but still, do I idealize them to much?

Kurds are just as bad as the other monkeys in the area. Constant infighting with a tiny veil of "liberalism" to garner support from western powers. Female genital mutilation is very common among kurds for example.
Posting here since theres to much /pol memes on /int.
Hope you guys can give me a balanced, intelligent answer.

That's only in Iraqi Kurdistan and even there is is declining. Stop pushing this meme.

I like cut girls. Sorry! It just looks better.
Assyrians have told me they treat them just as bad as the Sunni fanatics do. Their tolerance for minorities is just a show to get Western dibs.

The Kurds are anti-Turk. So I support them.

First of all, they're not a single entity and people should stop treating them as such. The Kurdish "language" is a meme since the "dialects" within it differ in having grammatical gender, cases, not to mention vocabulary. They're not mutually intelligible. They're about as much the same language as Swedish, Danish and Norwegian are. That's not even going into other languages like Zaza and Gorani which are also spoken but differ so much that nobody even thinks about lumping them together.
Then you have tribes that aren't even sure themselves whether they're Kurds. So with Laks in Iran you might have some dudes who think they're Kurds, some who think they're Lurs, and some who think they're their own thing. Same with Yezidis.
Then you have the political divisions.
The Turkish Kurds have PKK which is Marxist.
The Syrian Kurds have PYD that's a franchise of the PKK. It's supposedly more libertarian though. They control the YPG armed forces.
The Iraqi Kurds have KDP which is nationalistic yet tribalist. They're not anti-Turkish. They control the peshmerga.
Then you have the Iranian Kurds which have mostly kept quiet but have their own party PJAK which was supposedly started by PKK, but it's not sure.
The bad stuff you see mentioned here is mostly the Iraqi Kurds. But the YPG isn't totally clear, since they did participate in some expulsions of populations which have been called ethnic cleansing by some.
So yeah, it's a mess. And if/when they get a state they'll be at each other's throats in no time.

Genital mutilation is very common among kurdish immigrants and the homelands. Fuck off with your shilling of a different hue of turk.
Are kurds part of the mountain peoples that Persia and Alex always had trouble subduing?

>They seem like the only people in the middle east who cares about modern liberal values
The Kurds, as a people, absolutely don't give a shit about liberal values. They are a lot more traditional than any of their neighbors. Now, in the Western area of Kurdish inhabited lands, you do have strong left-wing political movements, such as the PKK or the PYD. They are not really liberal by current Western standards but they do advocate for sex equality and a separation between religion and political life. They are communalists with Marxist tendencies. The general Kurdish population, including in the area where those parties are strong, absolutely don't share their ideas on sex equality and religion.
But why do the kurds I meet here in Europe seem so liberal compared to other middle eastern groups?
They seem to not care much about religion. Some of the girls are even dating white guys.
What's rojava up to these days? It's an interesting experiment.
Also,
>extremely overrepresented in socialist and communist movements
>oppressed
>nationless
>bad relation with their host countries
Why isn't /pol/ sperging about kurds again?
