Just got a t450, if i install win10 now, will everything work? right now it has bloated windows 8, and in the mouse settings i cant enable the trackpoint, will this work if i install a new win10?

yesterday i got my t450, and after some use it wasnt able to boot up. I tried to fix with cmos, internal/external battery, emergency reset, etc. nothing worked. Let it charge up overnight, in the morning still didn't work. i just came home, booted it up and it said check date and time, i did, and now it boots up.

Now idk if this will happen again, how can I know? I want to make sure it won't happen because i cant contact the seller later, and im going to use it for uni, i need it.

Basically, I am starting uni in a few weeks and need a laptop(no hardcore stuff, just regular web browsing, text editing and stuff)
I've been thinking of buying a x201, so I have a few questions :
How's the battery life on it?

Can it run some basic or old-ass games?(lightweight plaformers, little indie games, VN's yadda yadda)

How is the screen?

Are thinkpads just a meme or are they really good? I never had a thinkpad nor a laptop so I'm new to this field, also I'm a huge newfag when it comes to technology, so I had to ask.

I recently bought a zbook with an i7 4800mq and had an EliteBook 6930p with a c2duo p8700 given to me
The EliteBook is quite a bit older but I like the hardware more. It is from the same era as the t400 and competed against it directly I believe.
I'm installing void Linux on it. I'm going to put the CK kernel patches on and maybe try to design a UX

There's a page on thinkwiki that goes over it. Basically you just change a few settings in /sys/ and use sysfs utils to keep them between updates. You can also change the polling rate.

At work we use it to give our laptops a proper serial port so we can actually fucking download shit to a PLC. Quite handy for testing, because otherwise we'd have to fucking walk back and forth between factory hall and office all the fucking time. I've been having issues with my T400 in this regard. In my case, it seems the fan was dying a slow death over several months, I was getting intermittent fan errors every 2-3 weeks which could be fixed by pulling the battery for a half hour or so. Now it seems like it's completely dead. I have a dead T60 lying around, and I'm wondering if I can just pull the fan from that and use it in the T400. Any differences between the two?

So, from the buyers guide, it looks like an x series would be best for me, but I really dont know which one. I could be wrong though, so recommend anything to me. If you're lucky you might be able to score an x201 for a pretty good price. It's more than capable of browsing the web and you'll certainly be able to dick around in GNU/Linux.
I was looking for a decently priced x201 but got increasingly impatient. Found a $50 x200T with an IPS panel + 8-cell battery and picked it up immediately. With 2GB RAM and a 160GB HDD, it's not exactly stacked, but these components are replaceable and Debian 9 handles day-to-day tasks (light web browsing, movies, text editing, music, etc.) with relative ease.
Only problem with the machine is the Penryn Core 2 Duo soldered into the board. No hyperthreading means your two physical cores can get overwhelmed quite quickly and multitasking suffers. I've heard rumors that you can drop an x201 board into the x200 chassis (not sure if that would work with tablet variants) but I might be experimenting with that soon.
tl;dr: x200/x201 or bust.

my Thinkpad logo came off my x220t yesterday. Its the one under the keyboard and not the one on the lid. I was able to temporarily reattach it by applying some saliva to the pack and putting it back. It seemd to reactivate some of the old glue. But its obviously not a final solution. The logo is like a transparent sticker that shows the silver background, and black outlines that shows the lettering. I dont want to just use any glue because the residue would show up behind the transparent plastic.

Does anyone know how to reattach these?
