This is actually quite pleasant.

Before anyone thinks I'm talking out of my ass, I did compulsory service in the Russian army. I was stationed on outposts near Chechnya, not near the dangerous parts, but still near enough to set you on edge.

We were always on edge at all times and moments we could put our guards down were few. A ball game with the guys or sitting down at night for a cup of instant coffee was a something we all looked into. Still our guns were always kept within an arms reach.

It's grim, but that's life. That image sets me back to those "good times". Sitting there, sipping shitty coffee laced with some shitty vodka, talking about our families and the girls we liked and how someone our age in Germany at that moment was probably going to the movies with his date while we sat there.

God, I'm creeped out, because I miss it somewhat.

I have zero attachment to my or any other country. I have never voted, dont even know my own national anthem, I honestly couldnt tell you who my own prime minister is. I dont care who my country has alleigences or grievences with, as long as it doesnt interfere with my personal life.

Of course I would PREFER if my home country was never invaded, but if it was, I'd be one of the first people getting the fuck out to another country, wouldnt even look back or give it a second thought. Luckily I am white and trilingual, and I manage very well in 3 more languages, so I can pretty much fit in in any other civilised country.
