Had the chance to study a semester at stanford and met a lot of people who work for google and facebook.

Lots of indians and chinese work there. Maybe half of the workforce. The explanation is easy: All the top universities skim of the talent of large populous countries. If 1% of a population is hyper talented you have a pool of 200m with india and china combined, while you only have 3m in the USA. There is no race agenda at the hiring process for engineers. It is just much easier to find a capable and cheap pooinloos or chinks than crackers.
