I've actually been working on unpacking the data.
The solution is not ideal, but it works. The content in the .unity3d files are called "AssetBundle"s, and can be loaded by projects other than the source.
This allows us to load the package and access the data. This is also where the bullshit begins.
The SoundClip type's data is stored as a series of float values, getting something playable out of that requires manually rebuilding the values into a sound file, currently using NAudio to achieve this. I imagine this applies to all the data in different ways. That is to say that the packed data isn't in a readily usable form.
If the sounds can be rebuilt, chances are everything can, with varying degrees of difficulty.
Would it be helpful to create a sample unity project to extract/repack translation files?

Well I'd say somewhat. SBPR is the result of them, considering the glaring mistakes that were made, having no gaming nor technical knowledge at all of big, open world in the last... 10 years or something and most likely of PC gaming overall in the last 15+ years. Welcome to Japan.
Secrossphere, if it was properly optimized, should run on something like a NVidia Shield maxed or close. It's so empty that even though it doesn't actually run poorly, it also has no business eating so much resources. I'd say that even with the shitty textures Honey Select has a rather balanced performance hit for Illusion's standards (and they're not pretty high).

The other issue is their release cycle. By seeking to release two or more games per year, it means that inevitably there are two or more different dev teams at Illusion. And they don't communicate much if not at all because some of the advancements done in a game don't carry to the following release. Bear with my English, but as an example, Honey select doesn't have the advances in censoring seen in Seccrosphere nor the near seamless position changes. Instead there are accordion dicks and blur between each animation because they don't actually link between each other.

It's both a positive and negative.
Having a fade transition allows the creation of more animations. The reason why is because you don't have to design a set of transition animations for each new position. Can you imagine how much work that would add.
On the downside, yeah, it's sometimes kinda hot seeing the girl being moved or "handled, so when that's not in there it feels disjointed.

Does anybody happen to know how to fix this framerate issue? im on a fairly decent PC and im still getting 20 fps or so. I recall AA2 has an issue with framerates with windows 10 but swaping out a DLL file fixed it.

Any idea how to remedy this? changing the graphical settings has zero effect.

AA2's problem could be fixed due to the reliance on a DirectX DLL. Unity's functionality is all hidden away in a VM.
However it still relies on DirectX as the next step, you could try replacing (make a backup!) your d3d9.dll with the patched version provided to fix AA2:

This works for DirectX enabled applications, that's true. However, the poster claimed that they had knowledge of the fix being applied to AA2, so I assumed that they had already tried to replicate the fix with Rinkan. With this information, I figured that the Unity VM doesn't look in the local directory for DX. After all, why would it? The actual DLLs are in a subdirectory, if anything they'd go there right? For those you'd probably need to rewrite the main game DLL since you'd be adding new functionality.
You wouldn't need to go as far as implementing a modding framework, that'd just be for debugging convenience.
But yeah, editing UnityEngine's sound class play method would allow you to invoke some globally visible subtitle class and show something onscreen. As of right now this is not a feature available in the game, so I imagine it isn't being done.
Making it happen is actually pretty easy, but I'm not sure if it's being worked on already.

If you want to be super slick about it, have the code lookup a string (soundclip.name) -> string (translation) dictionary stored externally whenever any soundclip is played. Pair that with some positioning (X, Y) and formatting (size, style) and you'll be able to differentiate between narration, moans, thoughts, etc.

Not difficult, but time consuming. Given that the translation environment I put together is apparently not being used I'm hesitant to work on this. We'll see if interest develops.
