Op, if you don't feel like doing either, turn off bluetooth when not using it, clear your background apps whenever possible, turn down brightness, turn off wifi if you aren't near wifi, Force power saving mode (if on android). You could also try to underclock your cpu.

Uninstall or disable play store and play services. Replace with yalp store, and microG if you need GPS.
Block ads. Either use DNS66, or root the device and use AdAway.

Use tasker to switch between 2g/3g/4g.

Naptime or some agressive doze shit.
