I'm looking for books about weapons used in ww1. From air to earth to sea. Artillery and bayonets. Everything.
I found Machine-Guns and the Great War by Paul Cornish and it looks pretty good. Have any suggestions?

I suggest you look up the youtube channel Forgotten Weapons

He has a whole playlist just about ww1 stuff

it's amazing to think how they thought that they needed sights on the machinegun past 2km. apart from the theory of "volley fire", was it actually of any real use in the battlefield?

I did not. I read a lot of ww1 books but never got interested in armaments until now.
