If he was interested in the wellbeing of the poor, he'd be a socialist in modern times. For his time, maybe his teachings were good for the poor. They don't seem to have been good for the poor, though, only attractive to the poor.

No. Jesus said we should keep our property in common, but he didn't advocate a state or worker's party or union controlling it all, neither did he advocate any revolution to achieve this. He just gave it as moral guidance, that you should surrender all your property to those who need it.
