I'm trying to play a movie on my ps3. The original file is an mkv which I converted to an MP4 (H.264 +MP3).

The PS3 recognises the file when I insert my USB, but when I play the movie, the first 20 seconds or so play, with no audio, and then the screen goes black permanently after the logo's have finished. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

The original file you have is encoded with DRM protection. Most media players ignore this, but the PS3 media player doesn't, and will halt playback whenever the distributor intended.

any pen you buy for more than $10 that has a 4star+ rating will be just fine. just know that if you're a ditzy fuck like myself, you should probably give it a dedicated home on a desk as opposed to in a bag or otherwise, lost my first few pens real fast taking them to classes and work.

How do I figure out if my ISP is fucking with me?

For YEARS I have had an off-and-on problem where my internet will just completely die for 5-50 seconds. Sometimes it'll just stop for a handful of seconds. Sometimes it'll go out for a minute or two. Rarely it'll go completely out for 5-10 minutes at a time.

It makes online games impossible. I get DCd constantly. Sometimes its a DC every minute, sometimes I get 15-20 minutes without a DC. But no matter what, some 5, 10, 30 seconds outtage comes along at least once an hour, and usually more like 3-10 times an hour.

It's extremely variable.

I think it happens more during summer, and possibly during holidays.

I suspect that it's just network load crippling my neighborhood or town.

How do I find out what it is, though?
How do I find out if they're "shaping" my connection or putting me on a lower priority because I refuse to pay for more than 15Mbps/3Mbps?

All of the tools online that claim to detect ISP fuckery seem to have shut down. And I don't want to run untrusted .exe's.

I've called the company repeatedly over the years. They send someone out who fucks with the modern, fucks with the cable box outside, fucks with the pole the drop runs from.

Usually nothing gets fixed. Sometimes things will improve for a while. But NO MATTER WHAT, this problem comes back.

What the fuck is it? My ISP just being tightass pieces of shit and not upgrading their infrastructure because I'm not in a metro area?

have a program that can sort files listed in it

I implemented sorting, and I am not sure if the correct orientation is set.

The standard, the expected. I never thought about it, but what seems standard - the trianle, is counter intuitive to me.

I opened thunar to test how it goes

â–¼ - ABCD...
â–¼ - 4 kB, 100 kB, 500 kB,...
â–¼ - monday, tuesday, friday, today

obviously â–² goes in opposite direction sorting
but WTF

larger portion of the triangle at the top, smaller at the bottom, yet size goes from small to large, and I know with date and alphabet its kinda how you feel, but I would still go other way around...

googling took me to stackoverflo question but they bring in to it the word ascending and shit...

So I just bought a TPM-module in belief it'd enable Full Disk Encryption, but I missed a requirement which was InstantGo(and my motherboard don't support that). So now I'm left with a useless TPM-module and no encryption, so I could use some tips to go from here

1. Should I cough up some money and upgrade my license to Pro? First-party 256-bit encryption that uses my new TPM module sounds nice. Remote Desktop and Hyper-V could be useful too, but I don't think I'll use them that often, hence why it feels a bit crappy paying for the Pro license solely to get BitLocker.

2. Use some 3rd-party software, doesn't sound too good and probably won't utilize the TPM module. But it seems to be a cheaper option.

Which way should I go, anons?

Well so 700, 704 and 708 are a power of 4, so it should be mostly fine? But I don't see a way to label it as exactly 4:3 instead.
Actually I might be wrong. I use MPC-HC as a main video play. When I play the video and go in properties it says 704x576 (176:135) in details, but when I go to MediaInfo it says 4:3. Does it really matter?

>>
>>61753244
it might not be 4:3 after cropping, it depends on how that specific video was made
either way, this is a small crop, and such a small potential error doesn't really matter, no
mediainfo is likely just rounding to the nearest common ratio
there are also bluray movies with pictures sizes like 1920x804, 1920x816, etc, you'd be hard-pressed to tell the difference after stretching them to 1920x800, and it's hard to tell what the 'true' ratio is supposed to be
>>
>>61753250
>connect to adsl
Assuming you have a DSL filter (as you normally would) and a wifi enabled raspberry pi, yes.
You can do it with a USB Wifi dongle too but note:

>>
>>61753323
>>61753244
also, the purist solution would be to just not crop, and use the DAR flagged on the dvd
since a dvd can only be 4:3 or 16:9 (the standard only supports these two), it should be very obvious which one it should be
this way, the result is exactly the same as you would get when playing the dvd normally
>>

Well for WiFi support I need specific drivers for the OpenWRT firmware, and I can't install them without internet, plus I like having my main PC connected via ethernet which is why I'm considering getting a switch. So the setup would be like this?
>switch port 1 connects to adsl
>pi connects to switch port 2
>pc connects to switch port 3
>switch routes pc to pi which routes to adsl

Hello /g/.
I just bought a chink mic, and it annoys me that I have to set the mic boost to 30dB. The buzzing sound is horrendous. Then I read in certain forums that using a 3.5mm to USB jack helps it a lot since a lot of chink mics needs more voltage to work properly. Now, can I just use an XLR to USB cable instead of buying an adapter? Is it safe? How can I guarantee it won't burn itself or explode?

They differ in the data structures they use to keep track of the filesystem hierarchy and files, in the size of files they allow, in the efficiency with which they allow programs to perform operations on different kinds files, permissible names for files, the metadata they attach to each file, and lots of other details. You can look at the wikipedia pages for various filesystems liks XFS, ext4, btrfs, ZFS, NTFS, FAT, etc. in order to get an idea about how some of these things are handled in different filesystems.

>>
>>61755738
It's a malware scanner more than an antivirus.

I'd run NoScript but it basically cripples the internet and makes basic things a pain in the ass to do.

And Ublock fails to block everything. In fact, more frequently it's been blocking less and less.
>>
>>61755630
Well, making satellite imagery is a bit more involved than strapping a camera to a drone.

First, what ground resolution are you looking for? 1px / 10 cm is pretty good, so I'd stick with that.

Second, you need overlap between pictures. Regular flights (in east-west direction to compensate earths rotation) usually have 30% overlap in north / south and 40 - 60% in east west.

From these two factors, your focal length, and how high your drone can fly calculate how many pixels you need and how much images you need.

Third, you need to undistort images, then stitch them together. If you can't program, you're fucked at this stage because the software required for stitching is not just available for everyone. You'll also need to color-correct the images.

"Satellite imagery" isn't made by sattelites, their cameras are too weak. They get maybe 1m ground resolution tops. "Satellite imagery" is made by attaching LIDAR cameras in the 20k range to airplanes so you can cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time.

Plus: weather conditions, flight restrictions. It depends how large the city is, you can't fly above hospitals, etc.

I assume you are referring to the generated passwords (nothing to do with pbkdf at that stage). In renderPassword it gets a set of allowed characters from the passwordProfile and passes that to consumeEntropy which adds one character from the passed set to the password and then recurses until the password is the desired length.

I recently saved enough money to build a mostly new computer.
Scavenged the graphics card and hard drive from my old system.
I just plugged in my USB to install the OS, i went theough the prompt, and then it blue screened, and every time it restarts, it blue screens.
I'm aware system hardware changes mess with Windows, but how am i supposed to format the hard drive if i cant get into the thing?
Each bkuescreen is some random fibberiah each time, one mentioned a pagel file in an unpaged area (something along those lines), one mentioned a memory dump, another mentions pfn list being corrupt, and other times it just fills my screen with blue lines.
The system doesnt recognise any USB port when I try to boot from my Win7 disc.
Being poor, I have no way to buy new hardware or anything, so I'm genuinely getting worried and sad that this isn't working.

You realize it it waiting for EOF before printing anything though? So you run it, write some stuff, then press ctl+d (that's what it is on posix vtys anyway) and it prints out how mane chars, words and newlines you typed in.

XP is a dinosaur to Windows 7. That shit still had 90s era stank all over it. That shit's before trim, before a proper defrag, before they got their shit together with firewall and basic sandboxing, and back when they had that kamakazi autorun. The only reason to run xp now is a nostalgia jerk off or because you absolutely have to.

I already have modern computers in my home that can do that sort of thing. I wouldn't even connect it to any network for security reasons. I installed Windows 10 LTSB evaluation and quite like it. Now it has expired and the computer reboots every two hours. A week from now it'll be disabled.

I found some local internet tech shops selling "Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016 - Upgrade license" for around $360. This is the correct product, right? Or is there some voodoo tier logic that makes it incorrect. I've never bought an OS before and I know Microsoft sells like 50 different versions of anything they sell.

And how on earth do you upgrade/activate once you've purchased? My activation page is missing the options I see on others' screenshots. Pic related

Also, is buying it legit what /g/ users with LTSB do or is there some generally agreed upon safe crack that won't trojan the computer?

Appreciate any help.

You obviously have to take the sata cables and front panel cables and graphics card out of the mobo to get it out of the case but you should be able to leave the ram sticks and cpu on the mobo. Probably take heatsink off too depending on how yuge it is.

You might be running a shitty OS that registers up to 2GB of RAM. Windows 7 Starter 32 bit has a 2GB limit. Your ram sticks also might be slightly different, ie. the frequency or latency, so that might cause a problem as well.

It does but that is low power enough that it doubt anything would break even if enough of a puddle of conductive water formed to short it.

it's ok to turn the power switch off, provided you've at least synced and remount-ro/unmounted your filesystems, something done by your os during shutdown, otherwise you may lose data and potentially corrupt your filesystem
unlike back in the dos days, there are ram-based caches for everything, which are lost when you lose power, so they need to be placed on disk before you power your machine off

if you're using stream copy, then yes

>>
>>61760269
I don't know what a stream copy is, but my command contains that- I just used what someone else recommended I use (he explained it to me too, but I never really read it honestly).

ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -ss 00:00.000 -t X:XX:XX.XXX -c:v libx264 -preset slow -crf 21 -c:a aac -b:a 192k -map_metadata -1 output.mp4

This command won't result in a lossless output.
Use something like:
ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -ss 00:00.000 -t X:XX:XX.XXX -c copy output.mp4

If you wan't lossless. Here you're re-encoding the original file using x264 and aac, which is lossy. Especially using -crf 21.

>>
>>61760317
1. place -ss before the input for faster seeking (before someone says it's inaccurate, that is not the case with more recent versions of ffmpeg)
2. you are telling ffmpeg to transcode the video (-c:v) and audio (-c:a), so they won't be lossless copies, yes, even if the options you set are the same as what was used to make the input file
