Nice.
Are the endlinks loose? It looks like one side of each is fit perfectly and the other side of each is off.

>>62197492
Left. The right dial is abysmal. Also, the crown being at 4 will be great for your left wrist.

>>62197767
It looks too large for you.
>>
>>62197492
The one on the right is for lefties to wear on the right wrist. Get the left one if you're right handed.
>>
>>62198219
The end links are great, I think it's just the angle & shadows in that picture.
>>
>>62198271
Good to hear. I have an order from strapcode on the way and usually hear that they fit well.
>>
>>62198301
They are great bracelets. Solid end links, milled clasps, screw attaching the links to each other (not shitty pin & collar) and they are specifically designed for certain models. They're well worth the money.

Incidentally does anyone know if the Owl Penis super jubilee from Strapcode will fit my SARB033?
>>
>>62193433
The SBPG001 is from like 2006, not 1976 . It's basically a homage to Seiko's history of LCD quartz watches but incorporates newer features like radio atomic sync, solar charging and EL backlight.

>can you tell me about this watch and its appeal vs the spring drive?

I'll split my answer into historical and technical arguments.

From a historical perspective, Grand Seiko's modern hi-beat mechanical movements are the culmination of a 50 year long obsession with mechanical movement accuracy that began in the 1960s at both internal divisions of Seiko. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s both Seikosha divisions became increasingly obsessed with pushing the accuracy envelope and began to turn to high beat rates and large amounts of labour spent on adjustment and regulation of their movements to achieve very high levels of accuracy. In the late 1960s and early 1970s their obsession with mechanical movement accuracy reached its zenith with the production of "VFA" models that were essentially handmade watches masquerading as series produced watches. They tasked their very best watchmakers (known as the "gods of adjustment") to cherry pick every component in each VFA movement and then spend as much time as necessary to assembled, adjust and regulate those movements to +/- 2 SPD (in the late 1960s!).

See these links for some more information:
https://monochrome-watches.com/seikos-affinity-to-hi-beat-movement-part-one/
https://monochrome-watches.com/seikos-affinity-to-hi-beat-movement-part-two/

When Seiko started forming the modern Grand Seiko at the 1990s they did so in-part using watchmakers that had worked at the more mechanical movement obsessed Seiko division (Daini Seikosha). It really shows in the modern Grand Seiko's approach to movement design and assembly. Their movements continue to be fairly conservative in design, still using a traditional regulated balance and balance cock approach, and in traditional Seiko fashion they use a higher beat rate and absurd amounts of inspection, finishing, assembly, adjustment and regulation labour on each movement to maximize the accuracy and performance of a very conservative design.

Seiko developed the Galante Collection for the truly mature man; a leader meeting the world with his own identity and armed with a well-rooted personal philosophy. Galante features a Spring Drive mechanism and dependable mechanical movement. The unique case design will inspire your passion and represent the owner's unique style.

who the fuck thought this line was a good idea?
>>
>>62194708
>>62198847

Now as for technical arguments, the Grand Seiko hi-beat is one of the absolute best series produced mechanical movements in the world. They are, as far as I know, the only remaining company to use a Lossier curve on their hairsprings to reduce positional variance (basically the first coil spiraling out from the collet is specially formed to increase the concentricity of the hairspring). They use a high beat-rate to further reduce the positional variance of their regulated balance. They bought a MEMS machine to be able to produce escapement components to micrometer precision and to allow them to openwork components of the escapement in order to reduce the amount of torque necessary to drive the movement, allowing longer power reserves and reducing wear and tear on the movement from the higher beat-rate. The micromoter precision with which the components of the escapement are produced further promotes a reduction of isochronism. They microscopically inspect literally every component in the movement during the production process and still lavish adjustment and regulation labour on their movements.

Grand Seiko hi-beats are probably the greatest smooth balance production movements in the history of watchmaking.

Pretty darn awful desu

I can understand going for cheap shitters, but this is just seems like bad taste penny pinching.

And that's coming from the resident kike.

>>62199634
Proper usage would be to keep it wound up only when you're wearing it or going to wear it, as it inducdes more wear on the movement.

Since like most machines, the more you run them the more they wear down. Although not running them for a very long period of time may screw them up.

If you have no idea as to how to regulate and you're asking us that it means that you shouldn't delve into it before studying on the matter.

At 200 bucks, the best automatic watch on paper is probably the Ray II, but there's a ton of other good divers at that price point (SKX, NY0040, even the Invicta Pro Diver). At sub 300, you can get a Seiko with an actually decent movement instead of the 7S26. Either way, below about 400-500 bucks, if you want a good automatic, you pretty have to go Japanese (if you don't want slavshit). This obviously only talks about autos, if you're open to quartz then there's a ton of other options (G-Shocks, quartz chronos, solar ones, etc.)

If you didn't have the 033 i would have recommended the Orient Star classic.

Otherwise you could try getting one of the Hamilton Khaki models, ideally the handwound 38mm since it's one of the best in their lineup.

what does that measure and how large is your wrist? Also you have to understand a dress watch is supposed to remain hidden while being worn. Most of them have been pretty small in diameter and are hand wound so they always slide under the cuff.

Holy shit, they want 750 to service the omega.

How often do they expect you to do maintenance on these automatic watches, anyway? Is this a normal price to have an automatic serviced, or is this just some jew shit?

I don't know too much about the value of the Fendi watch or how much to service that one, though. The back has Orologi 200g, but all I can find is that people dislike "fashion watches" and that someone on the internet is trying to sell theirs for 650.

Why did you get this quote from? You need to find a good independent watchmaker, becasue $750 is too much even for a chronograph service.

He's kinda right. The trend outside /wt/ is that divers can be huge.

Even snobby watch forums agree that a small diver looks weirder than a big one on a wristlet. I agree with them. You can even see this trend with brands that are taking away their mid sizes and also sizing up their vintage homages (Seiko is a big one for this). So yeah, the marketing meme is kinda wrong.

Magnetism causes inaccuracies way larger than that. Like minutes a day or more. That watch is just a chink piece of shit.

I suppose you're not counting dive watches?

Marine chronometers are cool, but they often take the form of a clock on gimbals.

dive watches are a given, I'm looking for watches outside of diving watches that are famous for sailors or submariners and all around nautical experiences.

You can start by searching about marine chronometer certified watches.

Most jap movements go between -10/+30 sec a day, nothing i can do about it, just luck.

Can any auto movement can be as accurate as a digital ? or close..

Digital refers to time display, not time keeping.

Never but that's not the reason you'd buy one.

A good mechanical can keep within +/- 3 to 5 seconds per day, a high-end one can do +/- 1-2 seconds. When you consider all the parts involved that's pretty impressive engineering.

You mean other than learning how to regulate a mechanical movement? Or having an independent watchmaker regulate it for you?
>>
>>62222408
>Never
Well, not never, but almost never. Some high-end production movements can be regulated to pretty close to +/- 0 SPD but it takes some effort and will probably require re-regulating the watch at least one a year to account for the declining amplitude between services.

How often do you plan to wear it over a jacket?
Because I can understand the historic reasons for getting it but I don't understand why people don't get a modern sized Flieger from one of the 5 original manufacturers. It's far more practical, you don't look like you have stolen your dad's watch when wearing it and you do still have the history as much because it's not like that's any closer to the original than modern takes on the Flieger.

Patek Calibre 324 S C -3/+2 SPD

Yeah, I need to take a better pic sooner or later but this shows it decently. It's hard to capture in photos how subtle the tritium is in real life, but I think if I set up my tripod and mess around with manual settings I can get it looking right.

I know someone who bought a shit watch BECAUSE he was in Switzerland, and it said "Swiss Made" on it.

Being Swiss doesn't make it not a fashion watch, and doesn't make it not garbage.
>>
>>62224542
So are Squale watches and like every other Swiss watch in the $600-$1500 price range, but that doesn't mean it's an in house movement; it's going to most probably be a mass produced ETA.

So im on holiday in Switzerland and decided to get a nice Swiss watch as a souvenir. I originally wanted a Tissot for obvious reasons lol. However the women selling them convinced me Certina was the same quality as Tissot due to being part of the Swatch group. I was also told Certina is regarded as being Tissots younger sibling due to their similarities. I eventually chose it as Tissot is more of a popular brand and thought it would be fun to try a Certina not having owned one before nor having seen any really outside of Switzerland in my home country.

I think it was a good choice as it definately does live up to the Swiss quality and design that I was looking for in a Tissot as a souvenir of coming here.

And btw the background is my view from my chalet! Really nice place here in Interlaken! Taken on an S7 Edge.
