using bluray costs 2USD per 50GB disc and storage isn't used efficiently. Most blurays are in the 30-40GB range so you waste 5-15GBs of space each time you burn a movie.

If you are serious about media collection and have 500 movies with an average wasted space of 7GB per disc that means you paid for 3.5TB of unused space enough room to store another 100 movies.

The cost of 500 BD50s is about 1000USD Meanwhile for 1000USD of HDDs you could buy a 21TB raid 6 that could store 600 movies.

All the menus and features of a physical bluray player can be had with software now. For lazy fucks vlc mostly works but there are completely solutions that provide the exact experience of a player.

Having your collection on HDD is overall better and the cost of storage continues to decline.

Here's a little secret for all you neons on red
There's a way to get buffer
-without seedbox
-without a good connection
-without ripping albums
-without filling requests

The only thing that you'll have to sacrifice it time. It takes about 30 minutes of work to get 1GB but the good thing is that its not a hit or miss thing, its 100% guaranteed that you'll get the buffer. I've been doing this whenever I needed a quick buffer increase for the past 3 months and it worked 100% of the time.
It's not a secret technique (I've seen it mentioned here every couple of threads) and its not against the rules (its discussed by staff)

I don't want to state what it because if enough of you fags do it maybe the mods will start restricting it, so instead for anyone who actually wants to spend 30 minutes of his time mindlessly doing a task for 1GB then search the forums on red and you'll see people talking about it

here's a hint: I'm 100% sure that you've heard of someone mentioning it and you scoffed them off because you thought that it's way to hard and its something new that you don't want to try.
