What are my chances of getting a new crown that doesn't costs a fortune?
I think they were pretty popular once.
Pic related obviously. But not mine.

Crowns are relatively easy to replace with cheap generic ones. Can't say whether a watchmaker would do it for cheap though.

I think I know a place.
I just wasn't certain they'd be able to use a generic one.

Don't listen to the clinically retarded. If it has to be like $1000 you could try to swing a regular Seamaster in the $1000-1250 range. If not theres plenty of Seiko Divers that more than fit the bill like the new Turtle, Samurai's, Shogun, SBDC051 and regular SKX's that are fine.

>if you're a wine connoisseur it supposedly heats up the wine too much and changes the taste
Honestly, being a wine connoisseur sounds like complete bullshit. Virtually everything I've ever read on the subject seems to suggest that nobody can really tell the difference over midrange wine—it either tastes good or it doesn't.

Chronographs have a variety of uses beyond car racing. I use mine as an egg timer while cooking, a stop watch at horse races, and when I'm feeling mega autistic I can calculate my fuel consumption on long drives.

A "pilot's watch" I suppose could be useful if you're far sighted. A GMT movement could be useful not just for travel, but if you have friends who live in other time zones and want to make sure you aren't calling them at 3 in the morning.

Dress watches can get you a "welcome aboard" rather than a "we'll call you" at an interview.

This is my daily wear and has been for some years. Had I known cooler japanese models existed when I bought it I would have gotten the carbon fiber titanium version.

As it stands I have a hard time justifying its replacement with something "nicer" like the heavier dlc coated 5600 or the aforementioned titanium case back and carbon fiber straps one.

It has become part of me with all its scratches and wear. I love the 80's look, a homage to the first g-shock, while also looking like a shitter to everyone's eyes save for some g fags.

The same reason you pay an artist to create art to put on your walls rather than just printing pictures of the same art to use.
You can feel/see the quality. There is personality you can get through that you miss out on with the cheaper alternative. You can see and feel the care that has gone into it.
Practically speaking a tough solar digital like this >>62190451 is the perfect watch, it has its own personality but sometimes you want more from something. The sweeping second hand for instance is a pleasure to look at, so are the finishing of the metal, the aesthetic of the hands and marker and those kind of aspects make up for the lack of accuracy and increased cost.

Yes. I don't wear the Chronoscope often because the strap is pretty low quality leather and it would not last long during summer.

Very few straps outside of lite tan leather go well with it.

I legitimately might buy one of those if I like it in person.

If you want an analogue face there are pretty much only two choices that aren't hideous:

The Casio Lineage LIW-T100TD-1AJF (pic related) and the Casio Oceanus ocw-s100-1ajf

There's one on Y! Japan Auctions right now with 13 hours left:

Why Zenmarket over Buyee?
>>
>>62191930
At least just for looking at stuff, the interface at zenmarket is much better. I haven't actually bought off buyee so I suppose I can't speak to that, but buying off zenmarket has been great.

How much did you pay for yours?

Is it wrong to prefer a slightly "messier" face with something like the omegas in this picture
>>62191434
Over the seiko and vintage watches posted throughout this thread? Is one style better for dressing up?
>>
>>62192039
That one is basically over that already
>>
>>62192154
I would say busy face not messy.
Thinner smaller diameter watches are better for dress watches imo.
>>
>>62192178
I'm aware. I didn't say you should buy it, just mentioning that there is one available right now.

>>
>>62191888
>>
>>62192198
That's slightly unfair, I like the slightly larger watches (40-44) with busier faces. Tiny watches with no features are kind of boring to me. Why did things have to be this way?
>>
>>62192605
People had class back then.
>>
>>62192605
Well thin is important because it needs to fit under the cuff of your shirt this is needed imo where everything else is preference and fit.
I say smaller diameter because they tend to fit more snug to your wrist again for the cuff but larger works if the lugs are well designed. I was thinking more mid to high 30s not tiny.
The watch can be whatever complications you want really but I would say no diving bezels and I'm not a fan of chronographs because of the pushers sticking out look ugly and you should not need a chronograph in any situation you are dressed up.

most casio watches have chronos, all the g-shocks have chronos and so do alot of the cheaper options like the f-91w or the ca-53w
