in an anthropology class in community college, the professor asked us if we thought there was sexual dimorphism in humans. myself being an enthusiastic albeit naive young lad raised my hand and declared "of course". Its actually not terribly high. Sexual dimorphism is the result of sexual, read: not fitness-based, selection. Throughout most of human history due to the insanely long generation period and the almost total lack of female choice, there's really been very little sexual selection.

In hyenas, because females rule, the penis became a symbol of submissiveness, that's why the females have a psuedopenis. Because they're aggressive as HELL, the subordinate females erect their psuedopenis to basically say "no im just a subordinate like this male here"
