What are some /his/ approved sources and documentaries to learn about this man and the time he lived in?
Preferably about the old regime, the revolution and the rise of Napoleon.

There is a pater bin with alot of good resources you might be able to find it in the archive.
I liked the Andrew Roberts biography pretty well but its not 10/10 histokino.
Learn French and read his complete letters desu, they are free on amazon kindle.
You really need a biography to totally understand his time though. You can't totally grasp the situation without understanding Arch-duke Charles, Francis I, and Alexander.
