Arch. Used it as a main OS through usb for a couple of weeks before I installed it on my laptop, it was pretty neat.

These are good. Your biggest limitation is probably R/W speed and IOPS considering most USB Zip Diskettes are garbage. 8 GB is enough for just about every distro out there.
