Ahhhh Shogun
Such a good book. What do you think of it?
A grab bag of stuff
I know Barbara Tuchman gets a lot of shit, but I've never read anything on the First World War before, so I thought it'd be a good place to begin

I have both Herodotus and Guns of August, definitely recommend both. I've been meaning to get into iron age europe. Is Celtic Myths and Legends a good starting point?

I think it is a solid starting point for Celtic mythology in general. However, it focuses on the myths more in the context of early to high middle ages, at the time when Irish as a literate language was at its peak. The deities themselves are based on the original celtic mythos, but it's not the same as the original Celts the Greeks and Romans knew.
However, the author gives a great introductory essay detailing the history of the Indo Europeans language, the Celtic peoples as a whole, and gives a nice explanation of the etymology of how legends changed over time (like Lugh Lamafada, "Lugh of the Long hand" who was a great craftsman and hero, became disjointed into "Leprechaun" )
