Varmilo/MF68

If they don't have the right positioning by default, there's eda files for a replacement MF68 PCB that uses a Pro Micro as the controller for programmability.
>>
>>62108706
Of course it's programmable. There is a google drive link with a guide on how to flash it in the description.
>>
>>62108828
I prefer Kailh Speed Silver, but when you use them, you're basically going to be bottoming out every time. Imagine that it's a switch made to bottom out, and hitting the bottom is your "tactility". I prefer Gateron Red just because I like having the switch travel more, and speed switches seem like they stop too short, but if you know what you're getting into, you'll enjoy it.

Just do not get the switch thinking you'll hit keys faster than anyone else, or that you'll have any form of a "gaming" edge. They're just linears with short travel that are almost meant to be bottomed out.
>>
>>62110084
At least GMK can somewhat keep to their schedule. Expect for the vendor to completely fuck everything up when it comes to actually shipping it to you. Who knows though, their Terminal groupbuy went somewhat smoothly.
>>
>>62109237
Vortex Race 3
>>
>>62108828
Silvers are way too sensitive for gaming, since even resting your fingers on the keys will sometimes activiate them.
>>
How is the Tada68? For $100 I feel like I should just get the xiaomi mec keyboard
>>
>>62110630
>>62110600
Sounds like gateron clears, which I already have. If anything I'd just get it for comparison purposes.
>>
>>62108828
I have race 3 with silvers.

I'd say there's no practical difference between them and reds. Travel is shorter, but this only affects the feel, it does not significantly affect either typing or gaming.
>>
>>62110768
Honestly one of the best keyboards around, especially for the price. The default key caps are great. My only complaint is that I didn't grab the white one.
>>
>>62110060
The Varmilo VA68M is exactly what you want.
Pretty damn costly Japanese brand though.
>>
>>62110768
Pretty damn great and cheap for that price. The keycaps and case are real thicc, and you can always upgrade to an alu case later.
The keymapping, though muddled with Chinese, is surprisingly powerful, with something like a dozen modes for the Fn key.

Ortholinear is a meme that makes it more difficult to type and isn't ergonomic at all.

Do a simple test: rest your hands on your keyboard as you would if you were typing normally (on the home row), then extend any finger straight. does this finger go straight up towards the top of the keyboard or is it at an angle? if it's at an angle then ortho will suck dicks for you unless it's an ergonomic/ angled keyboard.
>>
>>62111000
Are you retarded? That is just an OEM keyset with mac modifiers.
>>
>>62111021
Filco is made by costar, who are chinks
>>
Why does every switch suck?
>>
>>62111967
Because life sucks
>>
>>62112040
oh
>>
>>62111076
There's a reason keyboards aren't ortholinear, I find it uncomfortable and want my larger keys back. It's possible to use and maybe you can get used to it, but having staggered keys feels more natural.

My opinion might be a little different considering that I only used pick related for playing video games. I switched it back to a numpad, and it'll stay a numpad.
>>
Is the KBD75 legit or a meme? And what switches should I get it with if I get it? I usually go for MX Blues whenever I can.
>>
>>62111689
See, this is true for the right hand, but for the left it’s staggered the wrong way.

The obvious solution is a split ortholinear keyboard, but unfortunately these are still extremely niche and expensive for what they are.
>>
>>62112283
It's definitely legit, it's one of the best Chinese customs you can buy for a great price. If you wanna go full meme, I know that KBDfans sells it with Zealios, but it would probably be cheaper and better to buy 90 MOD switches instead. If you really like clicky switches so bad, just buy Cherry Blues alone and put it together, you won't regret it.
>>
>>62112287
Why are split keyboards so uncommon in general, it's such a simple solution to so many of the problems people have with keyboards

We've known adjustability is the key to ergonomics for decades but apparently peripheral makers haven't caught up
>>
>>62112348
Plebs don't give a flying fuck about keyboards, most people will suffer whatever rubber dome they're typing on and never have it cross their mind that they should switch.

So that means we're left with a couple of people that make ergodox splits to roughly 1000 consumers for very little return. You have a better shot actually going out, talking to some Chinks, manufacturing PCBs, and making your own split keyboards for yourself and some other retards on Geekhack. I just want to go full meme and have more 96 keyboards on the market already.
>>

>>
>>62113743
>fc980m

>>
>>62111076
Ortho is only good for split boards.
With regular ones, you don't have your arms perfectly straight at the board, making the main selling point of ortholinear moot.
On split boards you can angle them in such a way that your fingers extend the same way the keys are arranged

>Can anyone tell me if typing on these ortholinear board will mess me up when I get back to normal keyboard layouts
Yes, it will. I've recently switched to an Ergodox, and while it's a great typing experience, it will mess up your muscle memory for regular staggered boards.
Before the switch I typed at around 130 WPM on regular boards. On the Ergodox I was able to reach around 30 WPM for the first few hours. A few days later, I was at around 50 on the Ergodox and 100 on the regular one.
I've been using it for a week now and manage 70 WPM on the Ergodox and only 80 on the regular one.
I'm pretty sure that I'll be able to get both up to 100-110 again though. It just takes some getting accustomed to both at the same time.
Also, most of the drop in typing speed was probably due to my shitty typing technique prior to the switch. A lot of the mistakes I currently make on the Ergodox could've been prevented by proper 10 finger typing.

That said, I'd switch to the Ergodox again if I had the chance. Typing is a lot more pleasant than on any other keyboard I've owned.
>>
>>62108215
Hey, I'm experiencing key chattering on my "h" key, I didn't even know this was a thing.

My keyboard is a K70, with red switches, the switches are soldered to the board so I can't change them, at least not easily, is there anything I can do to mitigate that? Sometimes it goes away but sometimes it registers like, 6 keystrokes at once.

Capacitive switches are designed to not chatter. Topres for example are rated for 25 million presses without chatter, vs the 0 of cherry. MX switches chatter because of the metal leafs inside. The firmware then corrects it with debounce times.

Is this counts as a 60%? It seems comfy apart from the placement of the navigation cluster.

If I buy a custom ASIO PCB, can I add "ñ" to it via firmware?
>>
Just got a ducky one
the 'fn' key is acting like a right click and i cant use it for anything else.
Any ideas to change that?

I bought a romer-meme keyboard in another country and brought it back to where I live. Some Keys keep falling out and I am 100% positive that the switches are the problem. Is there any way for me to fix there or no?

Is there a 60% PCB that supports both RGB underglow and RGB backlight?

I spilled water on my pok3r RGB and it fried half of the board. Thinking of getting a Filco M2 for replacement.

On The Keyboard Company they're selling the Matias Tactile Pro for £94.80. How's that keyboard? How the switches compare to cherry blue?

I loved mine. Shame it didn't like having a beer spilled all over it. Got a Tada68 in the post to replace it though so happy days.

Why don't you just clean it and use retrobrite?

Bump. Also, how do the tactile switches compare to the quiet switches?
>>
>>62123069
quiet clicks are tactile and...quiet.
>>
>>62123401
Are they worth the 45% increase in price? Beside, what I really wanted to know is if matias are better than cherry mx.
>>
>>62108215
Someone told me not to get cherry mx browns. Without giving me a reason as to of why... So why?
>>
>>62123566
The tactile bump is so small that it feels more like a rough linear switch. It's very unpleasant even if you come from a rubber dome keyboard.
>>
>>62123608
hmmmm, well i really just want a 85% keyboard (only the numpad).
I only dislike blues because of the click sound it makes.

was going to buy this with browns but now im not sure - http://www.coolermaster.com/peripheral/keyboards/masterkeys-pro-m-white/
They have this in Blue, Brown, Red and Silver

You want 85% of a numpad? For what purpose?
>>
What switch has a bigger bump, Gateron blue or Cherry? I currently have gateron blue switches but I want a new keyboard and almost all of the ones I want use Cherry switches.
>>
>>62123496
On both tactile and clicky, yes matias are much better than any mx. The tactility is real, as opposed to weak little bumps even in gaterons.
>>
>>62121592
Matias is closer to Buckling Springs than MX Blues. Blues feel linear by comparison (which they are, being a modified MX Black).

Haven't been following lately. Have any new Cherry MX Clear/Zeal/MOD/whatever keyboards with floating keys released recently? Pic related, MK Fission.

Amazon said they will ship a keyboard in it's original box without any bubble wrap because it's "frustration free packaging" whatever the fuck that means. Should I order something else? I don't want it breaking.

Hey, sorry, can I get the link to this or a full image? I'm curious about the layout.

the rows on a standard keyboard are offset (quarter key, half key, quarter key) to make room for the physical arms of a typewriter
something no electric keyboard ever had
it is fucking retarded (especially from a human hand perspective) and anything that claims otherwise is blatant lies

"Frustration-free" means it's in a cardboard box instead of a clamshell or other plastic.

Besides the hundreds of custom chinese keyboards.
Race 3 came out like 3 months ago. Vortex core was earlier this year, ViBe is also coming soon. Ducky came out with the shine 6. While the keyboard doesn't have a floating design it comes with low profile keycaps
>>
Has anyone bought the Drevo Tyrfing 87 key? Seems like the best non-rainbow brown switch keyboard that's about $50.
>>
>>62124953
Keycaps look like shit, but if you don't care about looks then get any keyboard with gateron browns.

It's ortholinear, so a lot more keys in a small package. I believe that is a so-called 75% board can fit in a 60% case.
Also, my original idea was that, with a board like that, one can easily create a layout similar to pic related, with a the numpad on the left side.
>>
>>62124937
Thanks, but I also failed to mention I'm also looking for 100%. Not like I had high hopes to begin with. Reduced meme is killing me.
>>

It's pure supply and demand shit, man.

>>
>>62125267
The top numbers are good enough for me to be honest. I only ever used the numpad to play roguelikes that don't support arrow keys.
