What's your favorite Linux DE?
I'm on KDE myself.
LINUX (._. )
>>61661534
This. I hear good things about gnome but
>old habits, they die hard.
>>61661534
What's so good about it?
>>61661471
Unity, KDE close 2nd.
CLI
MLDE
My super custom DE.
I like KDE but I cannot have a good experience with it no matter how hard I try. On one distro it is pretty buggy and on the next there's not this cool new feature or package.
On the other hand, with GNOME there's no decent Google Drive integration and it's a mess to customize. Other DEs are buggy, primitive or lack customization. There doesn't seem to be an actual good option.

cinammon
>>61661939
Why?
Unity
>>61661596
KDE is good because default setup looks like Windows and is very customisable without the need of learning a scripting language
But because only few distro use it by default, it lacks of devs and many bugs are here since forever, but it's getting better with KDE Neon
Also widget are useless
>he doesn't use a window manager
>>61662213
I was on KDE for years but I drop it because I was using it like an XFCE, so better install it coz it's lighter
Xfce
breddy fast, breddy good
>>61661471
dwm is my favorite, easily.
I use Gnome because when I teach, I don't want my interface to be scary and confusing to the plebs and I need to know how to do things in Gnome.
>>61661471
Xfce is the most comfy for me and i don't even know why.
i guess it has "something" that other DEs don't have dunno
Why use a DE at all?
I don't see any reason to do that.
I use i3
>>61661471
My own custom DE is my favorite DE.
At the moment I prefer Xfce
CDE with dtterm and dtksh as it shows my greybeardedness since I've shaved.
>>61661471
I use XFCE. It uses hardly any resources and works great so I get the exact same experience across all of my devices, from my cheap notebook to my work laptop to my custom built desktop. The consistency is nice.
>>61661471

I3wm
KDE Minimal, it uses around 400mb at first boot on my Arch installation, same on Debian... just fixed the font rendering to avoid the buggy start menu, also the xf86-input-libinput replaced in order to not get buggy fonts when scrolling.
>>61661471
KDE Plasma
>>61661838
This, Unity or GNOME are the least shitty ones.
>>61661838

That's where you're, kiddo.
>>61661471
Xfce on a desktop and i3 on a notebook.

Xfce4 for casual use/gnome replacement after GNOME.went to shit
I3 for development
>>61661471
XFCE because it works, feels familiar to Winblows, and i think the mouse looks cute.
>>61663066

Unity. But I use fvwm with mostly KDE programms, because sadly there's no unity in Debian.
Cinnamon.
It's not as big and fancy as KDE, but then again it's not butt fucking ugly like mate or xfeces and not pants-on-head retarded like gnome.
>>61662271
also buggy unfortunately.
LXQt

the twm desktop environment
>>61661471
KDE. Unity (rip) and LXQt are also great.
>>61661471
>What's your favorite
Gee? That's a tuff one for me. I suppose they all have their pros and cons. Right now I use KDE because I've not used KDE since the last one. version 4.
KDE of course
>>61661471
XFCE
>>61661939
I agree.
>>61662037
I like it because it is just the right amount of flashy. KDE comes out of the box with slow animations everywhere and all sorts of needless extra junk like KDE connect or whatever. XFCE on the other hand has too little, it looks a little ugly and lacks convenient extras in easy to get to places. Most of these complaints, if not all, could probably be fixed by putting some extra effort in, but hey, it just werks.

budgie is super nice but unstable
so I've been using xfce4 mostly recently.
Are there any actual alternatives to xorg?
>>61661471
Cinnamon you whores
>>61662276
meh found i was using it kinda like i3 in tabbed mode so i ended up using i3 in tabbed mode
>>61670720
Not him, but I think this place is as cancerous as /b/. And there's nothing we can do.
>>61668818
Whisker menu is great, as is appfinder. No other DE comes with this kind of feature in such a light, customizable form.
